July 19, 201313 yr As the weather has been 20+ degrees Celsius and I have a trial tomorrow what's the best way to keep cool whilst riding?
July 19, 201313 yr Buy one of the new Airoh helmets, very light with vents in them, bit like an mtb helmet,
July 19, 201313 yr Come ride in south africa for a bit. Im training every day at the moment. Usually between 1300 and 1400 and it averages about 25C, and its mid winter here. Summer time might be a issue as we get 40+C most days but it never stopped me before on my enduro bike, full body armour and all. Trials will be a pleasure this summer.
July 20, 201313 yr What! 20 degrees? That's nearly too cold to ride in North Queensland. As mentioned above good helmet, a shirt that lets the air through, we always ride with a "Camelback" type of water carrying thingy. Actually I can't remember riding with out it since I started up riding again two years ago. But a helmet that has good air flow is the go. Cheers Taff
July 20, 201313 yr Hmmm, 20c is room temperature Good riding temp, it gets over 30 and I'm not into riding anymore
July 20, 201313 yr Might depend where the room is. I get a sweaty helmet, shirt and cloves no matter what the temperature. In winter, if we start early enough or ride late enough in the day, could be 18deg, we still look like we've riding in the rain, it's not so much the temp as the humidity that's the killer. Cheers Taff
July 20, 201313 yr Lightweight, close-fitting, long sleeved, cotton shirt. For the same reason that the wilderness types say "Cotton Kills" or "Cotton is rotten", it keeps you cool. People in plastic jerseys that are like wearing a garbage bag with a few holes in it think I'M crazy!
July 21, 201313 yr I like a nice cool wet towel tucked into the neck of a T-shirt or jersey! Refresh out of the camelback if need be!
July 21, 201313 yr It's 20 degrees here, middle of winter and i'm rugged up with my jacket and long pants... bbrrrrrrrrrrrr 20 degrees is too cold to go riding
