Hi - if you search the forums will be in more detail but basically I think its an emission thing or environment thing. If you dump the tank you can blanks off the hole in the air box which stops any excess oil gathering in ther.
Also the fan relay mounted below the Throttle Body can now be placed up out of harms way behind the head stock where the little tank came from.
I then put a small in line fuel filter on the end of the pipe from the engine to the now removed tank and again tuck up in the head stock. The tank and pipe to airbox can now be stored away until you sell the bike and present the new owner with a box of bits he is never going to use again either ?
Worth getting one of the little button fuel cap breathers and dumping all the vents and pipes that come as standard - get the flush fit ones.
Honda genuine bits can be good value so don't be afraid to look there first. 315r bits are also common/interchangeable ie swing arm/linkage wheels etc
The mont benefits from a traditional approach using throttle more than clutch. Once hooked up then you can be very aggressive on the throttle to gain momentum then back off and grip on the over run.
never quite shut off and just play with the throttle and feel the grip - use the lower end torque .
dont be afraid to use a lower gear than others to allow you to ride slow and smooth and feel for grip - the mint will rev high if speed is needed
Did you add the switch or did it come with it? According to what I understand only some of the throttle bodies can take advantage of the switch. So if you added the switch you might have a version that dose not supports it?
I can say that on my Montesa 300RR the switch makes a noticeable change but I am not sure I can compare that to a 260 with a switch.
Also, the largest difference would be on an after market programmable unit where you pick the two maps yourself.
the 300rr is noticeable at the top end.
I have tried many maps on the 250 and unless you have a big contrast it is difficult to tell unless you do proper back to back tests - I also think the brain compensates for the reaction of the bike so can mask the actual effect of the map
We use nursery/gardener plant label markers. Come in all colors and can are the same color front and back so when you walk down a section it is still the correct color scheme - not just all whites if you only have the front painted. Not the cheapest option but very easy and last quite a few years
I always thought shorter wheel base gave better grip as moved weight to the back - longer wheel base gave stability and kept front end down and hence the 52" or so compromise on the majority of trials bikes over the years.
I'm not aware of how tough the certification would be.With a fuel injected four stroke,i can't see it being a problem. You would know about these things better than me.
The 4rt comes with a street legal kit and a full power kit - not sure what homologaton is need for what though
Why do we need to put name and address on entry form ? the ACU have your details for insurance purpose from you getting acu card , So all you need to do is put bike , class ,sign and put acu number on entry form ,then GDPR is not that much of issue ?
I like your assumption that everyone who say they have an acu licence actual does.
Sure lots of phone numbers and lotto numbers are used ??
In my top 3 of WTC events that ive been to, Spa is definately in there.
If the terrain and the facilities are both there then it has to be a win win- looking at the pictures of the Angelsey circuit the potential looked quite good - I think a Silverstone and Thruxton though would require a bit more man made intervention.
Maybe a Brands or Donnington with more undulations or even Mallory or Oulton but a lot of these tracks are probably expensive and very busy with things like track days, race schools etc
Is this not a case where we or rather promoters should be looking at our race circuits and introduce not one but three or four tracks where their woodlands and outer perimeters could possibly provide terrain with sections. This offers up potential for paying spectators, vendors fees and markets etc. Parking and facilities including surrounding accommodation etc. Looks to me like a big missed opportunity, televised world round, etc etc. Why does it all have to be on foreign grounds anyway? The race circuits could just be the start and finish points with other areas in the location used for more challenging sections.
If we can do WSB, MotoGP, British GP, MX why the hell cant we do a simple trial??♂️No disrespect to anyone working for the sport, but it just seems that we Brits always capitulate or give way to some others?
Maybe we should ask the circuit owners to put tarmac around some of the best trials venues we have so they can run races around them and then we can have a wtc there .
However I doubt he was feeling engine braking from 9cc's of a difference....
More like the changes Montesa made to the engine braking aspect itself thru the model years.
Yep that’s the point - nearly ended up throuh a fence on a early go on my 15 260 after years on the 250s . Rolled of the throttle on top of a bank and she didn’t slow down as expected ???
I found the engine braking a lot less from the 250 to the 260. Engine feels a bit nicer but nothing major. I found the std 260 ligter on the front than a 250 Showa suspend model. The RR is just better again.
What do you use every day though - the math only makes sense if you have the van sat on the drive all week but if its your daily runaround its no more expensive other than maybe less mpg
I just strap mine to the side -foam protector on the end of the handle bar -run strap though in between top of fork tubes / just under yoke - not much tension needed and solid as a rock - as the song goes
