  1. @0007 I dont need the kicker just wanted to see the difference if one presented itself in a trial. Im practicing without one untill I actually need one to get up bigger steps.
  2. Im getting a HUGE tire this week if itll fit on my pickup. Looking forward to a new obstacle that I probably wont get up for a while.
  3. Oh yes, I got the bike with that tire fitted. Only been riding for 3 months.
  4. Ive decided to change it just in case. Was a hell of a job to get the bead back on but managed in the end. I train in fairly soft sandy soil with solid obstacles but I know my first trial is in softish terain. Gonna change the front the night before as I dont have the front with me here in the bush. I do have a issue with the front slipping and washing out. Thanks for the coments and advice.
  5. Ah, lesson 1.1 of game ranging......no religeon........no politics. .........no race (excluding motorsport)..........im out of this one
  6. Please keep in mind I am poor but I do have a new Michelin X lite tire to put on if I must. I need to "milk" parts/tires but I don't want it to effect my learning curve. Im new to trials and train every day. I have read you guys flip tires and would like to know by trials standards if this tire is stuffed or if I flip it ill get better tracction. If its affecting my lurning, ill put the new one on. What say you about its condition? Will the bike behave differently with some new rubber? My first trial is in 20 days.
  7. I was skrewing around with a kicker rock today and man o man does it make things easier. Reccon I could get up a decent step now and not these small drums. Now if all steps had kickers that would be awesome. Guess they dont so better practice without one a bit longer
  8. You gotta translate that one pls.
  9. The japzap works well for medium height steps but at what height step would you need to use a different technique like a splat? I know there are different variables but lets say good traction and a plain vertical step. What height requires a splat? Im far from ready to attempt a splat but I would like to know what height to work towards using a japzap before I need to focus on a new technique.
  10. Bwahahaha. I wish I had someone to ride with but no one is interested here. I am extremely competitive and all I want at the moment is to kick my dads @ss in our first trial. Im practicing a lot more and im 31 years younger than him but he still rides dam good. I cant catch him on the gp track bikes so im determined to beat him at this. I must say that my mantights are very comfortable and cool to ride in. I am quite a arrogant, obnoxious guy so dont really care what others think, even if I do look like a dork
  11. Haha on the man tights rather bugger these up than my super sexy BETA ones My timing is improving lots on this japzap thing. Its now not a question if ill get up a obstacle but its now how smoothly I can get up.
  12. Come ride in south africa for a bit. Im training every day at the moment. Usually between 1300 and 1400 and it averages about 25C, and its mid winter here. Summer time might be a issue as we get 40+C most days but it never stopped me before on my enduro bike, full body armour and all. Trials will be a pleasure this summer.
  13. I think its cause it makes the clutch sooooo efficient that these motors just rip the material right off Now im talking nonsense . I have no idea but ill still give it a go and see what happens.
  14. They would all need to be spayed like this then. I think his rothmans is one hot looking bike.
  15. Well ive changed over to cheap, gas station bought, atf and even a novice like me can feel a big improvement. I decided to give it a go after I got a Facebook message from Bruce le riche saying that him and his brother Brent, only use cheap atf in their beta and gasgas bikes. Well if its good enough for both of them, its gotta be good enough for me. Im sticking to atf and will change it regularly.
  16. Well my dad turned the "experienced" age of 60 this year and we/I discovered my dad has a minor issue with bikes. As you will see, the garage is most bikers wet dream. My pops has hand built all these bikes except my rev3 hiding in the background (if I have the right pic). And I mean everything, from chopping frames to fiberglass tanks, fairings, spraying etc...all from scratch. There are 3 classic trials bikes and 3 classic gp bikes and a classic Dart under the cover on the right which has since been sold to make space for his 2013 Evo 300 semi factory. The house was altered in order to park the cars outside and make space for more "decent" machinery. My pops own three trailers, all capable of carrying bikes. Now its quite obvious what the problem is.....the question is......how do you get Mrs Marriner to understand and cope with this illness. .......it is hereditary and I have it, just not the same amount of symptoms.
  17. Hi guys I thought I would start my own thread, hopefully where I can get some advice on "my" techniques. Im not very good....yet....but im working hard at it. Ive been riding for just over 2 months and try to ride for a hour everyday in my little obstacle course. What has improved dramatically is my ballance and throttle/clutch control. I still battle to use my rear brake and dont use it as much as I should....im guessing? ? Im slowly starting to hop the back wheel higher when doing that zap thing. Ive only started noticing now how much practice helps. Ive been frustrated up to now but today everything kinda clicked and I felt I rode good. I have a route marked out that I havent been able to clear but I cleared it for the first time yesterday. Today I cleared it about 60% of the time, so I made my route a bit harder. The first bit of advice I would like to ask, how important is the rear brake at a clubman/beginner level? In the past I hardly used it untill I got caught out at a trials training venue with lots of steap decents. My practice area is flat and I can get by with only the front brake so im consciously trying to use my rear brake more, even on flat ground. Is this a good idea or will I be learning bad habits? Ps: the pic is me trying a new obstacle that ive been a bit scared of and hey, what a piece of cake. It was not nearly as hard as I thought. Well chuffed with myself.
  18. Thanks guys. My tires are quite poked. Mainly due to age, tons of cracks all over the place. I have new tires, mitchelin x lite rear and a mitas front. Got the x lite with the bike and went cheaper on the front. My first trial is on the 11aug and I would only get to put my new tires on the day before, would this be too risky doing it the day before.......im woried something goes wrong and a tire leaks or something daft like that and I dont get to ride.
  19. Hi guys, a bit of a dumb question. ... When do you guys decide to change your tires, front and rear? Im presuming tire condition is more critical on trials so at whT point will tire wear effect your riding (understand this will differ acording to skill level). Thanks
  20. Hi guys Time to change my oil and would like to try atf. Have a 07 rev3 and live in the middle of no where and the only products easily available are caltex oils from the local general dealer/gas station. Can I use their atf? What do I need to look out for? Quite sure its mineral and not synthetic. Thanks
  21. Hi guys Does anyone make low profile knee/shin guards that will work well for trials. I dont mind bleeding, my pops does Cheers
  22. Hi guys. Appart from the std trailers or vans, what brackets etc have you guys built for your bikes? I just finished (still needs paint and tie down struts) today. I hve been putting the bike on the back but being a relatively new dad, I need the bin for packing space. If you have time, please show me the rigs you are using. Thanks.

    What Size Chain?

Thanks guys. My pops took a vernier to his 2013 Evo 300's chain against a 520 and its spot on the money. He also doesnt run a o ring for clearance issues with his rear sets (track bikes not trials). O rings are apparently wider than standard. Thanks again.
