  1. I'll look into that, thanks! I just learned of a guy that does custom oil tanks for Harley choppers from a buddy in Roswell. I may talk to him and see if he would be willing to fab up a tank, then mod mine to fit over it.
  2. Rather curious about this myself, since I have a 247 project in the shop. Not to sound like a dummy (although I'm rather good at it), but who is Richard Allen, and how does one get a hold of him?

Or better yet, remove the pump and tank assembly altogether. There are several places where you can source a block off plate for the pump, then cap off the oil injection inlet on the intake manifold. Those pumps blew oil in at something like a 30:1 ratio (when they worked) which is way too much for modern oils. League bikes premix 60:1 with no problems, and even that is still pretty goopy. Congrats on your score, have fun with it. We have fun with ours!
  4. I don't think Dennis has any more. I believe I bought the last piston/ring kit he had, but conformation is a phone call away.
  5. If the resto gets to be too daunting, you can always ship the bits out here to the wild, wild west! Funny how no one ever seems to fall for that...
  6. Well, it does say 349 on the side plastic. Have fun with it if you get it.
  7. Bummer you won't be moving to the wild, wild west. Have fun in the mild, mild west (that will get me in trouble!! ). Good luck moving. I moved a mere 230 miles away last year, and it was a major pain with all the vehicles, tools, equipment, and house stuff I have. Things are settling down, although I now bring home stuff like this instead of cool Trials bike projects - Keep us updated on your progress, and give us a shout if you come through New Mexico. We may host a little ride if you have time.
  8. Next event flyer on post #2. Roswell, baby!!
  9. Funny you should say that. We had a great time again this weekend, this time at Lake Mackenzie, Texas. Once again we "stole another one", weather-wise. Start with group setting on Saturday - Competition on Sunday!! I mostly got pics of my riding group, but here they are - Awesome time, everyone!
  10. Sorry this is late, but pics from our first event. Camp on Friday afternoon - Group setting on Saturday - We are in Texas, so what do we refresh ourselves with? Reminders on the loop by section 8 - Sections done, signup Saturday evening and Sunday morning - The competitors for the very first ever High Plains Trials Association event! Riding (some stolen from Grizzz) - Spectators - Great time had by all at the inaugural Hair of the Dog Classic!
  11. Never heard of them, but looks like a top-notch shop. Go for it, live in sin, and let us know when you get here. There will be a cold beer waiting for you at the campfire.
  12. Wild. Wild. West. Just sayin'..
  13. You would of course have to come down and ride with us as well, you know. http://nmta.weebly.com/ And us as well - http://hptrials.weebly.com/ Bob and Tony have already sent MWVTA and RMTA links to you. Yes, Trials is very alive and well here in the wild, wild, west. Oh wait, don't forget about our friends to the north - http://www.wmta.us/ C'mon, make the jump and ride with us!
  14. +1 on Ginder's (B&J racing). That's where OJ's skidplate came from. Good group of guys, we rode with them at the ITSA National in Sipapu last year.
  15. My, my, my, a reference to my old hulk OJ in Trials central. I may have to dig that heap out of the back of the shop and clean it up, maybe even start it. Or not. Have fun with your build, and don't overthink the mods just yet. I would say that a good skidplate and peg relocation should be the first mods done, gearing second. Learn the basics of riding Trials first, (practice with Trials riders, compete, repeat) then worry about modifying the bike to suit your riding style.
  16. And I thought 'Murica was bad about this type of nonsensical legislation. Wow. Good luck, brothers, fight this! Slovenian farm worker falling off a ladder that was hit by a tractor. Geebus....
  17. Why thank you. That's the way we dress here in the wild, wild west. At least when we pose for t-shirt sales anyway. A lot of us out here would kill to have an event a mere 30 miles away. The closest event site to me is 65 miles away near Roswell (yes, that Roswell ) 5 classes are nothing. In my home club of NMTA, we have 4 in the am, and 5 in the pm. 5 total is a relief.
  18. Thanks! If you find yourself in Amarillo on December 31st, come ride with us!
  19. Awesome! It's shaping up to be a party! Flyer added to post #2.
  20. Next event flyer ROSWELL!!! Haystack is at mile marker 357. Not 100 yards, not 100 feet, not 100 millimeters after, it is AT mile marker 357.
  21. Hello all. New club is starting up here in the wild, wild west. This is the announcement that I posted on ADV a couple of months back when the club was formalized - I am proud to announce the formation of a new Trials club, the High Plains Trials Association. Serving Eastern New Mexico, the Texas Panhandle, western Oklahoma and south Kansas, the club was formed to offer Trials riders in these areas an opportunity to ride and compete somewhere closer than northern New Mexico, south-central Texas, or points further. The first two posts here will always be updated with club info, event results, and whatever fun we come up with. We also have T-shirts available. Gots to financially jump-start the club somehow. See the Facebook site or visit DSquared Trials - http://www.dsquaredtrials.com/ Don't miss out on these limited edition CRAPOLA shirts! Don't forget stickers when you get your shirts! The schedule is being hacked out to avoid conflicts with the other area clubs that we are all members of. Check us out, contact us here or on FaceTube (whatever), Come join the fun!
  22. Hmm, I would view oil changes on your 4RT just like New Mexico politics - For success, do it early and often! Line is right, clean oil changes lead to more smiles than roofing-tar oil changes. These things only hold a mouthful of oil anyway so set yourself up for success, rather than.... Just sayin'....
