  1. Sorry Ian, not 100% off topic, I can just see some savings here
  2. John, thanks for the reply again and detail, cant reply much tonight, tomorrow maybe. Just a couple of points, reg card, never ever been asked for it, done lots of trials all over the counrty. Turn up at a Road race event, no licence no ride thats it, no arguments, no writing down the number because you ve forgot it. You do road racing you dont forget it ever or it will cost you dearly. If no-ones checking them or the numbers or the photo? whats the point, we could all not buy one and still ride, may not be popular for that comment but its true. Info in the Book, yes very well written and detailed but its already on the ACU site, every page, every detail, why waste the money posting it out and producing it for us. Road racing yes, a must due to all the bike info, classes etc etc. Just Admin : This post moved to This thread as not on topic can we keep this on topic please? Thanks
  3. Adsy, Agree with the big truck point, lots of potential problems there mainly down to costs as well. Far from cheap running a lorry and having a place to register to park it up legally when not in use, taxes, ministry stuff would cost a fortune. Also what happened if it broke down on the way, 20 bikes at Dover and 20 riders and Minders/Dads/Mums in France. Better to share the vans between riders if at all possible and help as you said get the entries/licences paid for. Not so sure about only the committed part though receiving any help, that would be pretty hard to sort out, I think anyone who wants to go to the trouble of riding abroad is showing quite a high level of commitment to start with. Imagine telling a parent or rider you can
  4. Nice idea and obviously working well for you at the club, from Johns first post about the ACU and how its run we must remember the ACU is actually all of us, they are simply a place where ideas are formulated by us and organised. It
  5. Phone calls, best way is to indulge them, take about 30-45 minutes with it, they have certain amounts of calls to keep to per hour, makes them miss their targets for the day.

Heath, bike looking good mate, nice repsol sticker on the rad cover, must have taken ages to do that, work time or home?
  7. Old Trials Fanatic, good reply thanks Things have changed loads mate, dont think anyone is asking for charity just abit of help to make things easier and keep up with the rest of the world. Ask most lads who there fav rider is most will say Dougie, for that reason alone its worth having him doing what he does best, rather that answer than Raga. I still look up to what he does and learn from such determination and self belief, good to have the kids being able to aspire to him. I had to work to buy my first bike, took me ages to save it up and yes you probably learnt something from doing it but but times have changed, a year in this game is a year behind everyone else. There are sponsors out there agreed but most put money in for the love of the sport rather than any return, bit of a loosing battle trying to get BP or others involved. We all live in a I want now society, right or wrong its how it is, and how its likely to stay so we have to make the most of it, telling little Jonny hes got to spend 20 hours a weeks earning his bike wont wash anymore in most cases. I know a good supplier for reinforcing rods for that shelter if you get short in the next few days Just
  8. Stick something heavy in the pre paid envelope and send it back, half a brick costs them loads to receive it back in unpaid postage, should soon kill off the junk mail, they are all pretty much linked anyway

  10. rockhopper, better not be Beta_rev3
  11. Old Trials Fanatic, Do you have kids? I have seen many parents give up so much for their kids in trials and most dont complain about it, the remark about Jenson Button is abit different mainly because the rewards that can be gained from top level car formulas is staggering, worth remortgaging the house for if the talent is there, not the same in trials. The Euro riders especially the Spanish are getting much more help than our youths and adults mainly down to sponsorship, this is throughout all bike sport, road racing etc. May not be from there governing body but big sponsors love bikes in spain. How can our youth compete with that without abit of extra help. I dont think anyone is asking for special help, just a bit of help and support to keep going, this may not be financial as you think. No1 has stated trials training for riders, and Timp has stated securing land non of which are direct finance. Who gives a **** if we have a world champ or not, mmmmmmm most of us I think, we are very proud of what Dougie has done and is still doing, plenty of kids and us look up to him and drive the sport forward. Your right to make your post though, every body needs a point of view to make things fair, hope many more will post here in th next few weeks You may need to get a bigger hat or shelter
  12. Timp, it may be worth having a separate fund as part of a scheme aimed at helping fund travel and entry for those youths who want to go to Europe. To make it fair this would have to be a flat rate every rider gets the same. Agree with you about the transporter, a no go idea, like you say where would all the stuff go and there

  14. Barry, I have made a sign today for the dishes pointing towards Ralph's corner, this is where most of the hopping takes place, nice grippy bank, me and Dad are mere aprentices to the master There was a good tale from the pub from what I have heard? maybe he will share it with us on here? hoping Dad will be fit for Thursdays ride and Ralph can skive off work early as well
  15. 3: Dads Old right wrist failed due to over use over the years. ermmmmm!!!!!! throttle I assume!!????
  16. I hope this is going to be a very long thread with loads of posts and discussion. Just reading Fellons post I do think trying to promote the sport is a non-starter with the view of getting loads of youth riders to take the sport up, great if we could but I just cant see it. If it isn
  17. PA, great point, also seems to make you forget just about everything you do in practice as well, it is a very strange and dark place between the start and end cards

  19. Pete, wash the filter with PJ1 air filter cleaner, rub it in well and hose it off well after 15 minutes. Let it dry overnight thoroughly and spray it with PJ1 filter spray, not too much though, stick it in a bag or if you have latex gloves better, work the filter spray in well. Been doing this for ages now and does a really good job, key to it seems to be not to much spray and work it in well. Would nt advise a dry filter though, dust can collect in the case and build up quickly

Have a good look at the wiring loom incase there is a major short somewhere, may only happen when the bike is being ridden over rocks etc and causing wires to touch. May not happen in the garden if theres nothing to ride over, check the earth as well and not loose or cruded up. Pretty sure Heath suggested on here running the bike in the dark so any shorts will show up easily even in really small places Swan Vesta's make better fire than Bryant and May, hope this advise isnt needed though mate, all fails take it to a dealer probably tell you straightaway

Your rubbing it in now Amazing really, theres more pics and info on here than on the Beta site and the Lampkin site put together? whats going on there then? well done lads for all the pics and info and highlandtrials
  22. So actually John there isnt much money to play with in the first place? not something i had realised in the past. Lets say I would like to see the ACU help out some of our top youth riders with funding or even our top up and coming adult riders, would i be correct in thinking the ACU just does nt have the funds available. Would there be a way of us being able to contribute to things like this happening in the future through our sport.
