  3. Hi Funnyfarm 85 I am also from the New Forest and yes a member of the Waterside Club. There is a couple of others on here as well. Waterside is a great club, lots of friendly help. There is a trial this weekend Sunday 15th, will you be there ? Fatty

  5. Hi Waterside jmcc have a meet there 13-9-15 joint with XHG Tigers. I'm sure another club normally use it a week or so before. Fatty
  6. Thanks all for your replies. The problem I have is this, If I wash my bike in the back garden or on the drive down the side of my house our dog then walks dirt and water through the house. As you can imagine that does not go down well ! As I like to give the bike a really good clean each time I always seem to create quite a mess so I think I will try the local petrol station until they complain. Regards
  7. Hi all. This may seem daft but I am about to have a gravel drive layed and don't really want be be washing my bike off on the drive as the gravel will end up full of mud and dirt. Don't want to do it in the back garden as that will end a muddy mess. Do any of you use the jetwash at a petrol station and if so do they ever complain? Any suggestions please Thanks fatty

    4Rt Oil Leak

Jrsunt Thank you for your reply, had a look today and found the end of the pipe as you say tucked up behind the radiator. Has some sort of valve in the end of it, guess it must be a one way valve. All cleaned up now ready for next weeks trials. Just hope the knee is better by then. Thanks Fatty

    4Rt Oil Leak

Hi all Hope some one can shed some light on this one. Whilst out practising yesterday I some how managed to go over the handlebars and the bike ended up upside down half way up a hill. The bike cut out but by the time I got back up to it and got it back on its wheels lots of oil had run out from what seemed to be under the fuel tank. Within a minute or so there seems to be lots of oil all down the frame, the fork legs and even the radiator was saturated. The bike started fine so I rode back gentle and checked the levels and topped the engine oil and continued to ride. I did find what looked like a breather from the rocker cover with a small valve on the end of a pipe, would this let that much oil out? Should I be looking for a problem or is this a normal thing to happen ? Regards Fatty
  10. Pearson Not that I have ever done these but I am doing the back end on my 4RT this weekend and I have already removed the bearings on the Dog bone using a socket fairly easily I did notice in the book that when I come to do the bottom shock bearing it has a steel clip that holds it in. I believe its like a very fine circlip that if I am right has one each side of the bearing and you should get new clips with the new bearings Hope this helps Fatty
  11. All, Thanks for the replies and advice. As I am way over the suggested 80 kgs I wi go for the stiffer spring and have a play with the settings. Won't make me ride any better I am sure ! Thanks Fatty
  12. Hi All, I have a 2006 4RT and love the bike and have great fun on it. I was at a trial this weekend and some one took a few photos of me on the bike and when just riding off a section it looks like I have flattened the bike. I am 6ft 1" and weigh in at a hefty 105kgs, reading through some of the threads on here it would suggest the bike would be set up for around 75 - 85 kgs from the factory. Now I am a beginner so having the best suspension I am sure will not actually make me ride any better but looking at the attached photo it may make the bike look better under my load. I have not noticed it bottoming out but then I only really ride the beginners route so no major obstacles so far. I have not played with the suspension at all and I would guess in the 9 years of its life not a lot has been done to the suspension. Should I have it overhauled or go for stiffer springs ? Who in the south would be a good person to get this work done and help set it up again ? Thanks Fatty
  13. Sammyd 173 Very observant. Counted the chain and it only had 98 links on, went and got a new chain and it now has 102 which I believe is the standard for a 4 rt . I have however now ordered some new sprockets to change the gearing from 10 / 41 and will now have 9 / 43 which seems to be the way a lot of people run these bikes, no doubt will need a longer chain now ! Any way despite the chain every thing else seems very good and it's great fun to ride Fatty
  14. Well here goes I can now join in this section as I have just got myself a new toy 2006 4RT , not even tried it yet hopefully get out this weekend for a play Fatty
  15. Well not had the bike out of the garage since collecting it but here is a photo I took when I collected it
  16. Hi All Thanks for all your comments. I am pleased to say that I went to look at an 06 4RT on Sunday and have now picked it up. Not loads of history with it but it is extremely clean and recently had wheel bearings, oil change, and valves adjusted ( by Honda dealer ) Tyres are ok and body work is 100 % It started 1 kick and the fan cuts in fine Sounds lovely when you blip the throttle and clutch seems ok Even got two spare rear mudguards with it. Not had a chance to ride it yet but will get out on Saturday for a play. The only thing I have noticed is that the top end is a little bit noisy but having never been around one not sure if this is right or wrong Will report back after weekend Thanks
  17. Thanks for your comments. I am going to look at a 2006 4rt ! What should I be looking for ? Thanks fatty
  18. Hi all, Sure this questions has been asked a million times on here but here we go any way. Got a beta 250 techno to try trials and really enjoy so now want to upgrade my bike. I think I have narrowed it down to a choice of three but just can't decide Beta evo 250 Beta evo 300. 4T 4RT Any ideas ? I am really torn as I love the sound of the 4 strokes but wonder if I would gain more from the 2 T in terms of experience Help ! Thanks Fatty
  19. Hi I am in a similar situation. Just getting into trials, also from Hampshire. It seems all are friendly and helpful and when you start hunting around there are a few places to go. Where in Hampshire are you ? I found it really helpful going to a trial and talking to riders. There is one this weekend in the New Forest and I think one next week end around Eastliegh but depends where you are based. Look on here and ACU web site as they have club lists. Let me know if I can help anymore Thanks Fatty

    First Play On New Toy

Starr870. (Andy) Will have a look in the morning and post you some pics if you want The bike is a 1996. Just brought it a couple of weeks ago and went to four marks this afternoon for a couple of hours to try it out. I think I need to clean the exhaust out and have put a front tyre on it but other than that it all seems very good. I notice you are you are a member of waterside mcc, I have just joined and hope to go on the 13th, but if anything like today is to go on I will only be doing one lap as for some reason my wrist and forearms ache after a short while. Hopefully just need time to get used to it. Thanks Fatty

    First Play On New Toy

Sorry no good at this modern technology, here are some pics
  22. My 40th today so had a first play out on my Techno 250. Made wrist and back ache but had great fun and managed to stay on. Only basic stuff but got it dirty. Fatty
  23. Mike I brought the bike as my 40th present. Told my wife I would sort my own present and brought the Techno and all the kit I needed to do a trials. I live in the new forest and have joined the waterside club, they have three sites all within a couple of miles from home. The only thing I need now is somewhere to practice locally. I do have use of a small field where I can practice wheelies ans slow riding but not much else. Where is RRND based ? Cheers fatty
  24. Mike Sorry if I snatched the bike you had your eye on. If its the one from Guildford then yes I have it. I have not ridden much in the last 13 years and not off road for about 25 years but I have to say I got the Beta Home and spent an hour out in a field just playing and had great fun. I have lots to learn and found it quite knackering but soon got into the swing of it. The bike is in great knick considering its 18 years old and just needs a few minor bits and pieces tinkering with. Anyway should I get bored of it I will let you know Regards Fatty
  25. Jon V8 Would be interested in the glow plugs ! I am in the middle of fully restoring the B250, its had a complete nut and bolt rebuild including pistons, liners, crank regrind, rebuilt injector pump. Costing me loads but should be nice when finished. Fatty
