Best site I have ever visited and very addictive, great source of info and have met loads of top people on here as well.
Keep it up Andy

Is the bike on its standard carb settings? 150 main, 30 pilot and the needle set at the middle clip. If so lean try leaning the jet by dropping the needle to the next notch, virtually all Betas need this doing straightaway from what I have seen. You could as many do use the carn jet kit as Carl said 27.5 pilot and 145 main, works great on mine.
Are the Reeds in good condition and closing properly
Are you over oiling the Air Filter
What colour and condition is the plug
Make sure the air box and boot does nt have a split or hole in it somewhere
Seal the exhaust and repack if needed as said above

Yer, nice one Brian, just downloading the lot now 32 mins to go! well worth it though. The practice vid is amazing
-
I,m thinking of giving the Boyesens a go as well, supposed to be good and I am sure you should nt need to re jet but worth keeping an eye on the plug for the first outing. Let us know what they are like when you ve stuck them on.

Picture shows Rev3 06 - 270 Stator position and Timing gap on both mine and Ralphs bikes. This is the factory setting and have not changed from it standard
-
Come on then lads, how was the day?
-
Swapped the Stator on my bike today withs Ralphs and checked the timing on both bikes. The setting was more like gregkabobs pic 7.5mm gap same on mine and Ralphs, I will take a pic tomorrow and measure the exact distance for reference, both bikes are Rev3 270's 2006 models.
Quite a lot of dust within the casings of both bikes but stators and flywheels looked clean enough, quick spray of brake/WD40 everywhere and blew out the **** with an air line.
Also whilst the electrics were out got rid of the wiring loom (lights/switch gear) and re wired the kill button to make cleaning everything under the cover easier.
The control box is a bit tight to get out and back in but if anyones struggling one day move the clutch/throttle cable to the far left of the opening and pull the box forward then get it as far to the right and up. Fits to the mm but comes out reasonably easy like that, no other way looks possible, same procedure for getting back in.
I had originally fitted the earth for the kill switch to the coil but now have it on the top radiator mounting and the live to the CDI, fits in better that way.

Swapping the stator with Ralphs tomorrow morning, hope it sorts it out. Have heard Lampkins will exchange them, good on them, thanks for the replies.

Float bowl extension and shroud cures bad pinking up hills and the reset float tang heights stops the fuel p***ing out as well as the drilling mod. No difference in power or performance though, the 145 main jet leans the mix from Betas usually too rich starting point, best jet to change is the 30 standard pilot to the 27.5 which stops any bogging or need to clear the throttle regulary. Keep a good eye on the plug though if using smaller jets incase the bike is running lean/weak

Has anyone had stator problems on their 06 rev3 or heard of any failing, think mines about to go pop?

Been meaning to take some pictures of the Mikuni carb mods as there is always questions about it one here, hope they will help someday
The pictures are of my carb with mods carried out by BVM earlier this year. The first two pictures show the float extension bowl for the rev3 along with the main jet shroud the kit comes with. The Extension kit has stopped my bike pinking on climbs, something it suffered badly from before fitted.
The 3rd picture shows the exhaust side Atmosphere pipe bent towards the barrel slightly which allows the pipe to run free and not touch the exhaust. From new the pipe was always bent shut due to it being to close to the Exhaust, it was bent using a BFH tapping lightly at a time so not to break it.
4th picture shows the tang levels which have stopped the fuel from spilling out of the carb, looks about the same height as Billy T's picture on the R2W site.
5th and 6th pictures show the drilling mod from both angles, this is explained on the R2W site as well.

Hey!! Merry Christmas everyone!! Is anyone coming to the trial? Should be a good one!
Errr thats better

Could it possibly be Trial cota

Ah! yer! mmmmmmmmm! not a good first outing for the dellorto for me, last Thursday ice on the ground and thick fog, not good carb weather. Bike started first kick, same as Mikuni but was very weak on pilot, brilliant on the main but needed adjusting to be ridable low down.
Now the thing took ages to put on so I did nt have the balls to whip it off and change the jet so stuck the Mikuni back on for the day.
Weather is still bad but will try it again if things pick up next weekend, ran really good day before around the garden but not Thursday. Too be fair though Dads bike (Mont) ran terrible as well and needed a jet change to get it going on pilot.
Must find a better hose, not sure I can go through taking the bugger off at the quarry and hoping to get it back on quickly though.
The difference on main jet is incredible, just wished the pilot ran better, dont think it was **** in it as I cleaned everything the day before/filters/tubes/jets/air box etc etc
Will stick at it though, worth getting the set up right
-
Stu, you pretty much know when the bikes due for a fill, but not when its about to knock from main to reserve. Quick shake of the tank is best if you think you are near empty, there is nothing more annoying than getting a five when it decides it needs reserve on, will always happen at the easiest section of the trial as well

Heard about bikes swallowing water and blowing gaskets when they are started again, gets in the head and compresses, just asked incase you had drowned it somewhere and restarted.
-
Its an extension for the float bowl, looks like a big red nut on the bottom of the carb, also comes with a main jet shroud. Think they are about
