Sounds as though you are looking in the correct area and have a good idea how to do it. The skill cheat is to use a 3/8 drive air impact wrench to remove the clutch hub nut without requireing a special holding fixture. Be sure to mark the nut and shaft so that you may reinstall to same torque position or ever so slightly more. I believe the torque spec is 45ft/lb or 60nm but that is impossible to do with a torque wrench and no holder. Do not jam anything in between the gears to try to hold it! Hope that helps! ps- by "impact" I mean the gun type that turn very fast, not an air ratchet which turns slow. You have to zip it off and back on to keep other things from turning!

I guess Craig is slumming so I wanted to be the the first to report that Sherco mounted TEXAS rider Josiah Mizell took the Overall Championship at the TTC Youth National with a 1,1,4 in the daily finishes! I was told it was a tough and close event with Josiah , Ronnie Commo and Alex Bedley battleing it out! Sorry but that is all the info I have at this time. These kids are GREAT! Congrats to all!

i believe I understand what you are referring to. Not sure exactly how much more prone the '06 is than prior years, but you are correct in that there is a certain amount of slippage there which is normal. The same thing will occur when you rev the crap out of it and dump the clutch for a big third gear splatter! So the pros use a modified clutch basket that has been some holes drilled so that the oil has a place to go more quickly. and possibly heavier or shimmed springs, as they want to go"right NOW". As the Sherco clutch is overall considered one of the best around, many of these mods may not suit riders in other situations. I will admit that I have been experimenting a bit with the use of Mobil1 synthetic ATF in the box which seems to quicken the "bite" a bit, yet still provides a good feel for the sweet spot when you need to slip it to find grip. A custom blend of the MTF and ATF type oils could be done as well, to suit! Hope that helps. MC

If you think that first is too high, most folks just put the 9 tooth front gear off the 125/200.

Al, Why would I want to? If it's the one I think you are referring to above the chain tensioner on the top of swingarm, it does not come countersunk and chain never hits it if adjusted properly. I recently replaced one on the "02 1.25 because it was corroded. Cost about 30 cents!

I set simple 3 line trial for the club in Jan. of this year using the ABC lines. Riders were allowed to "ride up" a line or split for negative points as long as they did not take a dab any time after attempting that area. If they dabbed they lost the negative points and their normal score accumulated. A sort of gate trial for the more ambitious riders, with no "busts". rookie novice= C amature intermediate=B expert master=A Only one of the slightly dislexic expert riders got confused when confronted with two close trees with an AB on the left tree and an A on the right tree, both pointing toward the right. Of course he took the B line between them for a 5 and filed a complaint! My response, "If you have TWO arrows telling you to go RIGHT, which way should you go? It worked ot well overall, the best score of the day was from a novice rider! MC

Yep, Dow Corning, popular with the aircraft bunch, 3M makes a similar product as a lubricant but it seems a bit thinner viscosity, still works. The DC-4 comes in tubes, the 3Min a can w/brush. As far as getting them to bead up, that Yomee ring is nice! A little soapy water and LOTS of air! Let er'rip! I remember one Brad had at the Sherco trailer a couple of years ago that would not seat at the 100psi indicated on their portable compressor. We tried EVERYTHING! Then took it up to the lodge and put about 120 on it! It went! SCAREY! But we used a remote hook-up sort of like I have at work, with an extension hose and regulated valve so you do not have to get NEAR it! Sounded like a gun went off when it went! I would never do 100 on a used tire though! You have to be very careful! They can hurt you BAD! I like the regulated extension hose with a clip-on chuck, I'm chicken!

Just to add: Ck Coolant, it should be just above the radiator cores, no more as it needs expansion room. If you have not lost any, that is good!
