That is a good site.
They are looking very professional!

Ideal compression on a two stroke is 155 psi. If it is over 120 it should run ok.
You said the head was warped. Was it blowing out between the head and cylinder?
It would have to be pretty bad to need machining. Usually a piece of 220 and a flat surface will put it straight in a jiffy.
If you have the head off, go ahead and remove the cylinder and inspect the piston and rings.
I would want to find the reason for overheating. The head is only a symptom of whatever the problem is. Like ignition timing off. to lean. Exhaust plugged. Crank seals leaking. Will the flywheel move up and down?

I have been in a motorcycle repair shop since 76. I now own a small to medium Yamaha, Polaris Dealership. We are strong on service. I have taken many classes on handling difficulties and how to turn them into a win win. Not every shop is that way. However most try to take care of the customer. I personally love a challenge. Other dealerships in the area have sent their problems to us. Send me you tired, your poor, your IRATE!

Rick1,
I'm going to assume the "white sealer" was Kreme. My question is did the acetone soften it up, or dissolve or what? I have a TY tank that looks horrible but all the metal looks good! The Kreme inside looks like the Alps! What method did you use that seemed to work the best?
Thanks

That sounds really cool! I could just see my 10 yr old burying his new beta 80, He would probably stroke out!

B= 14 x1.25 mm thread
P= Projected tip
R= Resistor Better stick with that for the new digital style ignitions
5= heat range Champions numbers are backwards to NGK's
E= 3/4" thread reach
S= standard tip
The standard NGK has always had a copper core. It dissapates heat faster and gives the plug a broader heat range. With some brands as soon as you get out of the operating range of the plug they foul or cause diasaster. Which is why I like NGK's. They seem to be more tolerant and forgiving.

When you are trying to rectify this situation, try to stay on the facts. Don't get angry or show any emotion, if the discussion gets ugly all defences come out and negoaitions stop. Ask questions, and let them answer. Ask what they would do if they personally were in the same situation. State what you would want them to do to make you happy and keep you as a customer. It may be less than they think you want and when presented with facts a reputable firm should do whats fair and reasonable for the customer.

It sounds like an empty room in here!
I hope some of you are gifted enough to be interesting without being censorable due to unstroked ego.

Ebay is a tool. If there is some wierd part you need, more than likely there are a few for sale on ebay. If you have something wierd to sell you couldn't get squat for it locally. But on Ebay it may be worth alot to someone who wants that exact thing. As an example I was cleaning out some old parts and found about 25 Yamaha JT1 lower throttle cables. Yea the short one. List price form yamaha for the unavailble piece was $4.99. I sold all and not the first one sold for under $19.00. They went all over the world. Junk to me, and no one local wanted them.
But there are a lot of people who don't have any idea what "Showroom" condition means. A look at feedback and an email or two. Then a phone call if it is a big item, should give you an idea of what kind of seller they are.
Buyer be Educated.

The shaft being pitted, will not cause no dampening until all the oil leaks out. So after a rebuild even with the shaft pitted it would have dampening until all the oil leaked out.
I would want to know the reason there was no dampening. Was a piston ring out of place? A valve stack with debris in it? No gas in the resevoir? Did they replace the shaft? If so what does the old one look like? It is possible to have missed the pitting if it is small, but if it is that small it would take a long time to affect dampening. If you look at the shaft and the pitting is obvious then I think they owe you postage. And you should have to replace (Pay for) the shaft because you would have needed that anyway.

A trials bike in my mind is a Bultaco, preferably blue, or a Montesa cota red(Duh).
Sexiest bike of all time?? Hands down the Britten!! Wow in person it just begs to be looked at, inspires deep emotion. It is such a work of art, form and function. Easily the best of all time. I can't find a good picture to post. But I have a poster of it I bought at the Guggenheim.

The DT ports are larger and timed differently. It is designed for a higher in the rpm peak torque.

It sounds as though the ignition may be weak. Probably the stator, magneto, charging and source coils under the flywheel. They are the most common to go out. Also be sure you are using a resistor spark plug. The digital ignition does not like a lot of RFI.

Zippy,
The coverage on TC of the endurocross was far superior! With links to good footage you could tell what was going on. The Speed coverage was very vague. There was no excitement, it was as though the announcers were disconnected from the action or sent to suppress it. In one clip you could hear the crowd erupting for Nick, and they talked over it. They might as well had Katie Couric do it.

Barry,
I tried to reserve a campsite at Hard Rock this morning. They asked me if I knew how to get in touch with you. I told them I would try to email or post. They are hosting the AHRMA races on the 3rd and 4th. Anyway they really wanted to talk to you.
Thanks

Ya know... the water truck worked out real well. It was better than Dan dragging the sprinkler around. I'm just glad they didn't use my rhino for that. I think I was taking the Journalist pool for a ride around.

Maybe he's leftover sloppy seconds? Were they (Frexia and Scorpa) just stuck with each other when the music stopped? It would be good to see another brand in the mix!

I met Elmer at a 24 hour race in Alabama this summer. He beat the perennial Ironman class favourite Mike Phillips by about 8 laps. He rode nearly as many laps as our six man team. After the race he still looked ready to ride. Rest in Peace Elmer.

Start the engine and let it warm up, holding the clutch lever in continously. After the bike is warmed up, go to an area that you can ride it. Still holding the clutch in get it rolling and put it in gear and work your way up through the gears. Using full throttle, get the engine to where it is pulling strong and apply the rear brake. Alternate revving out and firm application of the rear brake to load the clutch. This works best in the upper gears.
Watch out for stationary objects.
