Ya know, I haven't been on the board long enough to know who everyone is. And if I did know their real name it probably would register "o". So I don't always know who's posts lane is talking about. And if he misspells or calls someone by a diferent name........reckon he might be doin it to "Poke" at them? Bush sen used to do that with saad-daam whosane. Which when pronounced that way was an insult.
And if not he has a bad memory and forgot how to spell. Which I believe he said he could'nt do anyway.
Any vessel at 50% capacity should be imagined as beer. Always a blessing if you didn't have to get up and get it!
-
We could not have "Road Loops" since we cannot license the bikes for highway use here in the states. At least not legally. So far from where I live my average travel time would be two and a half hours.
-
That guy on the bike looked suprised it went so fast.
Seems like a lot of heat between your legs. Don't you know that stainless would peel some skin!
-
Alan, I had to reread all the posts about three times to find Lanes offensive remark. c'mon that wasn't that bad. Surely he has said something truly offensive.
Are you getting soft? Or maybe a little jumpy..I know its been a while since you've seen "sugar daddy".
I saw a picture somewhere on here.........
-
That is a clear and lucid statement.
But he was lucky,
He was prepared,
and he capatilized on an oppourtunity.
I don't think he was just lucky. I WOULD like to see him on a slightly different bike. In the main when he was going against the real tallent, I thought he looked smooth but needed to be able to corner faster (maybe a seat?) Accellerate a little faster( scorpa 2stroke with YZ250 power valve combo motor) . Wouldn't it be cool to build him a bike to try it on next year?! One that he would still be comfortable on but with some features to give him a little edge.
And Lane does argue both sides in the same post sometimes!
Sounds sane to me.
Has his ranting changed anything?
I don't see how you've kept it under 100 posts!

From what I can see in the photo it is sculpted beautifully. It has elegant flowing lines.
-
LUCK?? Luck is where Opportunity and preparation meet. Ask any racer...I'd rather be lucky than good would be a common answer. Was he lucky...YES! But in order to win you still have to show up and be racing behind the person that falls. Nick also fell right after he passed the fallen leader, but managed to get up quicker. Then put distance on them. With lanes Alpina dream bike he would have kicked some ass.
-
I make sure I never give feedback until I get positive feedback. If there is a problem the first thing I ask them to do is give glowing feedback, then I will address the issue. I have been taken a few times but go out of my way to retain 100% feedback.

I knew there was to much raw emotion between those two. They can't help themselves!
-
Very Stylish! I like the JT sticker on the tank.
-
If he was into the carb, it would have been easy for him to overtighten a jet and crack it. Or leave a sealing washer out, screw with float level etc.
Also did he change or replace the spark plug? If he just cleaned it, it may just be fouled. If he replaced it with a non resistor plug, that could make it misfire.
The garage is relying on information from this person to make a repair judgement over the phone????
I would not give money to this person for a repair.
I would ask if I could check it over to determine if there was a problem.
If I saw he caused the problem, I would offer to repair at his expense for parts and show him how to avoid it next time.
But I would not rely on a disinterested third party for "hand me down" bad advice.

Bilco, sorry it took so long here is a picture of my 1973 RD60.

Trials doesn't have to change at all. The idea is to plan so that spectators can watch without much difficulty.
If the promotor could spark enough interest he may be able to make a few dollars on spectating, more people may become interested so a few more bikes will be sold and they may bring more spectators.
Do I need to get out the crayons??
-
If you don't get it you need to go do it once. I worked for a man who raced Late Model dirt track oval cars. I thought "How BORING" round and round she goes........... BUT!!! man was that exciting being in on the action! Setting the car up differently for different tracks. Changing it through the night to keep it handling. Very cool.
I too have watched the rock crawling and thought the same as you. But if I went and did it I may reconsider.
I thought the same about trials a few years ago!
I had several friends go to watch the world round in TN. They are not trials riders and some only casually trail ride. All were AMAZED and talk about it every time I see them. There's something about standing across from some unbelieveable hillclimb that a camera just doesn't capture.
I agree making it a more spectator friendly sport would help popularity.
There could be a spectator loop and a rider loop. A setup like All is talking about with a path to the outer sections. I realize all area's are different, However more focus on this aspect could make a positive difference.

Lane, I appreciate you instructing at the youth nationals. I was unable to be there the first two days so my stepson(26) filled in as watchdog for our 10 year old. He said he learned more in 30 minutes with you than a day with another coach. Guess he likes tough love! I liked the way you made us try harder than we were used to. Now every time I am in a section I am always thinking "Use it ALL, all the way to the ribbon".If I am paying for instruction I'd be happy to spend my money with you! Besides I don't have standards to get in the way.
-
Lane, You're right! When I went to TTC summer youth camp I did get screwed! The best trainer I got was a crusty old has been......what was his name....oh yeah Lane Livvet or something like that.
Well since I woke up tired that morning I decided not to fly to the left coast to ride on a bunch of dusty rocks. It's Ok for old people, for safety's sake. I would like to see alex ride again, but wait I already watched him ride in the best trials arena in the states once this year. But I did have fun this weekend riding the WTC sections. Did you get to ride any lane? I didn't think so, But when you drag your ass back here for a dull summer camp maybe you could teach me a new trick or two. Again.
And if you were Brown Nosing, you're not very good at it!
And not teethy enough to rip a new ********.
Maybe next time.
Next year we'll buy the boy's more bottle rockets! The armegeddon pack!

:agree: Mostly.
After youth nationals there is a camp for up and comers. Maybe more effort is needed to increase the value to the participants.
I also agree that the average club rider doesn't care who is national or world spud. This weekend was another perfect example of an excellent club event by stra at the TTC. Which is why most of us ride. Get together with some fellow riders and try to outdo them and ourselves. Anyone with championship hopes can also ride to keep in tune. More local events like this should do the trick.
-
I didn't think they were cheating.....just being rude! Aren't all europeaeeans rude? I saw a wtc jr rider at the us round arguing about not going backwards (he did). But the gal from michigan would have none of it. They were yelling the whole time. I believe one more word and she would have kicked his assets. In one of the videos Lia is arguing with an observer, it didn't go her way and she sprayed him with dirt as she left. Maybe its just the weak willed european checkers and officials! Bunch of babies, show some spine!
Lets give thanks for local club trials!
I partially agree with alan, but we are going to have to get a lot better before cheating will do us any good.
Maybe if our riders could become Jedi knights they could use mind control on the checkers!
-
Yes! Well done!
It shows detail of several techniques not coverd in the first one.
More stuff I can't do!
-
Hen's, Lay down for a count!!!! I'm chokin on my oatmeal!!!
I think if you just go to a national and ride you could make a more informed decision. Go have fun! If you could find someone with a 125 to borrow for a day or so you can see if your son would like it. I agree with Plunker's observations. Since you don't have a 125 now, I would make sure nationals were something I wanted to do before I invested in new hardware.
I would agree with more 125 class divisions. However since that is not what has been done I say go with what is availible. You can always ride a 125 in one of the other classes. Everyone seems to be against theexpense of more trophys. They could always limit the ones they give out it the age group classes. Maybe give a medal or something. After a while you get a huge pile of non descript trophys. They can keep mine and spend more on the youth stuff.
I'm riding one and until I get alot betterI don't see that it has limited it at all. I am not afraid to hold it wide open and drop the clutch to hit something. I think I would be more timid on a bigger bike. It really shows me when I am doing it wrong. It has tought me slipping the clutch with power on. It is a hoot to ride! I also ride for fun! So I know where you are coming from. Keep it fun, find out if you like it and if your son likes it.
Lane, I definately think older riders could teach the younger riders alot. However it would just end up being like the 125 mx nationals with some professional beginners. That would not give our youth the taste of victory. Every now and then you have to let them taste the carrot! They might seem overwhelmed when some 50 year old shows them up. What would be their thougt? I can't wait till I'm 50 so I can ride like that? Have an adult 125 class as well. If needed I'll donate trophies for the whole season for that class( donuts).
-
Yes, I do ride on the street and everywhere else. I am a Yamaha dealer. I have 4 Dt50's. They are a hoot to ride. Kinda like riding a mountain bike, you have to use a lot of momentum and be very smooth. I also have an old RD60. More bikes than time
-
I think the age guidelines are good. That keeps those unable to make the transition from holding back or discouraging the rest of the group. Kind of like in the LITES class of SX or MX. The older riders will draw away sponsorship from the up and comers. Which puts the younger riders at a disadvantage to the older sandbagger wannabes. The class should ONLY be for younger riders. I would have disagreed with starting at 10. But after watching the youth nationals........I think thats a good idea!
-
Ron,
I can't wait to watch them at the nationals. Ronnie looks so much calmer this year, the little I have watched him. I think we will all be surprised by the size of the class.
-
We can't get crap for small bikes in the states. It's OK for a jet to burn 10,000 pounds of fuel on take off but a two stroke DT50???? Thats irresponsible!!!!
-
Wow Great video's!
Thanks
