Spud, great section for your dad to observe on, must have been very good viewing all day. Think he gave me a three for artistic impression on the first lap and sure I heard him chuckling to himself on my lap 2 attempt that had most in the queue wincing and making their minds up that taking a five may be the best option after all
-
I had Gassers for years then swapped to a rev 3, the 270 has loads of grunt and instant power if the flywheels off and a fast throttle put on. Feels a bit bigger than the gassers and heavier but you soon get used to it. No bike I have ever owned will get you up a big hill quite like 270 rev3, the power is endless

Great report Pete re results, surprised Sam and Jacks marks were taken on section 7 though, thought as you did it would be the section 12 pants soiling one.
Well done Ralph, tucked me up again by 7 marks although he thought he had nt untill today, will whoop him at the Northern Experts though good ride Ralph, and did nt ask for a five on section 1 and 12 on the last lap as many me included bottled
Nice to have seen the trial took 3 off Jack and Sam, now I could have been in with a chance if I could have held things together abit more on the next 35 sections after section one. Dropped a three there or possible five due to 43 dabs, 7 backwards movements and at least nine minutes to get out of the section. It was awfull not the way to start a trial at all and I am sure I heard a bit of Heckling from the queue, and a shout of what the hell is he doing riding the hard route?
Emailed Pete earlier and I won the most pathetic attempt of a section of the day award on section 4, a rocky type section where I managed to fall off quite badly attempting a six inch step. Had some good rides though and pleased with the score of 64 only 15 off Dean Basford who is always a rider to aim at around the area.
Will be doing the Stratford Clubs Ralph Varden Trial in December which Pete tells me has a couple of Geoff Capes sections in and one will need a catcher or two
ERRRRRRR had a slight problem reading the results Pete posted above and told Ralph at dinner time when he came over for his now daily cup of coffee that a Lady had rode the trial, not lady as in girl or woman but Lady as in Dutchess etc. Pete next time put female not Lady, I will be reminded of this one for bloody months now

Well done Nicky, not my fav rider and think it has been a case of Yamaha/rossi loosing the championship rather than Nicky winning it.
Think hes been on the developement 07 chasis all year and at the start of the season struggled abit with set up and Pedrosa whopping him, did nt really here any complaints about it from him so fair play for that. Sure his biggest problem this year was having Dani as a Team mate, could have easily screwed his head up and finished nowhere this year.
The lad stuck at it though all the way and deserves the title in the end, makes me wonder what Bayliss was doing in the years he was in MotoGp though after Sundays ride?
Cant see him retaining it next year though, Rossi will be coming out fighting and more determined than ever, could be a close one though with Dani,Nicky,Rossi,Casey,Loris and Toni slugging it out. Sete seems to have had his day but hopefully can screw up a few races for the big guns.
Really hope Vermin and Hopper can push as well next season if they are still signed up and well done to Kenny who had some good rides and results after a lack lustre few seasons just taking the pay cheques.
What the hell is Ellison doing in MotoGP???????????????????????????
-
Trophy hunting???? usually ride as Inter on the hard route, expert just does nt seem right most times
-
Over 40, cheeky sod! although you are right if Sam and Jack are down as experts stick me as an Inter then, dont want it to go to furthest cleans or anything
-
Justin, everytime I watched you in a section you were making it look easy.
Pete top trial mate, well done
-
I know Ralph, could nt shake them off for the first two laps, Sam and Jack to be fair probably thought why do those two bother went round with a Scottish Guy first lap good rider but did nt catch his name? hope to meet up again mate.
Yer 6 a*** twitchers out of the 12 sections, two of which were abit beyond me to be fair but great trial considering a limited area to work in.
-
Big thanks to Pete all observers and helpers today for a great Trial, and well done for having the courage to set it out harder than normal club events. Me and Ralph really enjoyed it although we did drop quite a few. Nice to see Sam Haslam and Jack Lee there, had abit of banter with them both and I am sure Sam copied a couple of my lines but not the big off I had on the very slippy cambered log on section 1.
Nice and long sections all of which where very open and could have been ridden pretty much without any trick riding. Section 12 was the hardest a nasty turned steep climb over a huge 45 degree root with a steep climb out, managed a three on the first lap, Geoff Capes on the second and bottled it on the third lap
Good entry as well must have been 50 plus and did nt notice much in the way of queing either.
Definatley be doing more Stratford Trials in the future if this is how they are set out and organised
-
Doogle, know how you feel mate, glad its sort of sorted now, yer we put up with problems? that we would nt with a car, probably because we are so keen to ride the things as much as possible. Hope you have a good day tomorrow
-
Work for myself making Bespoke Gates/Doors and garden furniture. Been doing it for years now and allows me to sneak off Thursday afternoons on the Trials bike with the lads.
Just me on my own now but thats how I like it, not much stress and worry and Ralph comes and has a coffee most days. Workshop is only half mile from home so nice and close as well, if anyone knows Oxford, driving anywhere is a nightmare
-
Nice one Pete, well done.
Ralphs just bought a new tyre for tomoz, should even things up abit

Another,
Used to have a RD 250 when I was 17, had a date with a landlords daughter on Friday night (Got to be the perfect girlfriend) got ready and went to fire the bike up. Bloody thing had a rear puncture and I was already running late and had no spare tubes. Found a bicycle tube repair kit and thought that would do the job ok, which it did for about 6 miles. Tube went bang at 85mph down a hill and threw the tyre off the rim immediately and I spent three days in hospital recovering from severe gravel rash! and concusion,
-
Just spent an hour or so prepping the bike for tomorrow, one of the jobs was to swap the wheels over from the weekend, did that, carb, throttle etc and just about to shut the door whilst admiring how good the old tyre looked and realising I had put it straight back on again
Reminded me of going to a trackday 3 years ago at Mallory Park and forgetting to the put the bike in the van!!!!! Changed the usual routine of loading the night before so just drove off in the morning with no bike
Also remember a few weeks ago doing the Hipwell trial with Ralph and waiting for it to start, I had never been up there before and Ralph kept trying to out psyche me by saying I should have turned my tyre as the streams would be really slippy. Kept on how he had done his the night before and it could cost me marks and grip during the day. He went to do the tyre pressures and realised he had actually taken the tyre off and then put it back the same way
Anyone got any stupid bike moments to share with us ???? I
-
Barry, surely your going to come anyway mate, say hello etc and eat some burgers at the van, be good to see all the bikes and that.
-
Think I know that one Pete, great, thats the climb the Goat ran Danby over a couple of years ago on, followed him up and Ross fell off whilst Ryan was 6 foot behind him on full chat! ,yer is me in the pic, amazing what these photo editing programmes can do these days
-
Hi Stu, sorry about the hand mate, how did you manage that then? must have been a biggish off. Hope it heals up soon as possible.
Pete dont make that hill climb too big mate, I f*****ng S**t me self above ten feet high, nose bleeds and all sorts. Barry see you at the BVM test day,
