Hi has any one robe a trial event with the amca as a guest . I'm just wo during what the costs are as I know from mx a day licence can cost 50 to 60 quid . But on a trial is it any less . Thanks ian b
You have to check your plug it is the only indication to how you engine is running so if it's white I would jet it up one to two sizes at a time and check the plug it should be a biscuit brown colour. If your going from 50.1 to 100.1 it's a 50% cut I oil which will make it run rich but adding more oil can lean off the mixture . But its up to you what you do just don't kick some one down who is advising you.
Well it won't seize at 100.1 but it will wear out faster and run hot . But running more oil at 50.1 will increase power as it will seal the the piston rings and allow less risk of seizure if you fall off and the bike reves up . And remember you must re jet the carb if you move to diferent oil ratios so if your manufacturer sais to run 70.1 and you go 50.1 you must increase the jet sizes as you will run lean and seize up the engine and vise versa if going less oil you will run rich
Be careful adding more oil than recommended as the jetting may only be set for that oil ratio and adding more will make your bike run lean and will cease it up so all way re jet the carb if u are wanting a stronger oil ratio
I never thought you could buy a low compresion heads for trials bikes . Try vhm they do cylinder heads for motocross bikes but not sure if they did for trials .
Yha i think it is smooth but the extra weight gives you too much torque and too much of one thing doesn't make for a better out come . I like the snappy power and quick shut off of the engine. I can see why people don't bother with the weights can't see how it make it easer to ride technicaly or learn to ride with .
One thing you should never do is try and start it up with water in the air box or if u have dround it as you will end up hydrolickibg the engine and end up bending your conrod . If you end up getting water threw your air filter you should stop and dry it out and take the spark plug out and kick it over to eliminate any water
You have to drive it in with a hard card bored tube of simular size no need to strit apart the fork just take it out the fork clamp slide down the hard tube plastic if u can find one and knock it back home making sure it is going in evenly But it should have a retainer but not sure . And you should find out why it popped out as it may do the same again
Hi all went out today for the first time with the weight on and I must say I can see where the benefits are and where the cons are . And to be fair I don't like the way it makes it less snappy and run on alot and not switch off when I want it to I got caught out with this. But the only benefit id say is if u are climbing hills it's good for sure but that's it . So it comming off and into the tool box ready for any hilly sections .
Hi all iv got a 06 beta rev 3 250 . I know how to set sag on mx bikes but how do I do it for a trials bike as a mx bike its needs 104 mm sag ish . But on a trials bike what is the set limits and at 15 stone do I need heavy springs fitted as well .
To me it looks as if the trade insert has pulled out causing it not to sit flush I would remove the pet cock and see how flat the tank is with a straight edge . And it looks like some one has tried to melt the tank to get the thread insert out hence why the petcock is not sitting flat . To be honist you best off buying another tank as you will waste your time trying to seal it .I know this is not what you would want to hear but saves a big disappointment of it leaking all the time
Ow my that's one fuebared piston looks like lack of oil and posibly ceased up I bet the barrel was in a mess . I hope u didn't pay too much for it as you print much have done a full engine rebuild.
Ok could be in between gears . Pull out the seal behind the sprocket and see if there is any isues with the bearing . But I gues a full strip down is called for . You could be unlucky and have some gear isues or a bush has gone hard to tell with out seeing it. Good luck
U may find the chain is catching the frame if a bearing goes I would have thought it would be rough at full rotation . Take the chain off and rotate the front sprocket and make sure it rotates smoothly there will be a slight big of resistance but should feel the same all the way round . Chech for play as well up and down not in and out as the shaft does move in and out abit .
Hi all my friend is looking for a trials bike to buy next month and asked me what the 2000 to 2004 scorpa 250s are like and i have never ridden or seen one in thee flesh so could any one tell me what they are like compared to a beta rev 3 or gasgas sherco basicaly the Italian bikes , Thanks Ian
Sounds like the vent was too small causing too much pressure in the tank and once high enough it forced fuel vapors out and so posibly condensing into fuel again causing this problem. Hence why drilling a bigger hole fixed the problem
Ow no iv all ready got a rev 3 just would like to know what the diferent bikes offer off what every one thinks it just a open descousin to see what people like and dislike about there bikes
I agree the beta feels abit harder to ballance in a tight turn but learning to shift your boddy over by hanging over the bike all most like you shift off the bike .iv rode a gasgas once for 10 minutes and liked how light it felt. But I wonder if it's down to the wheel base .
Hi all just a thought what traits do the different bike manufacturers have like gassgass 250 line beta rev 250 sherco 250 line. Just would like to know how they ride differently. i don't want a debate about which one is the best just like to hear what the differences are .
I think things are getting out of hand here. At the end of the day as long as u are on a trials bike of any brand having fun it shouldn't matter to any one what make of bike you ride at least it's more people out and about having fun .
