  1. I recall being told this when I got it, I just got out of the habit of letting it warm up fully first. Doh . I been letting it run for about a minute at most. I'll give it a bit longer till the fan cuts in and see how I fair from there. Once again thanks for the advice Leigh
  2. So it's starting it from cold and not letting it run till warm and switching off before warmed up i.e. fan comes in??
  3. Cheers Guys I think it must come from when riding the first lap of a trial, Get to section switch off, walk the section, start bike just before rider in front starts the section, ride section, ride to next section.....repeat etc . Not so bad, I suppose laps 2 through to 4 unless you're queueing up at a section. I think I'll fire it up sooner before riding the section so it's warmed up properly. And maybe let it tick over while queueing up. thanks Leigh
  4. Hi Folks, I wondered if anyone else has had this problem and found a fix? I have a standard 2006 4rt, no silly ignition maps or owt like that, but the spark plug is getting sooted(spelling?) up something bad. It looks as tho it's running rich. The bike starts to run rough after a couple of events and tick over is noticeably lumpy and stalls more easily as time goes on. I run on 98 octane fuel (more often BP fuel) and have use both puterline and pj1 filter oil to coat the standard air filter. the next thing for me to try is 95 octane fuel. After that I'm at a slight loss as what to try next. cheers Leigh
  5. Hi Folks, I tried accessing the spen valley web site today and all i'm getting is domain name registration site. Does anyone know if it's down for good or just temporary? cheers Leigh
  6. I've been thinking a while about this one, and It's probably been mentioned before. Other sports have designated / purpose made practice areas, some are more easy to set up than others. eg Darts - go to your local pub Football - any patch of land except where council say no ball games Cricket - as Football Rugby - as Football Tennis - most municipal parks have courts or sports clubs Golf - Name me a town without a golf club or three horse riding - any bridle path or road Cycling - where ever the roads take you Mountain biking - Any canal tow path, bridleway, footpath they care to use Paint-balling - A wood (possibly similar needs to a trials venue?) Motor sport is a little more difficult as specialist venue's need to be made, tracks or circuits etc but trials is different as sections change, and as you can ride over most obstacles / things dependent upon skill level you can make a section virtually anywhere. The only three legal places I can think you practice and not be a member of a club is a Cowm leisure, Bumpy and Doncaster moto park. Which is great but more are needed I feel. The question is how difficult is it have a piece of land designated for the purpose of motorcycle sport. Has anyone considered building an indoor venue? (something less daunting than the world indoor perhaps) Now it seems to me any spare patch of land is being converted to either housing or a golf course. I'm sure many of us have in the past have said "I wish I could afford my own patch of land and I would ........etc etc". Or is just me? Spleen vented.... I'll get my coat
  7. Thursday 07/06 6.30pm Eurosport2 La Chatre France sky + is set, marvelous
  8. Thanks for the replies , it's concurs with what my friends have all said. I just need to sort the finances out now !!
  9. An average clubman rider is thinking of buy a 4rt. With all the deals and such like available and waiting times for some models. Those in the know, which year and which model would be best to buy? and why? e.g. 2005...cheap to buy and good piece of kit 2006...re-worked engine, easier to start 2007................etc is the extra money better spent on after market stuff, like the Mitani gear any help most appreciated Leigh
  10. I'll be there with two of my mates from the barnsley TC, well as long as my bike is fixed by Sunday!!! looking forward to the trial. Do you know what the section will be like etc? cheers Leigh
  11. I think you would go just as far on a tank full of fuel in a Scorpa than any other modern 2t trials bike. I think beta's need the extra capacity to compensate for all the fuel that spills out from the carb!!!!
  12. A friend of mine has bought an 04 SY250 and he loves it, He had a big off and dented the exhaust, no damage done to the tank, he still loves it. I've ridden it and I like it a lot, a scorpa will definately be on my list of considerations when I look to replace my 04 beta. I think the only down side with the scorpa is the capacity of the fuel tank, but it's still a great bike.

    250 Or 270?

As leggins could testify, I'm a big chap and my 04 beta 250 never lets me down, It will pull my lardy carcass up any hill as long as I give enough gas. I would try someone else's 270 to get a feel if you need that extra grunt. I had a quick play on a beta 4T the other day and that felt nice. Shame I've no spare cash for one of those!!!

  15. If you're wanting to ride competitions, Spen Valley is only over hill and run some trials not far away e.g. Scammonden. I ride all the barnsley trials club too, much further but a good set of friendly folk and worth the travelling to, as they have some good venues. Only steam powered internet

  17. 4 sections were set up at the bottom end away from the main part of the quarry, section 5 was next to the buried pipline, 6 was in and out of the trees, 7 was the rocks in the centre, 8 was up a step and around to the blue face and out again, 9 was over the marbles and up on to the ramp leading up the side of the quarry, 10 was right at the top, a step up and then over some rocks and then up and out to the car park. Then all th e way back down to to section one atop the banking. It was a split start, small-ish queues formed only at section 6 and 10. Not bad considering it was such a comparatively small venue. I rode like a noob!!
  18. Ah ha, it's nice to put a face to a name. I started the trial at section 5 (rider 126), and my favourite section of the trial. I had two fives on that section Doh! I thought the trial was set out very well, with a good mix of sections. I helped with some of the setting out and putting up the safety fencing. I believe one rider went round for a clear ride on every section riding the hard course.! The last club champs at Barnsley is December 31st at Dovecliffe.
  19. location...directions...try this link.....clicky you may need to scroll out a bit to see
