I have 40lb springs on the James and am also 15st but i ont have a problem with bottoming out either.
Is the TY heavier than a Fantic or a James ?
Dunno just a thought.
-
I would have thought 40lb springs would be ok.
The preload ring does just that increase the preload. Doesnt affect the spring rate just applies a pre load to the spring. If the shock bottom out then you will need to use 50lb springs.
The reason the steering "feels" quicker is with more pre load the rear wi be slightly higher as the springs are already loaded thereby having the effect of not allowing the rear to squat and then the forks are effectively steeper angle than if the rear was squatting under your load.
If the 40lb springs dont bottom out then use those.

Just wanted to say thanks for the friendship, warmth and help that i and all the riders from GB have received from Javier over the years.
Without Javiers help and encouragement i would never have been able to take part in one of the best events in my Trials career.
We all, those that have ridden in Robregordo, owe him our gratitude.
Javier you are a star and will be a hard act to follow.
Paul & Donna

Think it was the high spot of Donnas trip
Cant take her anywhere.
Well perhaps twice.
Perhaps Second time to appologise
-
Hope this is ok by Andy ?
Just been watching pt 1 of a video of the pre65 on todotrial.com and even though i was not lucky enough to get a ride in 2007 it brought back all the memories and emotions of when i was lucky enough to get a ride in 2008.
Plus if you watch closely near the end theres Slappers dad Duncan, Slapper and even me observing onPipeline
-
Hi Bilco Glad to hear your dads ok. He's a character isnt he
Hope we can make it next year and that you and David can too.
Oh yes Donna wants to say she's sorry she never got to say bye to you both.
Hopefully see you both sometime
-
For those that may be interested the results are up on Todo Trial website todo trial
Sorry BJ
-
Oi what about me
I must second all that BJ has said above a fantastic event made even more special by the friendliness and passion of the people.
Also thanks should go out to all the support of the wives and partners for their support. Above all a very special partner who rarely gets a mention on here, Alexandra the long suffering wife of Javier i've got a radial fin Bultaco in my living room Cruz . She always makes me feel so welcome and is the most fantastic hostess so Donna and myself thank you both for the food and hospitality oh yes and that lovely log fire .
Hope to make it again next year too.
Just wanted to add my comiserations to Jim (Beamish Owners Club) who slipped a disc before even getting his bike out of the van and spent the rest of the weekend flat on his back in bed. When i last spoke to him on my moby halfway across the Bay of Biscay he had been transferred to a second hospital and was hoping to be flown back to the UK on Wednesday. Hope you get up and about again soon mate.
Also whilst we are on about injuries. What a great ride by Magical Mick virtually one handed and still won his class on that beautiful Ossa, gonna get my ruler out when i next go round as i want my MAR to look so good, which to me was the performance of the trial.
Finally great to see Rosey even if it was behind a camera. Wonder how much he needs NOT to publish the photos
Lets try to get a big Trials Central contingent there next year
-
OK you lot where are you. Next to the Scottish probably the best event in the Trials year.
and I'm entered Yeaaaaaaeee
-
oops better change the number in my mobile
-
He'll just have to learn to drink with his left hand
Seriously though get well soon Mick was hoping to see you and Jill over a pint on the balcony at Robregordo
-
Always willing to learn Slapper
Anyway Harry her minder kept getting in the way
At times there were that many of the derbyshire mafia there i thought i was at a club trial.
Until i rode into the section that is PMSL
-
I'm still trying to get all the mud off ready for Robregordo.
Good ride Javier if only you hadnt had those time penalties on Friday
I didnt get chance to say bye to Carlos Bosch so please tell him i was sorry not to say bye and will see you both in Robregordo in a couple of weeks time.
Now wheres that polish

-
Well as the title says just wanted to say well done Vicky.
Superb ride and a well deserved "Best Woman Competitor" winning the Joan Westbrook Trophy
Good on ya girl
-
Yeah rode the James and she never missed a beat
Could have done with a fifth gear though soooooo slow on the road and time was tight. Didnt get time penalties unlike quite a few but it was down to a quick look to see where the section went, no time to watch people ride other than while you queued.
Learnt a lot though.

FWIW just got home and yes it was a toughie, well for mere mortals like me it was, very wet on top and some LARGE rocks very slippy too but all in all had a great time
Finished 127th but at least i finished
So if anybody has a piccy of number 66, preferbly not with my feet down , i would love a copy.
Cant wait till next year.
-
Jim thanks for the offer but i saw Javier yesterday at the pre65 Scottish and gave him my entry fee. I managed to fill in the form eventually.
You may have a problem contacting him as he has changed his e mail address but i'm sure as soon as he gets back home and checks on here he will drop you a line.
See you there.

Peak Classic Trials Club held round 3 of their Club Championship at Clifton Scrambles Course Derbyshire on Sunday 20th April.
The turnout of 45 riders enjoyed a course laid out mainly consisting of tight turns and cambers and though scores were low there were some big smiles on the riders faces and an enjoyable day was had by all. The rain held off for most of the day with just a slight drizzle at the end this had little effect on the marks lost. Section 7 was the most testing on both routes with a very tight turn into a descent with a sharp turn at the bottom and a blast back up the bank taking it
-
Javier i have tried but cant fill the form in.
