  1. I'm hoping that the new T Ride trail bike has the same engine and tune as the SYF. That would make it a brilliant Long Distance Trials Bike if it has.
  2. My goodness, I'd hate to think what I'd look like if I'd done that ammount of damage to my bike. We don't all bounce as well as you obviously do
  3. Trials rider and former motorcycle dealer Bill Faulkner will be the guest speaker tommorrow evening at the Strtaford-Upon-Avon Clubs social evening. The event kicks of at 8pm with Master of Ceremonies Alan Wright introducing Bill at the Tiddington Home Guard Club, Tiddington near Stratford. There is no charge for the entry, just turn up and enjoy a pleasant night.
  4. It would be worth cleaning the carb and air filter whilst you were at it too.
  5. Good stuff.... amazing to 'run' away from that one.
  6. I think you would go just as far on a tank full of fuel in a Scorpa than any other modern 2t trials bike.
  7. Yes of course they are more vulnerable. Unlike Sherco's etc the fuel tank is not protected within a steel/alloy frame, so they have to be more likely to be damaged. That said, I am on my fifth year of owning Scorpa's and have never had a problem with damage to my tanks. The bonus is that you can easily remove and drain the tank if contaminated particles get in there.
  8. Auction finished and it didn't sell... why not go along and get yourself a real bargain?
  9. I got the same message again earlier today but everything seems ok now. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but haven't we been missing chat for a week or two now? Ever since the new style forums?
  10. I had a coupl of pairs of Alpinestars and they lasted very well indeed, however they took ages to soften up. I then bought a pair of Novogars and I could wear those comfortably from new. I am now on my second pair of Gars, however the tread wears out quicker than the boot.

    Fan Squeals

It goes without saying that if you are in any doubt about the fan then change it. It will be far cheaper than an engine rebuild.
  12. No need to appologise for the clash, the OK Supreme is aimed fair and square at Trail and Enduro bikes. We put in a twin shock class and a British bike class purely because there is a large club membership who ride these types of machines and like to do the OK themselves. Our proper Classic trial is the Sam Cooper Union Jack which is a round of the Sammy Miller championship in May. For the classic trial, this year we will be checking some aspects of machine eligibility in scrutineering. Anyone found breaking the series rules will be moved to the specials class. We don't want to put anyone off entering but machines which break the rules will simply be classed as specials. No drama.
  13. I emailed my local MP (Peter Luff Cons) about this subject and he wrote back saying that the opposition would oppose this legislation as there are enough existing laws which could be used to prevent anti social use of motorcycles and mini bikes, without having to go down the complicated and costly registration route. The Gov should simply ensure that existing laws are correctly applied.
  14. Well done to Tony Bou for winning the Indoor World Championship. Looking down the list of riders he beat to take the series; I was wondering how many World Championships the riders Bou has beaten have between them? Kind of makes Bou's debute on the 4RT rather impressive, doesn't it?

    Scorpa Silencer

I would like the answer to this question too. We've done a long run of road trials recently and the silencer is getting decidedly 'poppy' on my '05 SY. In addition to this, the centre box also split last week, so if the silencer job requires welding I may as well get the both done at the same time.
  16. Sounds like a well thought out and fun event. A class for everyone.
  17. You'd have to like polishing more than riding to own a bike like that...... it is very well done.
  18. There is some mileage to be gained with positive public relations, but I think the cost of an effective campaign would outweigh the benefits. The best we can do, is to try and keep our own house in order. For example, make sure riders are aware of any public footpaths on route. The footpaths are clearly marked and that riders ride very slowly when near them. On a different matter within the same subject. At last weeks Colmore cup, we now have a slight (potentially big) problem with a neighbour of one of the groups called Dovedale Wood. This fella has recently moved into a nearby farm (although I believe he is not a farmer) and has taken offence at the noise made by bikes in the wood. Fair enough, his right. The problem we now have is compounded very much by the new breed of fourstroke trials bikes. I have never before stood outside the wood and been able to hear the bikes, but this year the sound of fourstrokes echoed for litteraly miles around. I don't know which fourstrokes that were making the noise but I certainly couldn't hear any two strokes engine noise what-so-ever. And I don't need to tell you who's house was between the bikes and where I was stood! Why are the Montesa's so loud when the Beta's manage by sounding like sewing machines? It's not doing us any favours.
  19. I couldn't log onto Trials Central all day today. Has anyone else had this problem? It just kept coming up with some kind of error message and a load of programme jibberish
  20. The 'standard carb' idea won't work but perhaps a 'pre65 carb' ruling might be better?

    Beta 4-stroke

Please put us out of our misery.... why did you "hate" it? I might hate it for just the same reason if I knwe what it was.
  22. Welcome to TC Fredster. As you've already seen, you'll never get a straightforward answer to such an open question on here. Everyone means well and generally you will get the very best advice available if you ask for a specific solution to a problem. But asking what bike is best is like asking which football team do you support. Many people also say that it's best to got for a 200 or a 250 (which would be my advice) however, there a lot of club riders on 270/280/290/300, so that's no real help. One thing which is fairly certain is that any modern, well looked after trials bike will do the job. Obviously the newer the better, however there are also older bargains to be had if you know what you are looking for..... now that's where this forum will come into it's own. For example (and taking a random bike straight off the top of my head) if you saw a Yamaha TY250 mono for sale and you were going to have a look. Ask for the things to look for and problems likely to be encountered with a TY and you'll get some very good answers in the Yamaha forum. Once you do get a bike, have a go at a local club trial..... you'll find it a sociable experience and a lot less 'clicky' than mx or road racing. Good luck and keep us informed as to what bike you go for.
