Hi Nath,
I'll be setting out the course on Saturday with the Clark of Course and the rest of the team. If there's anything on the day your not sure about don't hesitate to ask were a friendly bunch. Just ask for Martin, Ian or Leigh, You'll probably see us whizzing around with a bag of flags setting out the course. There should be directions on the Spen website and the regs are there if you want to download them or look at the calendar here on Trials central. You can pay your entry fees on the day for no extra charge. The trial starts at 1pm but I would get there for about 12ish or earlier so you have time to get signed on and have a look at the course.
As for the routes on the trial we have three routes at our Novice and Beginners Trials. An Easy course, a 50/50 route and a Hard Route. Being an absolute beginner I would recommend you try the easy route and see how you get on. In a section all riders follow the course indicated by Blue and Red flags(red on the right), unless there is a deviation for the easy/50-50 route marked with Yellow and White(white on the right hand side). When you sign on you'll be given a number board(card) to stick on your bike, it will have two red lines through the number to help the observers know you are riding the easy route. If your not sure where you should ride in a section the observer will show you where you need to go. Lookout for other riders competing on the same course as you and watch them ride the section, it will give a good idea to what the best line is through the course is too.

just my 2p.....
We have a set of regular observers that turn up week in week out in all manner weather so I can enjoy my favourite hobby, and for that I can't thank them enough.
Saying that, we're often one or two observers short for the trial to commence and often it's a rider or two that has to give up their ride for the day. There are many reasons for the lack of observers but the one thing that bugs me is where a rider tries to "persuade" an observer to change a score in an un-gentlemanly fashion. Thus, possibly putting off a helpfull volunteer from observing again, especially if the observer is young of age. Sometimes the fun element of the sport is being missed by folk and that competitive streak over-rules better judgement.
I make it my mantra to thank every observer at trial on my last lap, I think the majority or riders do so as well. Wether it's

no probs,
I mainly ride at the west Yorkshire clubs like Spen Valley, but I do like the Darwin trials and try to ride at them when I can. A few of my mates come over from Yorkshire as well to ride them as they cater for all levels of rider.

Hi Folks,
Sorry about the short notice but we only found out Thursday night. The Spen Valley Novice and Beginners Trial this Sunday 17th May has had to be been moved from Dean Head, Scammonden to the Brown Cow Venue, Scammonden. There is another event on next to the Dean Head venue and parking there will be a problem. Check the Spen Valley web site for directions, and for those that have been to the Dean Head venue, the Brown Cow venue is opposite the road leading down to the Dean Head venue (Church Lane) and access to the venue is by turning off the main road through the farmers gate (look for the flags).
IMPORTANT: PLEASE CLOSE THE GATE AFTER ENTERING THE FIELD AS THERE IS LIVESTOCK IN THE FIELD - THANKS
The start time for the trial is 12 noon.
There will be 3 courses. Novice hard, a 50/50 course and a beginners easy course. The easy course is for the absolute beginner. The 50/50 course and Novice hard course will suit the clubman rider.
Looking forward too seeing you all there, have fun

I had the standard cluch plates changed as the cluch was like a switch. I noted the wurring noise at first trial after the plates were done.. they have been in 12 months no problem as yet. bike performs well. Not really sure what causes the noise.

mine did the plate noise thing with the mitani clutch plates, had the garage where the plates were fitted strip it back down, could not find any damage to case or basket. Has quietend down a bit now. I've also fitted a bigger clutch master cylynder, like the one fitted to 315, much better control and much smoother. Hope this helps
-
just too add,
I had the same problem and it was due to the cluch lever being not adjusted correctly, it was not letting the master cylinder piston fully return to let fluid from the reservoir get into the line. It may be worth checking before stripping everything down.
regards
Leigh
