  1. Well i have finally for my sins aquired an Ossa MAR Mk 2 Needs a bit of work, dont they all?, so i'm asking for a bit of help and info. Parts needed. Barrel and piston as mine has a couple of broken fins and i am a bit particular about things Chrome fork tubes. Mine are pitted. See above Silencer. Does anybody make an aftermarket one? Does anything else fit? Advice. It's fitted with a dished sprocket. Need a new one. Are these available anywhere? What gearing is the best compromise? Will only be used off road as not registered. My carb Amal Mk1 is showing signs of wear so will need a new one. Should i get a Mk1 ? or a Mk2 or what. If i stay with the Mk1 carb the jetting is currently Main 180, Needle jet 105 Needle U, Slide 2 1/2, Pilot jet 30. Is this right or can it be improved ? Bout it for now but any help and advice appreciated as always
  2. I dont know of a descernable advantage other than a wider choice. I'd just be grateful for an entry Oh well fingers crossed
  3. Thanks. The barrel is aparently a Dot one but after ringing the Dot factory they dont know about the holes either. It's on std bore in good nick with very little if any wear on the bore or the piston. Oh well will keep trying. Interesting connundrum though.
  4. Midland Classic Trial Bonsall Quarry, Bonsall Moor, Matlock Derbyshire. Neither gale force winds nor torrential rain deterred the competitors at the Midland Classic Trials Club event at Bonsall Quarry near Matlock on Sunday. The venue had been doused by the incessant rain making the sections and trails exceedingly slimy and treacherous. Some riders even claiming to have lost marks due to the gales blowing them off course. However the organisers excelled in tailoring the 8 sections ridden 5 times to suit the prevailing conditions and a good days sport was enjoyed by the 22 riders attending. No one remained clean but the winners of both routes, Rob Turner and Barrie Rodgers, lost 2 marks a piece so the severity must have been just about right. The Club would like to thank the course setters, observers and riders for their support at this Trial and all year. All in all a good trial under difficult circumstances enjoyed by all. The club would also like to extend Christmas greetings and a reminder to all members to attend the Christmas Party and presentation at the Royal Oak, Ockbrook, Derbyshire on the 11th December. 5. I've bought an alloy square barrel which is apparently off a Dot which is in god nick and on std piston size. The exhaust port is bridged but above the transfer ports both sides are three holes about 5mm in diameter. Dont know anything about the barrel but just wondering if anybody knew why they were there?
  6. Peak Classic Trials Club Cookes Wood Youlgrave Derbyshire 18th November Well the weather forecast all week had been warning that winter was on it
  7. Oi i resent that So you comin then? You will have to ride a proper bike if you do. Anyway Pink is more your colour. So i've heard

  9. If its of any help what i did with my old B40, when i had it, was cut the clutch arm in half and thread the two halfs M6. then i gat a piece of s/s 10mm hex bored and tapped it M6 then screwed the lot back together. I think it was about 20mm longer than std. You only need a locknut on one end but the beauty is you can mess around with the length to find the best length. Also i made a new mtg bracket out of a piece pf 6mm dural usd the original cable hole with a bolt through to mount it. This enables you to position the cable so that the angle between the arm and the cable is optimum. Adjust the pushrod so that the arm is at 90 deg when fully pulled in. As previously said make sure all bends in the cable are as large a radius as practical. This applies to all clutch cables on any bike. Finally lube with Duck Oil if you have nylon lined cables NOT WD40 ! I have done the same mod to the Villiers clutch arm on the James but have also fitted a spherical joint to the cable end so that the cable is always at the correct angl to reduce friction. Works for me anyway.
  10. Depends on which tyres you are using and the terrain you ride on. As a start try 5 p.s.i.front and 4 p.s.i. rearif riding rocks you may want to try 6 front and 5 rear but play around and see whic feels best.
  11. Thanks for that enjoyed watching Mick on the Majesty makes a change from the James i'm so used to seeing him on
  12. Alan supplies most of the PVL parts to many people. He supplied the PVL to Villiers services who in turn supplied the complete setup including flywheel to me. Alan has helped by machining the brass flywheel and broaching the center boss for a better fit on my crank. It's the flywheels that are the problem at the moment brass being very expensive and there is a lot of wastage when machining from a blank. Good luck with whatever system you decide to go with.
  13. Have you tried Alan Whitton ????? Motoplat does work well but if i remember the crank taper is different or you have to make uo an adaptor ? Dont quote me on that but i think it is so.
  14. All very poignant and moving stuff. I do sometimes wonder if the "memory" of why we have the freedom to choose what we do will die with us? Perhaps we are the last generation brought up to stand and remember. How many remember when we stood for the National Anthem at the end of the film every time we went to the Cinema? It was just what you did wasnt it? Well what i always do wherever i am whatever i may be doing at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11 month is stop and think and give thanks for all those who gave their lives so that i can live mine the way i choose. Thanks for the videos and the poems all. We all owe a great debt that can never be repaid but will always be remembered as long as i can stand in silence and pay homage. Perhaps some of the younger members of the forum will watch those videos and read and remember then perhaps just perhaps it may have been all worthwhile? Enjoy your Sunday one and all and is two minutes silence too much to ask? Only you can answer that one. Peace.
  15. Cant comment about the RexCaunt system but i have had a PVL fitted for nearly a year now. No problems whatsoever. Even carried on working when i got a case full of water. My fault that one didnt seal the ignition case properly. So i'm happy enough with my PVL and wouldnt fit anything else. Saying that i have fitted an extra weight ring. The std Villiers part that fits straight on. You just have to re drill one hole as the holes on the PVL flywheel are all equispaced and the std Villiers weight ring has one hole which is not equispaced. Other than that i would recommend it without hesitation. Usual problem with Villiers stuff though supply. Can take a while to actually get one. Good luck
  16. Dont think they are that hard up for a guest star although John could entertain for hours with his anecdotes from past Scottish 6 day and pre 65 trials. What i will say is if this years guest is half as good company as last years then it will be well worth the trip for that alone. Oh yes one other thing Big J may still beat me in 2008 but not going to have such an easy job as in 2007 The East Mids posse will be there in 2008 Team beer monster is in training as we speak
  17. Thanks mate will let the guys know. Looking forward to riding with the mystery guest.
  18. Stathams Farm and Quarry was the venue for the Midland Classic Trials Clubs 4th November meet which was attended by an excellent turnout. With the weather being kind the previous week the venue was in prime condition with plenty of grip and a good event was enjoyed by all with all sections cleanable concentration and consistency was paramount as the event would be won or lost by a single dab. In fact many placings being decided by furthest clean rule. Five laps of ten sections was the format with section four a very tricky section in and around trees with excellent balance and throttle control required to keep the marks lost to a minimum. The Clubman route was very closely contested with the winner being decided on the oldest bike rule. The club would like to Thank all observers and especially extend their gratitude to the landowners for the use of this great venue. Results Expert Route 2 Stroke 1. C Slack Sprite 5 Marks 2. 19. Hi mate. Sorry not to get back earlier just got back from a break in France. Yes it was laid out a bit on the hard side to say the least but Martin has learnt from this and he did ask me to include his comment that the next rounds would be laid out a bit more how shall we put it "Old codger friendly" and i consider myself one of those by the way. It was Martins first Trial by the way and experience is that Bracken is a hard place to set out a trial as they tend to be either too hard or too easy and a good ablance is hard to find. Saying that if my feeble brain cells serve me right we are up at your place for the next one so should be a bit more user friendly. We do want to encourage more of the Clubman riders to dig the old bike out and that is definately in the new club secretarys mind so the future is looking good. How did i do? err last in class actually but at least i finished Hopefully see you in a few weeks and that youre feeling better.
  20. The Peak Classic Trials Club held their round of the Club championship at Bracken Rocks near Holloway Derbyshire. A good turnout on a varied mix of machinery enjoyed a good days sport over 4 laps of 10 sections mostly comprising tight turns over and around the large and slippery rocks that this venue is so well known for. As usual at Bracken concentration was the name of the day as virtually all the sections were cleanable but to achieve that you had to be inch perfect every lap. One of the hardest sections was number 4 a mix of loose and slippy rock which comprised to make it difficult to find the ideal line and stick to it. Section 5 also proved difficult with a very sharp turn over a rock step at the start causing quite a number of 5
  21. You know mate i think you've got it spot on. Light up the barbie and what the address of that house of ill ????? See ya in robregordo 2008 :0)
