If in doubt....FLAT OUT !!!! you don't need lessons from Browny to teach you that
-
Haven't you learned by now that England football players are a bunch of over-payed, over-hyped and over-groomed softies who never get any further than the quarter final of any competition
Knob!
What's all that about? you're from Scotland !

Cheers for the reply
'Frosty and freezing or lashing it down' sounds like perfect weather to me, stops me overheating.
Suppose I should legally be drinking orange juice but I reckon I'd function better if re-fuelled with a pint or two of Mashams finest
Cheers again,

Can anyone give me a few details about the Vic Boyes trial? Miles covered, roadwork, sections, availability of Black Sheep Ale at finish . Can't ride it this year but when I'm 17 next year I'll maybe put an entry in. Seem to remember my uncle saying that a trial around the Danby area were his favourate.
Cheers

If you're making the stand to sit under the sump, have either a hole or removable section to make it easier to do gearbox oil changes. Came up with that idea in the back of my maths book when I were at school and thought I'd come up with a brilliant new idea, only to find about 2 weeks later that some stand companies already do this !

Booked a place on the Sandiford Montesa test day this morning, can anyone who's been before give me a bit of info on the structure of the day, amount of time riding e.t.c
Cheers

Shoot 'em(murderers, terrorists e.t.c)! solves the problem of overcrowded prisons if nowt else, and as for the teenagers of today (not all though, I've turned out allright as have most others) that terrorise our towns, National Service is the answer, get some respect into them.
As for the dog muzzle article I didn't know whether to laugh or pull my hair out in despair at how those in charge of these matters seem to have fresh air between their ears. At least while there's countries fighting and trying to blow each other into oblivion, we give other countries a good laugh when they see the state of ours.

Don't worry you're not alone, sounds just like me and my Dad on the way home from a trial

Fair enough...
I heard that the Jitsie air filter is thicker than the standard Beta one and doesn't allow the engine to breathe properly. So, maybe the thick filter and raised lid just brings it back to the same level as a Beta filter and Beta lid! Are you using a Jitsie filter?
No I'm not using a Jitsie filter and I can see the point you are making, that post is more along the lines of what I were after when I started the thread
I can see from the picture what the filter looks like I just wanted to know if it increased performance.
-
I couldn't care less how it'd look on my bike!
The only reason I am interested in the airbox lid is because I want to get more air into my Beta 125 so it'll rev better, this isn't a gimmick as Jack Challoners bike has a similar airbox lid and I doubt he'd have anything unnecessary on his bike
-
Yes , be bloody careful washing them! They're brilliant things but I washed my pair at 40degrees and then dryed then on the radiater which buggered them up because it de-laminated them
-
Just looking at the Jitsie website and they are doing a Beta airfilter cover that allows more airflow than the standard one. Seem to remember hearing that SXS were going to make something similar.Has anyone got one of these and is there a noticeable difference in performance?
Cheers,
Rob

Reet then, as a 'youff' rider I'll give some of my opinions....
Looks-wise the Diego Bosis 125 4RT looks awful but then again if montesa were to bring out a 125 4rt I don't think it'd be tricked up quite as much as this or the price would be sky high!
The performance of the bike is more important though and it'd be interesting to try the 4rt with half the cubic capacity. I've had a go on a 4RT before and the amount of torque is amazing but I wonder whether a 125cc 4RT could keep some of that torque. The other thing I think could be a problem with the 125 4RT could be top-end revs (a bit like the 250 4RT in the indoor trials). Then again if Diego Bosis is competing on one then that answers the performance question (but how much of that bike is standard!)
Last year I rode the Scorpa 125 4 stroke at a Scorpa test day and went with the mindset that I'd give this bike a fair chance despite being biased towards Beta. I just couldn't get along with it though, the clutch had no feel, the sump-plate kept chucking me off whenever it touched a rock and just overall I couldn't get along with it. Most people think the Scorpa 125 is an un-competitive bike anyway but Dale Robson won the Scarborough Youth 2 day on his so maybe it's just a matter of adapting to it, although I can't see it winning in Youth A class, then again I could be proved wrong.
The 250 4RT is already established as a good bike though so problems with the 125 Scorpa such as the clutch and sump-plate wouldn't exist. It's just the weight and engine performance of a 125 4RT would have that I wonder about, then add on top of that the price.
Still I'd love to have a go on one and have it prove me wrong!

Agree
I liked the way he used to hold a venomous snake by the tail as it is snapped at him with its fangs and he'd say (with that permanent smile he had) 'Better put him down, looks like he's getting a little cranky'
Great character!

The bit about the brake hose round my neck was just a bit of a joke to try and lighten up the post.
As for getting it sorted out I understand what needs doing but I'd rather someone else drilled it out as I'd probably end up making a bad situation worse. Bit of a pain in the a*** because up till then the work I'd been doing on the bike hadn't been too bad, honest
Cheers for the replies Alan and '2fargone'

Fitting a new rear brake hose today, removed the old one, fitted new one, got it bled, Job Done!
Went over to the rear wheel to put it back in't bike and thought 'Might as well tighten the disc bolts'.
What a stupid mistake!!
Tighten first one...fine, tighten second one...fine, tighten third one...CRACK
In my defence it wasn't like I were swinging on the spanner, just a slight turn but nevertheless I now have half a bolt stuck in the hub and an old brake hose likely to go round my neck if I don't get it sorted before my Dad finds out
I read this thread about the snapped fork bolt and wonder if I drill the bolt out and there isn't much left of the thread, can you fit a heli-coil?
Cheers in advance for any replies

Beta UK say to use 5 grade so that's whats been put in. Also when I said before about the forks being way too soft, the pre-load and damping adjustments are at there hardest/slowest and the bike is un-rideable.
-
What I forgot to say was that I had already done the oil change but the forks feel far too soft. That's what made me wonder whether I had done the job properly but I think I have so I don't what's causing this?
-
Wonder if the 125 has a mikuni carb or whether it's a typing mistake? Hope not
2007 Beta spec

Right then, feel a bit of a prat for asking this BUT...
How do I change the fork oil on my 2006 Beta?
Quick replies appreciated as I've already drained it and am planning on riding tomorrow
Cheers
