    Top End Maintance....

Hi copemech, I was once told by a guy (who reckoned he knew a lot about Trials bikes), that you should change the piston rings every year (which I have never done). What's your thoughts on this? Best of balance. Neo
  2. Base gasket is the only way to go. And I believe there are three different thicknesses available now. Check out the 07 parts book for part numbers. Best of balance. Neo

    Heavy Clutch Still

I should have mentioned....it might be worth checking to see in the hydraulic line has been pinched on any part along it's length? Best of balance. Neo

    Top End Maintance....

Hi copemech, With a compression test. What PSI, Bar, or Kg/cm2 should you get? Best of balance. Neo

    Heavy Clutch Still

Sounds like there is something stuck in the works. If you want to go to the trouble. Try swapping the clutch hydraulic line over to the Brake master cylinder (you will need to bleed both systems again). But at lest you
  6. I didn't find it cheaper (as my machinist will not work for a 12pack!!). But the end result was definitely tougher. And had zero maintenance after that. Best of balance. Neo
  7. On my 02 290 I had a delta made up by a fabricator. Found the (rose joint) bushes at a bearing suppliers and had the bush inserts made by the fabricator too. The end resut was far tougher than what Sherco do. That's why I bothered Best of balance. Neo

    Gearoil!

Try doing a search on Oil in the Beta section....it comes up with nothing I use ATF in our Gasser Rookie and my Sherco......good to know it's OK in a Beta's too Best of balance. Neo

    Gearoil!

Hi, What gear oil do you use in an 02 Beta 250??? Synthetic / non-Synthetic??? Grade??? the 07 Beta manual says 20/40...I've never seen such a grade? Best of balance. Neo
  11. Hi Gents, Which Dellorto can be fitted to a Beta 250 (2002)? Best of balance. Neo

    02 Beta Folks And Specs

Thanks R2 Does anyone have the service settings for this 02.....I need to start working on the bike in the next few hours. Best of balance. Neo
  14. Hi All, A friend of mine has just bought and 02 Beta Rev3. And I'm giving him a hand fixing it up. Sorry, I'm an 06 Sherco rider myself. And I previously had and 02 Sherco. First question. I need to replace the folk seals on the Pailoi folks. I have a new set of seals from when I had my 02 Sherco. Will these seals fit the Beta?...The tube diameters looks the same but I haven't taken them apart yet. Second question. I have downloaded the Rev3 maintenance manual from the Beta website. But it seems to cover (in Italian) all years. Are the maintenance specs really all the same across all Rev3's? Can someone please point me in the direction of an 02 maintenance manual or 02 maintenance Specs? Also, after taking this bike out of the shipping crate (it was courired from Adelaide to Sydney), this bike would not start at first (despite many kicks). But after a 20 min rest it started 3 third kick without choke...is this a common for Beta's....that have traveled? The Petcock was closed when it arrived and I put fresh petrol in before attempting to start her. Many thanks for your help. Best of balance. Neo

  16. Could have been advertised anywhere and the result would have been the same (to somebody else maybe). Still not directly eBay's fault.....although eBay is guilty of many things. Best of balance. Neo
  17. This has nothing really to do with ebay....It was the dealer...and eBay was just the advert that brought you in. Best of balance. Neo

    2004 290

Take the rim to a good ali welders and get the holes fixed up. There are always two big cracks/snaps/pops... not just one. You'll need a fast 50 to 80psi to do this. Also, check the thin line on the tyre wall is parallel to the rim outer edge, all the way round. But follow all these tips first:- http://www.trialscentral.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=9171 http://www.trialscentral.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=9049 (mainly at the end of the thread) Best of balance. Forks Go Bang!

This is embarrassing but I used a large syringe to put in the oil. It must have been too early in the morning for me , because I put in only 31cc's of oil, instead of 310cc. But I'm sure the information you guys have given me will be useful in the future. Best of balance. Neo

    Forks Go Bang!

Thanks for your reply Betarev3, I've unscrewed both fork caps but they are connected OK at the base of the forks. I established this by trying to pull both spring/damping units out of the tubes. I'm still a bit worried about 310cc because it came out of the 04 manual???...maybe more oil is needed? Any other ideas guys? Best of balance. Neo

    Forks Go Bang!

HI Gents, I have an 02 TXT 70 Rookie here. And I have recently changed the fork oil. The 04 Rookie manual, I have, specified w5, 310cc per leg. So that's what I did. But when I pull a steep wheelie, there is a loud clap as the bike lifts up and the the forks seem to "Top-out" (if you know what I mean). Any ideas on what I could have done wrong? There is no oil leaking and the bolts at the bottom of the legs a really tight. Best of balance. Neo
  22. Hi Skid, Try riding in the snow....you'll learn a lot about Trials that way. Best of balance. Neo
  23. Here in Aus. The Sherco importer does a 200 Kit for the 125...smart move I think. Best of balance. Neo
  24. Hi "Slapshot 3"...after reading your point 14 I was convinced that you are a jerk ...but your last post proved me totally wrong...so many thanks for your detailed reply....great information. Interesting factors...many thanks "superior clutch control" seems to come out time and time again. But I just wanted to focus on the dynamics of the bike for now. And regarding this....30 year sounds like a long time...but why give up now?!? Thanks "AtomAnt" awsome video. Great summary "Dabnabit" but again, I just wanted to focus on the dynamics of the bike for now. Thanks "HAM2" for bring this back into focus. Because we all have to earn a living and only occasionally ride trials...I think we can can only get out, what we put in. For me, understanding what happens to the bike, while I ride, should help me "put in" just that bit more. Please keep em coming....PLEASE Best of balance. Neo
  25. Over the last couple of years I've heard, many times, how one bike has better traction (grip), on a steep or slippery climb, than another bike. A lot of this, I know, is to do with smooth power delivery to the rear wheel, but by no means all of it. The Sherco 250/290 is well know for having poor traction if you don
