  1. Any recommendations for the torque settings for the steering bearing nut and the steering top nut? I presume since they are taper roller bearings, the steering bearing nut it tightened just a bit past contact, making sure no play, yet still have free movement. I am not sure for the steering top nut. thanks!
  2. Hmm, The repacking has a few tricks to it. Just completed another one a couple of days ago. (1) very tightly wrap the packing and put three wraps of masking tape on it - holding it tight. (2) insert the wrapped in the muffler first - it will be easier to align with the pipe way down the muffler without the plastic muffler tip on. (3) Once properly inserted into the muff, and sitting properly on the pipe, then put on the plastic end piece. A flashlight will help you align it. (4) Gently move the tail pice up and down to align it with the pipe - do not force. Then have a couple of beer.
  3. for 1-2 ft logs, I think I have been doing it all wrong. And it has really come to light as I try to do double blip. Basically I have been raising the from wheel with the intention to hit the top 1/4 of the log approaching the top of arc of travel of the front wheel lift. Then a buddy pointed out to me to try to land the wheel to hit the top 1/4 of the log, but **on the way down** of the arc of travel of the front wheel. As soon as I touch, another blip to raise the front again, to expose the back wheel and over I go. Attached are a couple of pics. What do you all think?
  4. Yes, but the video does not show the long logging road sections. Nice to give the old back a break. Anyhoo, back to my question. Does anyone have any other seat options other than what I listed? thanks
  5. Very cool - we'll give those a shot! thanks!
  6. A friend just got an 09 200 as her first trials bike. Great machine. The throttle is a bit soft coming off idle and then has a hit. I was wondering if I can smooth this out somewhat with a bit of jetting work? It already has a black throttle tube if that makes any difference. thanks!
  7. Hey gang, I am back in the GG world with a nice new (to me) 2012 Raga. I *love* the suspension - and oh that clutch! I better start getting more cleans with this baby! Anyhoo we have a once a year event that takes 5-8 hours on nasty trials only type trails. 70% of the crowd use trails bikes. Year before last I did it on my Beta with the LR seat. This year I was going to do it on an explorer, but now I gots meeself this wonderful raga. So I am looking for a seat. I have seen the velcro Jitsi, and the buttrest. Are there any others? thanks!
  8. Lotus54 (Mark) gave me the info: Remove the top shock bolt Just inboard of about the foot pegs, look for a circlip on each side ( look under the brake pedal, forward of pegs) That holds the main pin in. Drive that pin out, either side. I'd use a brass drift since it is aluminum. Remove the two large Allen bolts (directly above that pin) You don't even have to remove the chain. Remove the rear brake master cylinder. Slide the swingarm, linkage and damper out as one piece. Then You can service all the linkage. I use a silicone grease with Teflon. I'd recommend doing it fairly often if you ride in the water/mud.
  9. How do I remove the swing arm without removing the engine? I have every off of it (wheel, brake, chain tensioner, guide), and I undid the two large torx bolts on either side of the swing arm, but the swing arm does not want to pull out. thanks!
  10. Thanks for the info - I will hold out for some TY mono forks then.
  11. I need to replace the front forks on my TLR200 with something other than spagetti. Everyone says to get forks from a TY mono, unfortunately, around here, they are hard to come by. There is a 82 Monty Cota 200 front end - are these forks any good? Better than the TY mono? thanks
  12. I thought there were really no 13s at all, they were just 12s. Maybe that was just the explorers.
  13. That'd be it. Hmm, its pretty simple, perhaps I'll just make one.
  14. My tr280 rear lower chain guard is busted. Does it have to be an OEM one or is their a better aftermarket one that will fit? thanks
  15. Got some! A buddy with an explorer sent me some pics. thanks
  16. Mark, try John at OSSA Canada - he might have a spare or an old part: 519-720-1099
  17. I could not find the right on online (although I did find a bent one like mine!) Thanks for looking. Unfortunately that picture show it from the bottom view, I need the side view of where the flange mates to the swing arm.
  18. At a recent event my bike got knocked over and it bent the crap out of the mounting plate of the side stand. Can someone shoot me a close-up picture of theirs so I know how to bend it back into place? thanks
  19. Perfect! Glad you got it sorted.
  20. Cables can be gotten for *way* cheaper. But the cable is useless unless you have the software. GasGas has the KScan software for download, but this does not work with the OSSA EFI.
  21. Viper: I 100% agree with andy1. That_a_five - even though 4RT and TR280 are EFI - they are very different bikes and start much differently.
  22. Tell us your **exact** procedure that you are using to try start it. How much throttle Do you put it to TDC How hard of a kick
  23. Hi Alec, if you cannot get it the Kscan software or a copy of the OSSA software, I suggest calling Nigel and see if he will be attending a competition in your area. He might be able to bring his laptop and cable and get you all sorted. I had my 2012 ECU remapped and TPS set and all problems were solved. Yours should not be flooding at all.
  24. So tell me about how you did the wheels. Aren't the gasgas wheels 32 spoke?
