  1. I don't know about the exact orange paint colour code. But from what I gather the first "Orange 250" grippers TR80's off the production line were still yellow like the 350's. They had "Orange 250" frame and engine numbers but were yellow in colour. The colour change to distinguish a 350 Yellow from a 250 didn't come 'till slightly later. Ossa was in a mess in those days.
  2. Replaced the stator. Problem solved. Thanks lads.
  3. If you babelfish the article it says they have a 125 and a 300 4t for 2008 in the pipeline. The engines will be supplied by Suzuki.
  4. Its only 50cc. Click below for more http://www.todotrial.com/ttactual/pruebas/presfantic50.htm
  5. Spoke to MRS and they said the symptoms are very likely a dodgy stator. The kick start is already slightly bent. So I'm getting a new stator next week, I can't retard the stator even more.
  6. I got the local dealer to have a look at it. They're puzzled as well. They retarded the stator a wee bit. It's still running fine but the kick back still happens, not that often now but when it does it's not nice. I'm not a light weight and I boot it through on the kick. No reversing so far. Oil stopped leaking and the main bearings are fine. One of those things I'spose. But thank you all for your input.
  7. The timing hasn't been touched and its still spot on factory spec. timing. Factory scour marks line up perfectly. Nothing has been done to the bike for it to suddenly start behaving like this. The kick back is worse when cold but still can happen when warm. But now its quite vicious. Once started the engine works a treat. If I delay the timing I'll bugger things up. Strange! When I started it in reverse the clutch plates were stuck. So when I kicked it into first I nearly left my front teeth as a hood ornament. Lucky it was a gravel surface.
  8. Hi All, Got a slight problemo with my Sherco 290 05. About a week ago it started giving a massive kick back on starting. Ankle crunching, knee popping kick back, not normal. Yesterday when I got it started it was in reverse. When I stopped it and then got it running again in the correct direction it started leaking oil from the overfill, very little and clean. Stator is ok, flywheel woodruff key is ok, fuel and premix are as advised. Nothing had been done to the bike for this to start happening. When I do get it running and after running around massaging my knee like a little girl I ride it around and its perfect. Any suggestions please?
  9. I can't find it only a spare parts list? What I need to know really I suppose is the fuel/oil ratio, and which settings are on, off & reserve on the fuel tap. Anyone help please? Cheers <{POST_SNAPBACK}> http://www.shercousa.com/content2.cfm?action=9 Go for the setup & lube guide (pdf, its all there) http://www.shercousa.com/pdfs/sherco_setup...ation_guide.pdf

Well, I can't exactly waste the whole year waiting for something that, if things don't go as planned, maybe delayed even longer than June. Better a second hand bike than nothing..............well, to me it is.

I also saw the piece in TMX news. That and your original post (BTW thank you )on the matter got me pondering so I bought myself a Sherco 290 05 2-smoke last Wednesday. Had to do some basic maintenance but seems to be in good nick. Carb needed a strip down and a clean up. I'm going to play it cool until the end of this year and wait and see. There may be a mad rush for the handful of bikes imported into the UK as well as teething problems. Ya never know I may become a Sherco fan.

Can't wait till May. My sources were Birkett and a email from Scorpa themselves: Hi, The SY250F will be available in shop at the end of February. Best regards SCORPA Le lundi 9 janvier 2006 15:40, Contact <contact@scorpa.fr> a

I am seriously thinking of buying an SY250F when the come out in late February. I have heard they were having some minor carb problems but that they should be in the shops by the end of February. Does anyone have any other information on possible problems to expect with this new bike? Any tests done, any info available apart from the presentation pictures and factory brochures?
  16. Oh well STU beat me to it. His name is Idelfonso Ortega and he nearly bankrupted himself buying all the kit. On the up side he was given a stack of bikes. Some prototypes (envy). His company is called Rectificados Bellavista. Recificado meaning rebore. He is based in Franqueses del Valles about 30 miles north of Barcelona. He is not a Catalan and comes from the southern Spanish province of Jaen. He is near retirement age but I don
  17. Yes, its a lightner but it's not fixed to the bars. Starts on first or second kick but the float is a bit sticky. On a side note. I've had a very interesting Chistmas. In my Ossa parts quest I located the man who bought all the Bultaco, Ossa and Montesa machinery and factory bits 'n pieces when they went defunct. He still makes certain parts from two warehouses near Barcelona. Some of the history and what these factories gave him in the bundle made me weep with envy.
  18. Look what I found in my garage. Looks like my two yellows had a baby!
  19. Staple several Odor Eaters to the inside.
  20. They're ok. The rear suspension is "old school", too much dampening and even though there's a dial it doesn't regulate it that well. I'm being nice there. I was going to say the shock is a pile of colonic waste. Also, in my case, the factory hadn't tightened the rotor properly on my bike and it ripped through the crankcase in its first hour of use. Otherwise it
  21. It's not the tool, but the way it's used. Anyway my wife believes me. A Nikon D70, Nikkor 18-70 lense.
  22. Next time I'll post thumbnails :madsanta:
  23. I was feeling grim with a cold and antisocial but here goes:
  24. Franco had died in 1975 but the socialists did not come to power until 1982. Spanish industry was indeed being hammered by new laws which went too far the other way. The typical yo-yo effect that any society goes through after a dictatorship. Apart from trades unions having a huge amount of power, new imports of Japanese bikes did not go down well for the big three. The Spanish market was their playground and then it was all taken away. I remember speaking to one of the Permanyer family (old owners of Montesa) about 8 years ago asking about the last 3 Cappra prototypes. Monoshock, water cooled late comers but beautiful all the same. He was quite upset telling me how they were all destroyed and how the factory was in turmoil in those days of change. Rieju and Derbi fared better as the relatively poor Spanish were able to afford the small cc machines they made.
  25. Thanks guys. The metal to metal contact is very flush but I will try a liquid gasket even though there wasn't one there. It's probably the only solution. I've got the plastic guard but the leak started with it on. I'm just keeping it off while I sort the problem out. The bolts have thread all the way up and there are no stops so the guard has no effect on the final tightening.
