Hi do the fans constantly run on trials bikes in a wooded up area where there is no moving air passing through the radiator as my rev 3 fan seems to run constantly if im in the woods climbing up hills and if I leave it idling it doesn't stop nore a slight hire revs off idle It doesn't ither .but could I have a blocked radiatore
  2. Hi all my friend is going to purchase a 2002 txt 250 and would like to know what to look out for and what are the pros and cons are on this year of bike as the price is right for him but just wants to know what goes wrong with them that can be hidden antill found on a strip down ie clutch gear box you know the random stuff or cracked frames , chears

    Rebuild

Hi does any one know when to re build the engines on a rev 3 as a mine sounds abit rough when kicking over with no plug well slowly if ur check the spark and sounds like my mains are abit rough . And was wo during where to find torque settings for casing and head nuts chears
  4. You should use mineral oil to help run in the rings to the bore . Synthetic oils are to slippery and dont allow the rings to seat in or take any high spots off . Run your normale oil ratio or drop it slightly But do 3 heat cycles run up the bike let it get hot switch off a low to cool and repeat . Ride it but do not labor the engine or rev it hard for too long . Ride it for 20 minutes around a field with no hills so it's not laboring . Switch off and alow it to cool then ride it again and go abit faster id suggest after doing this 3 times strip down the barrel and inspect how the bore looks for even wear all way round . One other thing you must check the rING gaps in the bore as well normale you should have a 0.02 mm to 0.05mm ring gap . And remember cast iron blocks heat up slower than the aluminium piston so antill it looks like every thing is worn in nicely id say it's readdy for normale ridding .
  5. 70/1 is the mixture ratio so 70 mls oil to 5 litters petrol
  6. Chears for the help and info . One other thing how do I know when a trial is on near me as I want to have a go as practice is fun but putting the preasure on is even more fun . I live in Shropshire near marked drayton telford Shrewsbury area . Thanks ian b

    Amca

Hi has any one robe a trial event with the amca as a guest . I'm just wo during what the costs are as I know from mx a day licence can cost 50 to 60 quid . But on a trial is it any less . Thanks ian b
  8. You have to check your plug it is the only indication to how you engine is running so if it's white I would jet it up one to two sizes at a time and check the plug it should be a biscuit brown colour. If your going from 50.1 to 100.1 it's a 50% cut I oil which will make it run rich but adding more oil can lean off the mixture . But its up to you what you do just don't kick some one down who is advising you.
  9. Well it won't seize at 100.1 but it will wear out faster and run hot . But running more oil at 50.1 will increase power as it will seal the the piston rings and allow less risk of seizure if you fall off and the bike reves up . And remember you must re jet the carb if you move to diferent oil ratios so if your manufacturer sais to run 70.1 and you go 50.1 you must increase the jet sizes as you will run lean and seize up the engine and vise versa if going less oil you will run rich
  10. Be careful adding more oil than recommended as the jetting may only be set for that oil ratio and adding more will make your bike run lean and will cease it up so all way re jet the carb if u are wanting a stronger oil ratio
  11. I never thought you could buy a low compresion heads for trials bikes . Try vhm they do cylinder heads for motocross bikes but not sure if they did for trials .
  12. Well its off tomorrow as u prefers it with out . It rides so much better with out the weight and responds to me as if I was part of the bike .
  13. Yha i think it is smooth but the extra weight gives you too much torque and too much of one thing doesn't make for a better out come . I like the snappy power and quick shut off of the engine. I can see why people don't bother with the weights can't see how it make it easer to ride technicaly or learn to ride with .
  14. One thing you should never do is try and start it up with water in the air box or if u have dround it as you will end up hydrolickibg the engine and end up bending your conrod . If you end up getting water threw your air filter you should stop and dry it out and take the spark plug out and kick it over to eliminate any water
  15. You have to drive it in with a hard card bored tube of simular size no need to strit apart the fork just take it out the fork clamp slide down the hard tube plastic if u can find one and knock it back home making sure it is going in evenly But it should have a retainer but not sure . And you should find out why it popped out as it may do the same again
  16. Hi all went out today for the first time with the weight on and I must say I can see where the benefits are and where the cons are . And to be fair I don't like the way it makes it less snappy and run on alot and not switch off when I want it to I got caught out with this. But the only benefit id say is if u are climbing hills it's good for sure but that's it . So it comming off and into the tool box ready for any hilly sections .

    Sag

Chears thanks for the help il look at it tomorrow been out on the pub crawl and now paying for it lol

    Sag

Hi all iv got a 06 beta rev 3 250 . I know how to set sag on mx bikes but how do I do it for a trials bike as a mx bike its needs 104 mm sag ish . But on a trials bike what is the set limits and at 15 stone do I need heavy springs fitted as well .
  19. To me it looks as if the trade insert has pulled out causing it not to sit flush I would remove the pet cock and see how flat the tank is with a straight edge . And it looks like some one has tried to melt the tank to get the thread insert out hence why the petcock is not sitting flat . To be honist you best off buying another tank as you will waste your time trying to seal it .I know this is not what you would want to hear but saves a big disappointment of it leaking all the time
  20. Ow my that's one fuebared piston looks like lack of oil and posibly ceased up I bet the barrel was in a mess . I hope u didn't pay too much for it as you print much have done a full engine rebuild.
  21. Ok could be in between gears . Pull out the seal behind the sprocket and see if there is any isues with the bearing . But I gues a full strip down is called for . You could be unlucky and have some gear isues or a bush has gone hard to tell with out seeing it. Good luck
  22. U may find the chain is catching the frame if a bearing goes I would have thought it would be rough at full rotation . Take the chain off and rotate the front sprocket and make sure it rotates smoothly there will be a slight big of resistance but should feel the same all the way round . Chech for play as well up and down not in and out as the shaft does move in and out abit .
  23. Ok I gues they are good then lol
  24.
