  1. I wouldn't wish "my neck of the woods" on my worst enemy! Albuquerque Toy dealerships could always use a hired gun, though. I think I still have a contact at Larry H. Miller Toyota, I can reach out if you need.
  2. The Grimica works best when removed and gently placed on a shelf to gather dust. The "large body" AJP that came on later 315Rs are vastly better, hence the reason they replaced the Grimicas.

Here you go - And a vid always helps - The GT has the floating seal holder, but the disassembly is similar. Hope this helps!
  4. Yeah. Blissful wide open spaces that are either privately owned by those who don't know/understand/like us, along with the "public" lands are usually closed off to us. Most clubs that don't have a land owner member work pretty hard to keep their riding areas open. The grass isn't really much greener over here, but we do manage to have some fun. Hijack over. Doesn't the Wisconsin club have some events up north? http://wisconsintrials.org/
  5. Friggin' awesome, I LOVE Flattrack!! My old boss in Albuquerque used to race an OSSA Flattracker, and still has it along with his green and white OSSA leathers. Next time I'm up there, I'll see if I can get pics.

I haven't heard back yet to see if our machinist is still around, or in retirement (again) making Porsche parts. I'll let you know.
  7. You've no idea what I think, I don't know Dave Renham. Enjoy your bashing. I'm out.
  8. Unfortunate bit of bashing going on here. Guess no one else has any experience with these OZO shocks on an MAR then, eh? PMK has more than enough experience and skill to make them work. Just sayin'.....

    Seeley Honda

I'd jump on board immediately, but I don't own one. Yet.....
  10. The more experience you gain in Trials, the more you will realize how much wider pegs lead to lower scores, not to mention non-aching feet.

There very well may be a 16mm roundslide carb that will swap on, I never really researched it. We went with the 18mm Mikuni because we were already doing minor port and head mods at the time. The engines ran well with stock TKs (if we could find some that didn't have worn slides), but they woke up pretty well with the 18mm Mikunis. If you do decide to go with the 20mm kit, I would humbly suggest you put it on an engine with a fresh top-end to give it a chance to ingest what a 20mm carb can deliver.

I saw a kit like that some years ago on Fleabay. Boxy-looking manifold and what was advertised as a 20mm Mikuni. Last I checked, it was still Out of Stock. If you find one, make sure that the carb is a gennie Mikuni, not a cheap Chinese copy. Those tend to be of dubious quality, leading to tuning frustrations. Taiwan Mikuni copies have a pretty good reputation, though. We always wondered how the 20mm would work on a TY80. That's a huge step up from the OE 16mm TK.

    240 head mod

Heck, I saw what a 240 could do at the Mosteller Cup this year. Young gun Nigel Parker rode one in the morning doing flick turns, hopping both wheels, and generally riding it like no 240 was ever designed to be ridden. He went on to ride his Sherco in the afternoon, earning an Ironman. The 240 was neither restored nor restomodded, it was an original survivor.

No, not even close. I suppose you could make an adapter, but that just forces an 18mm carb to choke through a 16mm opening.
  15. Got a nice one there, PDX. Your son sent me that photo when you got it, looks pretty decent! Judging by your TY and Montesa refurbs, that one will also be sweet when you are done. ? Getting a weak spot in my head for Fantics ever since I bought a 305 for the SO to compete in our Vintage club with. I'm up to 9 Montesas, so maybe it's time for another Fantic... ?

Fork tubes aren't cast. Perhaps a pic of what you are describing will help.

Based solely on your description, it sounds like the plug weld that secures the threaded insert.
  18. You need some quality peg time....

We need another run of manifolds since the team has acquired what, something like 5 or 6 more bikes since that first run was made. I understand that the machinist that made them for us was considering selling and retiring, so I guess we'd better hustle.

The carb is a Mikuni VM18, got it from Viperizer racing. It came in a Sudco box, though - http://www.viperizerracing.com/Mikuni-VM18-Carburetor-p/su001.001.htm The manifolds we had made, all that is (somewhere) in the ADV thread I sent. There was a carb/manifold kit on Fleabay some years ago with VM20 carb and a custom manifold, but I haven't seen it in years, and a 20 is a bit big for a 72cc Trials bike.

    Carburetor

I never tire of the banter between you two. As mentioned above, high revs on full "choke" is not an uncommon occurrence on 315Rs. I control it by manually moving the enrichener ("choke") lever manually, keeping the revs up (but not to the moon) until the engine will idle without it. It usually doesn't take very long. Congrats on your purchase! Got any pics?
