  1. I have been checking an original Bultaco parts book special for official dealers, and in that book you can read that the first six speed Bultaco was frame number JB-19912885B. pschrauber, you talk about JB-19912876B being the first B model. Maybe those 9 bikes 12876B to 12884B could be prototypes for competition using the 326,2 cc engines 5 speed or maybe even 350cc with the older 5 speed gear box? The first one we have recorded at the moment is JB-19912920B in Palma de Mallorca, also another early one JB19912941B in Córdoba in southern Spain. The later ones still JB-19914912B in Bilbao and JB19914920B in Barcelona.
  2. Thank you for your post steven75, very interesting. Some of you as pschrauber or sherpa325 are posting that last 199B´s were around 14653B or 14778B. But as I wrote before we have already recorded 19914920B in Barcelona, and this particular bike has a Spanish road registration number since new and it is registered in the archives of the "Dirección General de Tráfico" since then (http://www.dgt.es/es/). The owner also has the original Characteristics Certificate of that bike provided by Bultaco and needed to road register any vehicle here. This archives are public and any person can access to the history of a registered vehicle. Also here in Spain a registration number is linked to a frame and it is not possible to change it never ever!!! But that bike is not the only one that is a later numbers to those pschrauber or sherpa325 regard as the last, as we also have for example 14894B in the UK, 14813B in Andorra or 14912B in Bilbao...
  3. We have some new clues: Registered at the moment the earlier and later 199B models we have are 19912920B and 19914920B, which talks about 2,000 bikes produced, when all books and registered data speak about 1,778 bikes from the 199B model. My question is: Were the numbers of 198B and 199B correlative, and adding both registered productions 270 + 1778 = 2,048 we have the total bikes produced of the B models both 250cc and 350cc? This is the only explanations I can find to the 2 registered frames, earlier and later we have at the moment.
  4. There is not a clear reason for why we want to find the latest Bultaco, and at a time there are so many why we would like to know... curiosity is strong and for sure books have no clue about what happened in the last days of Bultaco. Specially inside the factory dominated by the workers unions; chaos was big. Late bikes frame numbers... no control at all. The official factory records are not correct at all, and now we know that in the last months some bikes were stamped with the same frame and engine number to avoid taxes. After those bikes were exported to different markets; one to US, one to UK, one for Germany, one for Spain... The records we actually have, include the latest ones we know at the moment as 14893, 14894, 14912 and 14920. Do you have a later one?
  5. Hi: As many of you know, the last years of Bultaco, the factory was in the hands of the workers unions operating as a cooperative. Production of the 199B models was very chaotic and nobody is sure which frame numbers really are the first and the last, being the last, most probably the last bike ever produced in Bultaco. With a group of friends we are trying to find the latest Bultaco 199B number we can, actually doing a research in facebook and Spanish forums. The latest frame number we have documented at the moment is JB-19914920-B Maybe you have a later frame number? Please let me know!
  6. Hi Metisse, yes Maeztu is quite close to the French border. I think the best is to contact the club, in their web you can contact them. http://www.motoclubmasgas.com/
  7. Dates for Robregordo 2016 are 1 & 2 October. Some really good two days trials in Spain dates are also: Maeztu - 16 & 17 April. Maeztu is in Alava, Vasque Country. The trial is fanthastic!! Pobladura - 10 & 11 September. Pobladura is in Leon, very close to Galicia. Very remote area and a trials paradise. The three are CLASSIC trials of course. There are more but don´t know dates at the moment.

  9. Hi from Spain: For Robregordo the nearest village is Robregordo (90 km north Madrid), a very small village, but close to the A1 main road from Madrid to the north of Spain, so some hotels around. If you want cheap hotel, there is a hotel just in the paddock. The organization reserves it all, and riders coming from long distance have priority getting a room there. But you need to confirm soon if you wan a room. The hotel is basic, just a road hotel, so If you want a nice hotel, just 8 km north the paddock I recommend you: http://www.hotelventajuanilla.com/very good hotel for a reasonable price, but book in advance as it has just 36 rooms and that weekend it will be full for sure. Robregordo trial is 100% off road, so no need of registration or lights. The entry fee includes a special insurrance (third party and accident) so neither you need insurrance. In Robregordo you can choose to use a classic or a watercooled**** monoshock. This last ones compete with a handicap. You need a valid licence and a starting permit from your federation (ACU) easy and cheap to obtain. Contact me by PM if you need any help with entry or want a paddock hotel booking. EDIT AS **** OF COURSE IS AIRCOOLED. SORRY ABOUT MY MISTAKE!!!!
  10. Please note that due to some enviromental law changes, Robregordo has to move dates from May to autum time. The dates chosen are 3 & 4 October 2015. The bad news are that we will have to wait now 13 months untill the next edition of the trial. The good news are that Robregordo will continue going for some years to come in the new dates. Also Motoclub Sotobike will introduce some improvements. If you want to take part, please contact me by PM and the club will assist you with your entries and paddock hotel booking.
  11. In just one week this lady and myself will be again in Scotland for the Highland Classic 2014; the Dave Thorpe edition. See you there !!
  12. Maybe you are right. Not this again. Better let our sport leads to where we take it.
  13. I edit to erase my comments in this post.
  14. To make public the results in the awards presentation is something that brings excitement and character to the event. One year more I would like to thank the Scottish Pre65 Commettee for the good work done. 2014 edition was really a perfect trial with 60 sections cleanable by most of the riders, a spectacular route and a moving parade with the 181 bikes in the village of Kinlochleven. Also thank the past Commettee members for the hard work all the past years; the trial is what it is thanks to all of you. I feel very privileged to have been there. Javier Cruz
  15. Hi: I have this RM Lightning ignition in my 3 Montesa Cota 247 and can say it works quite ok. It works with the original flywheel so doen´t change the behavior of the bike. It changes a bit the carburation so needs to tune it up a bit.
  16. Hi Ducman: It is a shame I will miss the 2nd round of the TTC next Friday; aniway as you know it is because I will be with you riding at Aywalle Saturday and Sunday; which in the other hand is something I really look forward to. On the weekend 5 & 6 July there will be the 3rd and 4th rounds at Buster Lime Pits and Sethern in Dunsford. I want to be there for both trials. Maybe it is a good ocasion for you and some of your friends from Germany to make a trip to the UK and ride a couple of nice 40 section trials !!!

    Motak Sherpa 280

100% agree with Woody. Just have a look to the above 250 Vazquez, in the outside the only 2 differences with a 1978 original bike are the footrests and the front mudguard stand. Even the carburettors used in the Vazquez bikes (Dell Orto PHBH) were available in 1978 as Spanish regulations do not admit older carbs in the bike for classic competitions. The Vazquez bike don´t even come with tubeless rims; they have the originals as you can see !!!! Different thing is if you use a Gas gas fork; an aluminium swingarm; hidraulic clutch; modern carburettors, altered or very light frames, fat bars... etc etc etc that in my opinion should NOT be admitted in the classic trials. By the way I enjoy having a seat. All my bikes do have one. Lets play a game: How many differences can we find between the original 199 bike (pic from an old brochure) and my Vazquez Racing 198?? Also between this 1959 James and this 2011 James?? Note: The airbox in my 198 comes from an older model, something habitually done in the 199 models on the time. I agree changes in the classic bikes should be limited or evolution in bikes will take to big differences, tougher sections and a loss of entries as it is happening in modern trials.

    Motak Sherpa 280

The 3 bikes Woody tried on Sunday were also in Telford show. The 280 Motak Sherpa: The 250 Vazquez Racing: The 325 Vazquez Racing: Just missing a 340 full power, all together with a Puma could do a nice test article in any magazine...
  19. Entered the first round of the Twinshock Trials Championship at Congleton this Sunday. Very good trial with 20 sections 2 laps. Nice venue and very good sections and route with around 100 entries. I think it is a very good idea and initiative to try to get out the twinshocks from the garages to use them a bit and return to the trials of the 70´s. Bit muddy for a Spaniard... but aniway enjoyed a lot. Thanks to the motoclub. Some pics:
  20. Telford 2014 was brilliant. The weekend there really worth the trip from Spain. One day it is just not enough to see all and meet all the people there. For 2015 I will arrive Friday and depart Monday. Specially good stands Pre65 Scottish (good whisky...) and NTTC. National Twinshock Trials Championship stand, a good idea for a "low cost" twinshock snd monoshock champ. I´ll be there for some of the trials. Two very special bikes for me, Neil Gaunt´s winner Royal Enfield, that was mine for one year as I wanted to do the pre65 in a big bike, and what one better than this bike. Unfortunately reallity told me it is too big and heavy for me when I started to practice with it in Segovia´s rivers... sadly had to sold it. Mick Andrews winner James that I had the pleasure to use in the 2006 Scottish pre65 thanks to Mick Andrews, the best trials rider ever.
  21. Just to make you happy my friend b40rt. This one was easy; the rest I leave them to you !!!
  22. Not sufficient data about the cheats!!!!!
  23. In fact and according to the results O.T.F. must be quite happy... It will be a pleasure to share the sections with Mr. Vesterinen !!!!

    Fork Springs

I recommend you: http://www.suspensionhfs.com/en/content/en/trial You can choose clubman or expert; clubman is more than enough. You wont regret it.
  25. I use HFS Expert in 2 of my bikes; a Montesa 247 Mark2 and a 198 Bultaco and I am very happy with it. I use SAE 5 in both cases which makes the fork bit "faster". The combination oil + springs + air gives you a really big number of potential tunings. It makes you work a bit untill you are 100% happy with it; but once you got it it is the best fork system in my opinion. The instructions are very complete and shows you very good how to tune it and how spring + oil + air works in it. If you buy the Expert system, buying the pump is a must.
