  1. Ralph bought one of these carbs last week for a try, I very nearly bought one in the summer due to running problems but hesitated as I did'nt fancy weeks of setting it up. Carb on the bike today and wished I had bought one ages ago, I had a feeling the bike would run slightly better but the difference is incredible, had a go on it and really did nt want to give it back. The engine note has changed, the throttle is light, its picks up really easily and revs clean all the way through. The bottom end grunt has increased dramatically and I never noticed any pinking, fluffing or trail of petrol all day. The bike was nt running to bad before but it has transformed into without doubt the nicest bike I have ever ridden and I ve rode a few. It seemed to be gripping much better as well and the pick up from nothing is instant and very clean, easiest bike to ride ever. Definately going to be getting the Dellorto in the new year if funds allow, well worth the money we all thought . 110 main and 37 pilot which I think are supplied as standard and thats what Ralph had in today, couple of turns on the petrol screw got it running crisp and clean. Fitting the carb to the original air box inlet is a little tight but hopefully a slightly larger one can be bought soon to make the refitting easier. No problem with the reed end fitting and the Beta throttle cable fits straight in. Lampkins can supply the carbs from Italy if anyone wanted to try one for there rev3, you wont be dissapointed
  2. Neon, whip the swing arm out mate, it will save hours of pain and torment and could well put you off trials forever. It was assembled before the swing arm went in and even the best BFH wont get it out in one piece, if your at it after 4 hours they may have to section you, you'll be a dribbling wreck
  3. Same here James, far easier to take the swing arm out to do it, easy on the beta
  4. Doesn't that take bloody ages though? scratches the metal and plastic even if your carefull, stuff I used today made the job real easy
  5. Not for long Jon? have a good day at the S Experts mate, ralphs got the Dellorto on tomoz
  6. I've run my bikes on the reserve setting only for years, fived a section once when it ran out on the main on tap and never used it since. Take the hose off and see what the flow rate is on the on setting and reserve setting, maybe **** in the tap or tank or the tap is incorrectly aligned when vertical
  7. Decals getting a little tatty on the bike after 8 months of abuse so I am getting a new set in the new year. Was'nt looking forward to getting all the old ones off as they are stuck like **** to a blanket but came across ABRO paint remover in a spray can. Simply spray abit on the decal, leave it for 5-10 mins and even the most stuburn sticker/decal will just wipe off, amazing stuff. Does nt seem to have effected the metal or plastic underneath although I have cleaned the areas after quite well incase, saved loads of time. Make sure its used outside though as the fumes are bad and if you squirt it in your eyes by mistake its gonna smart abit.
  8. Neon, Kinells right Lampkins do have the tool you need for the job (BFH) its not that expensive for such a precision instrument but it will get the pedal out easy. Or you could take the swing arm out
  9. Billy, should have done it years ago mate Its mine!
  10. If the bikes back together Ralph????? it better be mate
  11. Ralph, info from Carl re the vhst mate
  12. Lads, Me and Ralph have just been looking at the Dellorto in the workshop, quite a work of art compared to the Mikuni. 110 main and 37 pilot and the float bowl looks much larger than the Mukuni even with the extension. Ralph will be test running it Saturday afternoon and a full day up the dishes Sunday, sure he will give his verdict sunday evening. Apparently it gives much better and stronger bottom end power than the Mukuni and does'nt leak If its ***** see Mondays TC ads page
  13. Endo, Beta still have 116,455 of the bloody things still on the stock shelves from the 2001 Ebay job lot auction they won, got to get rid of them somehow. Ralphs picking up the Dellorto flat side today and trying it out sunday, will post with the results on the 270
  14. Barry. I,m going to the fixings shop this week they will have high tensile ones and I'll get you some. Dont be tempetd to stick stainless in there though(very soft) Dont think I've got any spares in the workshop but I will post them next week if ok
  15. AJ, good point, dont think Eddie does any big lap trials or it would be a problem for him. Mine was running dry very quickly in Wales and not making it back, got the mod done and must have given me another 20-30 minutes of running time. Bike was also a bitch to start sometimes with the fuel leaking that bad, glad its sorted now though well worth the effort. Good luck with the SSDT, that carb mod will save miles of pushing
  16. Holy S**t, did a lot worse than I thought then, thought Hick would have dropped more than that considering the conditions. Best Inter? was I the only one think I must of been will definatley practice more for next years event, must be one of the biggest scores I have ever had in a trial, thanks for not posting my score Pete although it was in 3 figures
  17. I,ve heard terrible part ex prices and sale prices for 06 Beta's in the last few weeks, so bad it just isnt worth selling them unless you want to give it away. If you've got any extras on the bike like the bars, pegs etc swap them back for the standard ones and flog the good bits on TC or Ebay. You should get more out of the deal overall as its unlikely the dealer will give you anymore for the pegs etc anyway. The Mont seems to be holding it price well whilst the Beta is diving, bad time to swap it mate, I did here recently an offer of
  18. The road racing thing did help with getting rid of nicked bikes from the paddocks in a way, from what I heard was you got a legit number from a mates bike, restamped the nicked one and all of a sudden the nicked bike becomes legal. Parts are the most profitable way to get rid of a bike, virtually no trace and in many cases more money in it. Cant see anyone stopping bikes going at all and very rare they are ever seen again, busted up or rung. I have always registered my bikes, keep it locked up well and have it insured as much as possible. Some toe rag pinches it one night it will be a hassle but hopefully the insurance will sort it out. If I ever bought a second hand bike in the future it would have to be registered by the seller so its history could be traced, buy a non registered one you may be taking a chance. Best way I have ever seen to prevent nicked bikes turning up in Bike sport is having plod turn up unannounced and start checking numbers at random, they're very good at spotting a ringer.
  19. Brian, if it became common knowledge that bikes were going to be checked at a trial against a list of nicked ones, surely restamping a couple of numbers on the frame or engine would mess things up abit. Only way I can see it working is if all bike numbers are known not just the nicked ones so the proper id of the bike can be found or else a single number change would not spot a ringer. That would be impossible to do unless you had on site access to the PNC and that will never happen. Plus most clubs and riders don’t have enough time to have the bikes checked before a trial, great if you can do something but lots of problems to get it working. I dont have any figures but keeping the list updated and out to all the clubs would be a massive task, the list could be 500 plus bikes/numbers to check minimum. Some of our trials here run to 180 plus riders, imagine how long that would take to go through before a trial. Personally I would nt recognize a restamped bike, sure most trials organizers would nt either so a quick restamp on the frame would mess the plan up straightaway.
  20. AJ, not got an 07 (06) so cant say much more, look great bikes though hope you enjoy it. Well worth buying and getting the dealer to fit the float extension bowl as well, should cure pinking on climbs and if its running boggy/rich there is a carb jet kit which can if needed transform a bike overnight (in my case)

    Kll Switch 07 270

Bin the kill switch mate, no amount of sealing and cleaning will make it work better, been there and got the T shirt. The carb mod needs new float settings, drilling of carb body and praying to stop it leaking, the dealer will know how to do it easily. It will still leak abit but not pour, fit a 6-8 inch pipe on the overflow at the bottom of the carb and direct it under the swingarm or better still loop it up above the floats and back down. Dont leave the bike pointing downhill at any stage even slightly whilst stopped or it will mean 20 kicks to get it going and never leave the fuel tap on overnight. Keep a good eye on the rear disc bolts, they come loose easy and can do some serious damage if one comes out.
  22. See new post on here, does nt look like it? If your picking it up Friday, ring them tomorrow and get them to do the carb mod before you pick it up, will save endless use of swear words and loss of hair in sections.

ohno, all Beta's pretty much overflow fuel. The answer is get the dealer to do the mod to it and it will be better, not perfect but better. Buy an after market kill switch the beta ones are *****, play up at the first signs of dirt. Good luck with the bike, watch out for lots of bolts coming loose though
