  1. You've just got to love our differences Definitely a good chuckle !
  2. Well I'm glad it's running okay now, sounds like you needed a tad of patience. As has already been mentioned poofs out of the exhaust isn't too good, if there's some oily smoke it could hide a multitude of sins !
  3. It sounds like your friend bought the bike and had it running for a while. Then decided to tune it up and maybe improve it some what ? It sounds to me that in the process of changing the jets the tune was made worse. You had it brought around to yours, whereupon you rode it around the yard, proving that it still ran okay but gave it a 'handful of revs'. In the past on a new 1979 Montesa 247, I went through quite a few woodruff keys. Perhaps it was just an unfortunate failure of the key due to over revving, exactly what it's designed to do. If the key had failed in the past then any previous owner would surely have replaced the broken key, smoothed over any rough divits and reassembled, just as you yourself have done ? The key is far softer than the crank or flywheel and should, in theory, not cause too much damage. Some pictures would be great. I presume the rest of the bike is a shed of a restoration too ?
  4. 201894200276 is the ebay number. If I wanted a great, mint, as new 4rt would this be the one to buy ?
  5. So who will be the first owner to lay out a couple of sections in the local club trial at which only they can ride, a nifty way of winning a trial I fancy. In fact if it's the last section you'd have not only cleaned it but you and the bike as well !
  6. This seems laced with innuendos ! Made me chuckle
  7. When James Toseland quit Motogp I always wondered why he didn't just try a left handed throttle and brake system, it might have taken a huge amount of brain training but at the very least he could've tried instead of moaning. His right hand would've done very little then. This is a very random post, sorry. The very fact that the op has mentioned a left handed throttle has set me off. Is there such a thing ?
  8. I've not seen what you're up against but a dowty washer has a dual seal attached to the internal circumference to help seal when two items are joined together. Just a thought
  9. Would dowty washer/seals help ?
  10. I had a Honda Acty van once, 550cc of pure power AND you could work on the bike inside if you wore knee pads and swore a lot. Two bikes fitted in just fine. Safety was a bit of an issue though as there were no crumple zones unless you include yourself. Thankfully even if this van idea catches your interest I doubt if any of them have survived the rust disease. Bigger is better me thinks
  11. mmmmm very nice It'll be good to hear your impressions after the test ride, it's always good to read some candid unbiased opinions on a bike especially when the bank balance is about to take a massive hit !
  12. Without a doubt Bernie Schreiber
  13. What if there was a disclaimer signed by all at the counter on receipt of the poisonous brew? Surely that's a simple soupolution to a pea souper of a problem ? Mind you having eaten a lot of parsnip, cabbage and carrot soup made by my Mum yesterday, I could well understand how various stomach pains and the odd frequent bottom noises could be construed as having been badly poisoned !!!! Can I sue my Mum ?
  14. That's okay, no worries....
  15. 20.1 bore 1 x 14.2 long overall,30mm dia lip 3mm wide 1 x 20.85 long overall, 30mm dia lip, 4.5mm wide. Both have a dia of 26.1 apart from the 30mm lips. This is according to my digital caliper which might not be perfect !
  16. From the album: Mecatecno 326

Bought this in March 1992 and it still lives, only trouble is it's not with me ! However it now looks better than it did then
