Every year about this time I have to ask myself - why do my local CofCs insist on putting me through the deepest mud that they can find ?
Its a lottery to get through it if it's more than axle deep and most of the time someone ends up losing their chain in the section and you end up queuing for hours in the rain.
I don't understand where this type of section fits in a modern trial.

Forgot to mention that it runs the std jets 110 main, 33 pilot.

You need to speak to Vince at Haven Trialsport. He can port your barrell/cylinder to '03 Plus' spec.
I had mine done (02 bike) earlier this year and I really noticed the difference. Its very very smooth, responsive and is much easier to ride. Its about

WOFTAM ? - You need to track down Orson Wells

OK so it ain't bike trials, but kind of links, trials riders on push bikes.
Just been reading January's MBUK and you get to find out what Jonny Starmer and Jason Bayliss have been up to - DH (under the wind of my neighbour Mr Warner) . And doing pretty well it seems. Woody Hole has done pretty wel in the past and I here that Steve Peat's not bad on a trials bike. Looks like trials skills cross over well to DH.
Always fancied a blast myself, done a few XC and CycloX races and done ok, just wondered what the DH race set up is like. Anyone had a go ?

I use one of those cheapo hot glue guns, sticks perfect.

It's a sad day when one of your own passes to the other side

The filter should be tucked into the lid. So you can't see the filter foam when the lid is on.
You don't need hardly any filter oil. If you're using PJ1 spray then just a light spray on the outward side (in the cone) and thats it !
If you want to you can seal the lid/filter with some filter grease - but I don't think that its really necessary.
If you riding in water and mud a lot, then once you have fitted the rear guard, under the guard seal the join between the airbox and guard with ducktape between the two fixing brackets.
You might even want to ducktape around the lid if you're feeling generous with the tape.
Similar to Mark C, I use the Isopon aluminium mesh glued in behind the vents on the guard to stop the **** getting in.
This combination has worked fine for the last 4 years.

I can't repeat my VPL comment from Saturday night in mixed company.
Do I look slimmer next to my Montesa ?
-
Perce is on the money.
From my slighly more athletic days (when I didn't have a Fat Face), it was two slices of toast (no butter) 500ml of High5 - maybe a Powerbar on the way. Then it was dig in - break away - hammer (the cyclists/triathletes amongst you will understand this).
I have observed frequently that Trials is actually quite a physical sport , so may be a bit of body prep can be included after oiling the chain on a Saturday night - and I don't mean oiling the throat.
Hydration is your key - if you run out of water your dead. If you start running out, then your performance will deteriate very quickly. Forget your coffee and Red Bull - too much caffine. PSP, High5, isostar, etc are the boys to have in your flask.
This is the theory - I can't claim to practice it now - I'm too lazy.

Mh Racing down here in the south can do your shock for you, try them on: mail@mhracing.com
My view is that it's the spring.
If it were the compression damping the speed to the bottom would be slower, but it will still bottom - just more slowly
I would stick a spacer in first off and see how she goes. My basic physics tells me that a spring is going to lose its spring over time (bit like me really) - you might want to quiz Mark @ MH about it
I assume you have the right level of oil. It might also be quantity of oil if you have lost some, it might not then be effective at full compression.
Enough Red herrings to keep you busy ?

Don't know anything about his new lid, but its probably why he rode so well,

Forgot to mention that Dougie and Shaun got a mention by Sybil Roscoe on Radio 2 at about 2 AM Sunday morning, just as I pulled into my drive. Someone had texted-in the result on their way home.
Maybe this the way to get some trials coverage on the Beeb, trouble is we will all have to go nocturnal to see it/hear it.
Compared with being at Sheffield, the HK coverage was pants. I think that it got squeezed by the football ( a ratings winner folks) and couldn't possibly have overrun in to the Martina Navratilova slot (seemingly another ratings winner)
Like Andy, StuartC, Nigel Dabster and quite a few others, I did the VIP thing at Sheff, I was a bit dubious about the VFM, but have to say that it was well worth the extra pennies - well done Jake and the G2F crew !
The moment Doug rode in to the tent after the podium was just like being in the winners enclosure at Ascot !
-
I couldn't see how he landed - but it looked pretty painful once Fuji was visible in the arena. I was amazed that he rode on, after the first aid attention - with his spare bike.
Dougie's mechanic immediately set to work on the no.1 bike to rebuild it - working using a hand torch - the pit area is pretty dark behind the curtain/screen - he was stripping off the bars etc. By the time it was all over, Josep (Fuji's Mechnanic/Minder) was still working on the bike. I watched him change the Rear Shock (piggy back Showa) for some reason. Maybe he landed right on the linkage ?

I lived with a polished frame for about 18 months and it didn't take much to keep looking good and didn't oxidise.
I took the frame to a local polisher, he does the R6 frames on the Endurance/MRO bikes that I work on. About

I have a vague memory of the Arden's making an alloy sump plate for the 200 and 240 - was quite a straight forward design. I had one on a 240 but then again I have always been an all show and no go kind of rider.
You'd be amazed at the protection that the plastic one offers, when the real Subira, Burgat and Co were riding the Worlds in the 80s they used the plastic guard, as did Brian Fowler's UK Fantic Mob.

Its an imposter - that man's got more Chin's than a Chinese Phone Book.
I haven't got that many chins in real life. Have I.......... ? My Pre-xmas diet obviously isn't working. I'll be changing my alias to 'Fat Face' then.

Ooops.... that's how rumours start !

Apparently there's been a huge off-shore betting scam going on - lots of money being laundered through the bookies :beard:
A Moscow spread betting syndicate is being held after an early morning raid
Massive investigation. It's all over the paper.
So Jonny decided to give it back, they asked around in the BBC to see if anyone wanted it - they were just going to toss it in the bin. I thought it would look good on the mantlepiece, so I grabbed it. :snowman:

One exercise that my physio recommended seems to work really well - she called it a skaters dip.
No impact or real stress on the knee. But as you are balancing on one leg and then dipping, your muscles and ligaments have to work very hard to steady you. As you get stronger you can hold some dumbells and increase the load as you wish

I would add, that anyone with an injury or previous injury should consult a physio before trying this - some recommend it and some don't.

A variety of colours could be seen at the Dirt Rider Expo - including one that could be otherwise be known as Sherco Blue.
Woody had XC-Ting on in his Sherco promo article in TMX. This looked grey in my copy

What a load of pants !
I am a fan of most sports but found myself strangley draw to the kitchen making cups of tea for the missus, and then reading the Sunday papers.
Poor Neil Hodgson was made to do the daftest stunt, especially if you'd just been watching Top Gear.
Highlight of the show had to be Paula Radcliffe's outfit and Lance Armstrong's Oversea's Personality. (Interesting as the Beeb don't cover the TDF)
OK so the Rugby boys have had a result, but the rest was a complete nonsense - Matrix spoof for snooker, Ranieri interview, Frank Bruno, ahhh - what a waste ofthe license fee.
-
These boys aren't up your way - but they do a most excellent mail order service. www.hyperbolt.com

Thanks for the suggestions, a bit of surfing some mail order at : http://www.dirtbikestore.com
