  1. 349s have different side covers. The bike is a 247 from '74-'75 probably. I can narrow it down with a frame/engine number.
  2. The tank, small side cover and cyl/head assembly are from a 250 Enduro, about '74. The cylinder head by itself, carb and airbox and brake pedal are likely from the 242, as the appear very similar to my 200 parts. 242 carb is 27mm. The brake backing plates are 74/123/172/247 (110mm) the small exhaust pipe looks to be Japanese.
  3. 28M engine is a 123cc, probably from 1975. The 242 from 1984 was evolved from the 74cc/123cc engine of 1972. Nothing will fit the 349...
  4. 242, 304 or 307 Cotas are all 39Ms, all 237.5cc 39M0447 would be a 242
  5. 242, 304 or 307 Cotas are all 39Ms, all 237.5cc
  6. I bought it thinking that, but was sorely disappointed. On the other hand, I rode one that was all done up and it was very nice, reminded me of my Cota 123 for handling.
  7. I just had one of those not long ago... it needed freshening, but I sold it instead, compared to my Cota 200 and Fantic 240 it was basically unrideable.
  8. It shouldn't be THAT horrible, but they definitely force you to use proper technique. Also, set up helps, tip your bars forward a bit, forks on these are nice but make sure the forks have the right weight oil in them (feel compliant but don't bottom or top out very much) get the best rear shocks money can buy, set tire pressures to 5.5 F / 5.0 R. Play with weight distribution (yourself over the bike), it's critical. I sold my 247 because I couldn't find enough rear grip when I needed it. My Cota 200 was just so much better. My Fantic 240 is better than that now too.
  9. It would be OK if it were in real good nick. You'd have to wind it up pretty tight to get up bigger stuff. You'd only be able to use 1st gear up anything appreciable, so it's a fine line between enough power and spinning the wheel.
  10. Yes, they have stems and Schrader valves like a tire. Late 348s had them too. There's rubber caps to go over them so you can't see them.
  11. 349 is a better frame, 348 a more tractable engine in my opinion. The 349 air forks are an upgrade. I'd be putting the 348 engine into the 349. The only thing holding the case halves together, after the mag and clutch and shifter, and flywheel and kicker etc etc is off, is the press fit of the 2 main bearings on the crankshaft. If I recall correctly, the right side of the engine should be down. Maybe get a helper to hold the engine up by the left side case and then tap on the crankshft, no heat. You won't be able to hurt that side of the crank any more than it is now....
  12. Look for a small hole in the top cooling fin above the exhaust port. install a stiff spring between there and the flange nut so if it undoes it works against the spring. Mine all have the hole, I don't know if it's stock or a common mod....
  13. I believe it will fit.
  14. bambam is right, the shaft snapped and now the flywheel is missing. Replacement of the kickstart shaft requires splitting the cases, so it won't be cheap to fix. You might get lucky and find a crankshaft, on ebay or maybe Southwest Montesa. I'm pretty sure Steve Odell doesn't have an extra crank. I'm over in Vancouver, and am friends with Steve Coates, the Bultaco guy.

    240 Spokes?

Does anyone know where to buy spokes for (the rear) of a 240 pro? Which others fit? What are the sizes????
  16. 900 cc of 10/30 motor oil.
  17. It's a bit of a fiddle. The hooked end of the spring hooks onto the back side of the kick lever and then you push the straight end into the hole in the case as you place the lever on the splines. The orientation of the lever is important, if you lay it too far forward ie. where the straight part of the spring lines right up with the hole, you'll punch a hole through the case at the bottom of your stroke. Here's a photo of the correct orientation.
  18. Looks like a white one that's been painted red (just the gas tank) '80-'81
  19. go to "Photobucket" on the web, sign up for free, download your photo, then when you move the cursor over the photo, a dropdown menu with different code options comes up. Select the code by clicking on it to highlite it, the do a CTRL C to cut, and CTRL V to paste the code into this message.
  20. "T" is for "trail" 123s had "T" versions too, also the later 348Ts had 349 engines, but were still called 348s. There was no 349T per se. Yours is a 247T.
  21. Yes there are problems, but nothing insurmountable. The rear hoop needs to be bent up. That's the biggie.
  22. http://fortcollins.craigslist.org/mcy/1651517343.html someone in the US better scoop this...
  23. There are 2 washers under the clutch pack, 3863.151 and 3863.159 These numbers are from the Cota 200 book but should be the same. The 38 prefix relates to a Cappra 125 motocrosser. Maybe your source can make use of the part numbers.
