  1. I feel your pain. Im the only bike enthusiast here hence why I went onto trials. I can now atleast play close to home. I found I started riding enduro like a wimp as I was always out by myself and often miles away from home in areas that others didnt even know about. Not a good recipe for a serious prang. A buddy used to ride with me but had a serious prang and lost his nerve so im on my own out here......just me, my bike, my cell and TC
  2. I also have the learning trials dvd but could not remember the guys name. Its good but not as good as ryans in my opinion.
  3. Oh that was you man handling that xr200 up that ledge. A trials bike should be a walk in the park. Cut drum with the flat side up should do the trick. Im looking forward to my second trial, its in a forest with rivers etc not the artificial stuff like my first. Cant wait.
  4. As triple07 said. I decided not to remove 2 bolts as I feel it was built like that for a reason. Had the pic from doing the dan williams clutch mod, to make sure I put it all back together right. Lots of guys have done it with great success but also with slippage with the guys that hang on the throttle.
  5. First motorbike you say......day 1 you say......mmmmmm, not sure im a believer.
  6. I know you were/are a stunter but are you not going too advanced with your obstacles in the beginning? I have no idea what your skill levels are so please dont take offence. Your spot looks cool if your neighbours arent concerned. I used regular car tires stacked up inside my BIG tyre and then put a old car rim inside the smaller tire, that way I can easily remove the centre tires when I get better. Keep us posted. Looking good so far.
  7. When the clutch cover is off, itll look like this. Remove 2 opposite bolts with their springs and top washers. You lie the bike on its side so you dont have to replace the oil. Thin layer of grease on the o ring helps it not leak and stay in place when you reasseble.
  8. Lie your bike on its right hand side, flat on the floor. Remove kick start lever and gear leaver. Remove clutch cover. You will see 6 bolts and springs holding the aluminium clutch together. Remove 2 of hese bolts and their springs. The 2 you remove should be opposite one another. Then grease up your clutch cover o ring and put it all back together. Very simple.
  9. I have both ryan youngs dvds and toni bous dvd and as a novice, Ryans dvds win hands down. They are allot easier to understand and I feel the way it which it shows and explains techniques is far better.
  10. Tried a new tactic today on my new course. I rode it in reverse a few times, minus the big rock as I dont have the confidence to go down bigger dropoffs. I also rode sections of it that I battle with and just did loops over those parts in both directions. I tried a few different lines and techniques. I still cant clear it but im handling certain parts better than before. A start I guess.
  11. Hi mr N. Now with it being your son, thats a different story.....no objections to sharing there at all. My pops lets me ride his bikes all the time. I would lend him mine without a doubt but he always has better bikes than me so doesnt need to. I thought you meant a stranger or a friend of a friend......that to me is a no no. Pls keep us posted with pics as to how rhe repairs go. Im also sure a decent tig welder could sort your pipe out.
  12. Hey mr N, sorry about the prang. I cant offer much help here but I had to repair a crack in my fender and I used a hot glue gun. Provided its not too close to the pipe or any hot bits, hot glue sticks pretty good. As for sharing my bike or lending it out, I just cant do it....I would rather share a tooth brush with a stranger. It might be selfish of me but its just something I cant share. If I break it myself, its only me to blame. Hope you come right and get back on the pegs soon, I feel your pain
  13. Thanks for the encouraging words. Yesterday I was frustrated so today I just played arround and had some fun. On the section, I can handle the rock obstacles fine but I just cant keep my balance doing tight turns on the rocks. Practice, practice I guess...
  14. The reserve is fenced, but is 186 000 acres. Used to all be farmland and needed to be fenced to keep the peace between the dangerous game and surrounding farmers and villages. Had a rubbish ride today. My new section is hard. 5ed and 3ed it a bunch of times and just cant clean it.
  15. The rock on the left has a knee high vertical section at the bottom that I try to hop the back up in a zap. The big rock on the right is vertical and undercut. One day when I learn to splat.....thats rocks gonna get it This spot is outside the reserve, so no lion to worry about but hippo are a issue early morning and late afternoon. They come eat the grass in front of our house in winter as we water the grass. Winter is our dry season. My artificial spot is at the lodge but I have a natural spot by my house that I get to ride when im on leave.
  16. I did learn a bunch at the trials. Cambered turns need practice. I managed ok but I could have been smoother. I was given 4 dvds on trials training so ive been studying them to get some tips. Biggest thing I learnt was concentration. If you bugger arround it will cost you. I have a new obstacle that I tried today and cleaned it first try. The rock on the left of my helmet needs to be zaped and the one with my helmet on, I double bliped. Are these the right techniques for these rocks?
  17. Well my first trial was the most fun ive had in ages and a huge eye opener at the same time. Excuse me sounding short but I have a fair bit to write on my cell. The trial was set at a outdoor expo on a 4x4 course so there was limited space and only 8 sections and 5 laps to make up 40 routes. Lots of spectators watching your every move/dab . My bike was running super lean. I thought my bike was fine but had nothing to compare it to. Turned out to be a blocked pilot jet. Runs awesome now, after the trial, typical. My score: Total: 48 (clubman) Rest of my class: 1: 24 2: 35 3: 35 4: 47 5: 48 (me) 6: 60 7: 111 I made some stupid and careless mistakes that cost me a few positions. Here is a rough breakdown of my faults. Section 1: 6 points 1 dab on lap 3 Lap 5 rolled back and got a 5. Section 2: 0 clean Section 3: 6 points Lap 1 got 1 dab Lap 4 front axle went outside bunting. Section 4: 14 points One tight @ss turn that even the expert s battled with. Section 5: 8 points A tight drop down a step then back up. Ended up sacrificing 1 dab to get through rather than trying to clear it and costing more points. Section 6: clean Section 7: 11 points Very satisfying section but hard. Lost 5 points cause axle left bunting. Lost another 5 points cause I tried the intermediate line but missed the gate out of sheer stupidity. Cleaned the intermediate line but cost me. Section 8: 3 points Lap 1 I picked a bad line and got 3 points. After that, I nailed it. If I work out what I should have scored minus my dumb mistakes I should have scored a 28 placing me 2nd. Sad thing is I could have but didnt, more reason to train harder. The bug has seriously bitten.
  18. A indian chap applies for a job as a sales man at Walmart. The manager says hell see how well he does by the end of the day and make his decision then. At the end of the day, the manager asks Mr Naaido....so, how much did you manage to sell today? Naaido responds.... $101 000.00 Sir. Manager....bloody hell, what did you sell? Naaido.....well first I sold him a fishing rod, reel, line, hooks sinkers and some bait. I then asked him where he will be fishing and he wasnt sure. So I told him fishing in the ocean is far better but he needs a boat. So I sold him a semi rigid duck with two outboard motors and all the safety equipment plus a garmin fishfinder. I then asked him what car he drives and he said a lowered golf gti with tinted windows and a freeflow exhaust and all. I told him that his pimped out golf would not be able to tow the boat so I sold him a chev pickup. Thats about all he bought. Manager.......and you sold all of that to one guy that just wanted a fishing rod?? Naaido.......well actually, he wanted to buy tampons for his wife so I said, your weekends f***ed, so why dont you go fishing! He got the job
  19. Hi guys Im putting on a new chain only because my sprockets show a tiny amount of wear. Can sprockets be flipped? Should I flip or leave as is?

    Wheel Bearings

My centre tube had no foam at all and has a lip on either side that goes into each bearing making it impossible to catch the edge of the bearing with a drift.
  21. Im keen to practice gaps and will maybe put some drums next to my big tire. Im only doing ground work this week. First trials is on sunday and ive neglected the basics up till now.
  22. I dont mean to be negative and certainly worth a try......but......hopping on a mx bike to see how fast you are will not make you competitive. You will be slow compared to the guys running up front. Mx takes years and years to be fast/competitive just like any motorsport. Im 31 and started racing mx when I was 5. Im faster than the average bloke but being out of competitive riding for10 years definately shows and I wouldnt stand a chance today at running up front with the big/younger boyz. Why not give enduro a try, trials skills should be more aadvantageous. I must say that I get scared looking at a 500 2t mx bike. Thats a whole different kettle of fish. Nice bike though.
  23. Tig would be best but is hard to do right. Mig is easier than ark welding and by the sounds of things you are just learning how to weld. No offence but I dont think you should be learning on something like a chair that will have some poor dude riding inside. It would be a spectacular FAIL if your welds parted.
  24. I can take vids but havent figured out how to upload yet. I update our twitter account almost every day. You cam check that out. Lots of pics. Search for makanyanesl or check out www.makanyane.com
  25. Sorry not sure why they are on their side.
