  3. Sent a PM to Toneh so hopefully he'll get back in touch!
  4. Help required! Has anybody out there rebuilt a 4rt Rear Showa Shock before? (Or had one fully stripped both ends) Or does anyone have experience, photos, schematics, drawings, or diagrams of all the internal components (specifically the rebound adjuster end if you were to remove the top mount from the rod) that they could share with me? i have one in bits that's going off to be rebuilt professionally but it will be no use if one or two components aren't there to begin with! Your assistance is greatly appreciated. Brent
  5. ACU membership required. Please join a club. I or others can give details of whom to contact locally to you. Sunday 21st. Host Club - Seaton Delaval Awaiting Venue Confirmation. Start time will be 11.
  6. Try the following: 1. Shedworks. Paul 07761408060. Or paul.cowley@live.co.uk Mike Pearce, Winchester. Found on Honda TLR Facebook page.
  7. Welcome back. They're plenty of clubs to choose from near you. Bedlington, Tweed Valley, Newcastle, Seaton Deleval and Tynemouth are probably your closest. You also have Durham, Consett, Stanley, Weardale, South Shields, Castleside and Middle England, all of which ride in the NE ACU rounds. Please look at the North East Trials page on Facebook. Ask to join and someone will add you. See you tomorrow at Doddington, Wooler. (Follow marker flags at side of road and you'll find it) Fantastic trial to get back into it! ??
  8. Neil Sturgeon, Jax lawson, Ray Crinson, maybe a few more but dont know their names! Facebook!!!
  9. I rode a friends brand new 300 Sherco (with Flywheel weight) the other day and it was super smooth! I would first do the following - 1. Fit 9 tooth sprocket. 2. Fit a Flywheel weight. 3. Adjust Idle so it'll still pull you along slowly and smoothly over uneven ground. ie Kerb, bricks, shale.(Taking into account your weight and rear wheel traction)
  10. Hi, I have an unmolested fully road legal 1983 TLR 200. (not the later Reflex) What electrical items can be removed for trials that will not affect its starting/running? How easy is it? And does anyone have a wiring diagram? The questions have probably been asked nemerous times but all i seem to find is answers for the Reflex model! Regards Brent
  11. Has anyone actually used one of these agents? I've heard some bad news stories and would like to know which to avoid and which to use! How do you go about NOVA?
  12. Hencam, The B40 FE Motor (350 Enduro Star) has the wide ratio box you require! These were only built for export to the USA between 1964-1965 but every now and again you see them coming up for sale in the UK. Better is the fact that generally you find the parts you require cheaper if you get them from the states! Simply search 'BSA Enduro Star' in that well known auction site and see what turns up!
  13. Q. Would i pay £15 to attend a one day trial and have a great day out? A. Yes Q. Would i pay £20 to attend a one day trial and have a great day out? A. Yes Q. Would i attend a 2 day trial at the cost of £40? A. Maybe Q. Would i attend a 2 day trial at the cost of £30? A. Definately! Q. Would i buy 4 (or 5 in some areas) pints and sit in the pub for a couple of hours? Cost £20 A. Yes Q. Would my missus go and get her hair done at the cost of £60 - £80? A. Bloody right she would!!!!!!!!! Trials is cheap!

    Montesa 315R

Hi, This site seems like a good place to find out this info! I've been looking at a 315R (post 2001, showa forks model) Seen some for sale in excess of £2750 Is it worth buying the 315R? Agree it was an awesome bike in its time and still more than capable of competeing at the very highest level (in the right hands), however here comes the big question! Are all the usual parts still available for this bike? We're talking along the lines of Piston, Rings, Bearings, Seals, CDI, Gasket kits, Plastics etc, etc, etc!!!!! Seen a post about discontinued brake pads and that got me thinking! Thanks in advance for your info.
  15. Dunk, 6 month ago (due to working abroad) i sold a mint 2009/ registered 2010 GasGas Raga 300 for £1650. (and it genuinely was mint!) Point im tying to make is buy new as you can, you can still get good deals every now and again but be very careful of those who are trying to prize your money away! You can buy much newer than 2005!!! Look for cracked frames, worn motors, etc! Even on 1 and 2 year old bikes this happens, people cover them up and sell on quickly! By the size you want!! Plenty will tell you that this size will do this, this will be too much for you, you should learn on this one!! All i say is if you really want a 300 then go and buy a 300! Yes its a steeper learning curve but boy so much fun!!! Just enjoy the ride! Which Bike! Thats you preference on what floats your boat! Personally I like GG. Others like Beta, Ossa, Sherco, Scorpa, Mont! I'm not saying i dont like these as i do but the charastics are slightly different! Basically GG, Sherco and Scorpa all look and handle very similar! Beta looks different, handles different but an amazing bike no less! Ossa is fuel injected, having probs with spares at present but a lovely bike. Monty 315 is a quality older bike which is rising in price. Monty 4RT is a 4 Banger so power delivery differs! Enjoy which ever bike you get! They're all better than majority of riders and the end result is they will all do the same!
  16. As there seems to be a resurgence of classic/ retro clothing for Fanitic and Honda does anyone know if there has been any reproduced for us yamaha TY owners? Looking more towards the TY Mono era!
  17. Is there anyone who still produces aftermarket Pink Mudguards (Fenders) for the TY?
  18. Caddy4u. If you've got some land, and its big enough, then i suggest you get in touch with your local trials clubs who will be more than helpful in assisting you!
  19. Firstly let me say that i believe none of the points raised so far are wrong! There is some exceptional valid points both for and against. One last question. Do we have a sport here.....or is it just a hobby/pastime. If its a sport then surely it needs to be publicised better! Therefore promoted and advertised. The public generally recognise the names famous riders from the past like Miller, Andrews and the Lampkin Clan and possibly will know who Dougie is. However, how many general bikers these days will know who Raga, Bou and Dabbill are never mind the general public. Yet all no doubt will know of Rossi! Gizza5 has made an excellent point stating that the way forward maybe in the purchase of practice grounds and competition land, as did Dabber in highlighting the fact that inch perfect trials are doing exactly this, albeit in the North West. Wish we had something similar in the North East!!! May i also point out i fully agree with cleanorbust with all of his comments because he's right.....mostly! According to the NE guys (and girls) there used to be alot more competitors in the 70s and 80s than now! I guess this is an ACU issue after all if we all feel strongly about our views!
  20. All, What is the average age of the competitors in your Club level/ Area trial? I'd say (and i can only look at my area) its about 45. Therefore if we carry on the way we are then in 30 or so years the sport will be virtually gone! Well done!
  21. I've read all comments with great interest! I do agree, the ACU need to make more effort in promoting the sport, however if the clubs can't be bothered to advertise and promote then whats the point of the ACU doing so! Promote via Internet, local paper adverts, flyers, open days, local shows, etc, etc! All come at very little cost, if any, to the club! Its just your time you have to give! How else do you promote? Easy! 1. Simply by organising excellent, well supported, well promoted trials for all levels that more riders want to attend and attempt!!!! 2. Make your trial spectator friendly. (This requires some thought wrt venues and obviously Summer months work better than others!) Last point - Kickstart no doubt increased the numbers of participants in the sport! Did it have an immediate impact? I doubt it as most 8 year olds couldnt go out and buy a bike if their families couldnt afford one! However i bet theres a few who watched it in the day who have now purchased a bike and enjoy the sport they only dreamed of when they were kids!! Next!!
  22. They're talking rubbish mate. Fill your form in, leave the VRN blank, ensure you fill the frame number in, send a 'nice letter' with all the details that the form doesn't ask for like engine number, year, etc. Enclose with your letter and form a cheque for £25. Hopefully within 2 weeks you'll either have your new V5 or a returned letter asking for photos, a 'proofed' dating certificate from a specialist club and your cheque! I've just done this for a 1981 Honda XL185S.
  23. Guys and Girls. Just wanted to share this you. This guy makes excellent Carbon Trick bits for your beloved machine. He can also make any bespoke part out of carbon or fibreglass you could ever wish for! Just ask him! His prices are brilliant. Please have a look. www.kelleycarbon.com He made me a GasGas Raga Exhaust sleeve (can't get them from JT7 or GGUK anymore) which saved me from having to buy the full exhaust system from GGUK. Put it this way I'm over £400 better off!!!! Brent.
