What I can see of that does look pretty darned good. It has some unique features it seems! 4T motor may be tight in there, but??????

I know where you are coming from, yet there are lots of very competitive bikes out there(from this decade) at reasonable prices. And I really cannot think of too many things that I could not pick up the phone and have delivered to me within 24-48 hours, many parts are interchangeable with other bikes even. Motocross, Enduro and CrossCountry are all HIGH IMPACT, sports! If you take a good spill, chances are it may well take more to fix you than the bike! I have a good friend at work that has two kids now into Karting. We work on them, one a 50cc, another a 100. Talk about too many rules and regulations, expensive overpriced crap to compete on a high level! All these computerized thingies and such. Oh and then the protests on motors, and teardowns and such, the overzealous dads with too much money, list goes on--insane! They try to make a kids cart a NASCAR piece almost, just not for me!

At least Tony had a chance to get time in one of the heavy bombers! I would think that unimaginable myself, although there have been some recent tours around here that allow folks to take a ride in a B17 or a B24!!!! I can never afford those tour rides. Although I have been through them. I have spent a bit of quality time in the Beech D-18 twin cockpit!. Might call it the closest thing to a "personal bomber" , sweet plane, and although those round motors can sound like ****, there is nothing like them! Smooth as a baby's butt! And that little thing can tote anything one can throw in it if needed. I just have never liked VTO stuff, scarey! Yes I have flown helos, and a nice turbine powered ride is not bad in a pinch, yet ? How any of that stuff stays in the air like Harrier or Osprey, just boggles the mind! Hope you don't take a hit!

As this comes up, seems to me one was lucky to have a tank with a motor at the time, as both were in short supply! The bit I pulled up on that Chrysler motor seemed quite innovative to produce on short notice! Quite a piece of work! Although I may have settled for a round air cooled aircraft motor myself. The list of variences I seen was long, yet did not really say how many of each, you got what you got! Yet some 48-50 thousand of them seemed to last quite a while! Same with the Russians T-34 I think it was! Used for decades!

These boys do know their stuff on the aircraft of the day! Good to see Bill's report on the TTC site! And again, thankfully no head, neck, spine injury for Will! Only thing worse than a big spill is having your bike come back on you to get revenge! Doubt you will have that problem with this stuff. Seems to stay good for about two years or more. Costs me right at $2.00 per foot with the tax, enough to do 2 Shercos as I recall. Then add the package and the post to UK. Then paypal fees! So at the current exchange rates, I think 5 british pounds will get you about 1/2 meter, or 2 1/2 feet, enough for 3 or 4 bikes worth.

Well, yes! The Tygon F-4040 is a premium fuel hose. You can look it up. It is great stuff and lasts a long time while staying flexable, yet it will not tolerate direct contact with the exhaust muff on a Sherco, so proper routing is key. If you cannot find it, I can post you a sample for a fiver! no profit here. Popular in the lawnmower shops as well, so ck them!

Getting back to real aircraft with pistons! I always thought the wooden wonders were a sweet piece of work! Although I still have my favs in the fighters. The advancements in aircraft technology during those years was awesome, add the fact you had real and neccessary production going on as a constant. To make those changes and advances , all by sliderule and testing, in such a short period of time is still remarkable. The skill of the tradesmen was paramount. Even one change, can summount into lots of parts changes and production difficulties. The rate at which this occured is unmatched, and all without computer.

All I can say is that of last count, RYP on this side of the pond had never sold any gears, yet in a situation like this where things come to a screeching halt suddenly under load, it is certainly possible the cogs could suffer damage. All this presuming you have isolated the gear. Even a tweak or bend in the gear could do it. This should be able to be confirmed by removal of the clutch basket and feeling the rotation if the input shaft vs the output shaft in that gear selected. Any binding or roughness should be evident, requireing teardown. Hope that helps,

2k8, This is what happens when you kids fiddle! And do not take notes! A learning experience! Bad thing is, not being able to hear it run, separating out a fuel or ignition problem is just madness! But now you have most all the highpoints, just try not to overlook anything.

Electronically-Challenged Seniors Things are spiraling out of control. I think I have become lost in a world of electronic madness. One of my sons informed me this week that my cell phone has become obsolete and I must head down to the cell phone store and get a phone that is contemporary with the time. I pointed out that the fancy razor/slimline phone with camera built in that he made me trade my perfectly good flip-top Motorola cell phone for two years ago still works perfectly fine. Well, except for the camera thing. Never could figure that out. Even the few times I actually did take pictures I couldn't figure what to do with them and gave up. That is except when I would push the wrong button and take a video of the ceiling or my feet. Seems the issue is that I am unable to text with the tiny little 3 character buttons. "Hi, son," would come out looking like, "Gh Qmo." My grandkids have even spoken to my wife about Poppa
