  1. Just tried a xr200 carb on mine ( same carb and jets ) and the problem is still there, the same as it was before... So what now ? Coil ? Magneto ? Flywheel reader ?? If only there was some on who lived locally who I could swap bit's off a working bike to find out the problem was then I would only have to buy one part, because I don't want to have to go buying new parts to find out the ones I have are ok ...... Honda Pants? ........

    Tlr 200

The bikes will run with out the lights battery ect , but I'm not 100% sure how you "de wire" it though. Ps , If you ever want to sell the lighting system, mainly the front head lamp, pm me and we can sort something out.
  3. Hi, sorry mate but I haven't got the tool to measure things like that, only a tape measure.
  4. Does it even run ? Or is it all show and no go ? And that red frame is just asking for disaster.
  5. How much did that set you back if you don't mind me asking ?
  6. Right, lost the mixture screw earlier so now I'm nackerd basicaly. Any one have one they would like to sell or know roughly how much they are ? Cheers, HTLR.
  7. The bike ran like this before having new piston rings. I think I'm going to take all the wiring apart and check for lose connections and bad earth's (anything else to look out for ?) I will admit I haven't checked the float hight , how would this cause problems at only high, continuous revs though ? Could something so simple as the mixture being out cause Problems like this ? The spark is a nice, blue , bright colour. Will a Cb750 spark plug cap do just to check that it's not that at fault ? (there the same plugs) Cheers for all your help so far guys.
  8. I don't waste my money on that rubbish paper. Just hope dad hasn't got to work Sunday , bit daft really that they don't let him know till Friday night !
  9. In that case the CDI earth is clean and connected properly.
  10. Oh and that top left Radiator hose clamp looks loose.
  11. Why not get the 44 and go one down on the front sprocket ? I am trying to get a 44T !!!!!!! Blurter (see you at the trial sunday!) Ooops , my bad. I meant get the 45T and go one down on the front, but seen as you have found them there is no problem now. Where is the trial at by the way mate ?
  12. Ah right , is this the one thats earthed by the air box ?
  13. Ah right , I will investigate this a bit further then, also I have a timing strobe gun so am I correct in thinking that If I take out the small flat headed screwdriver nut on the flywheel side of the bike I can see if the timing marks are lining up at high and low revs .....?
  14. Why not get the 44 and go one down on the front sprocket ?
  15. How old do you have to be to enter ?
  16. Mine and my dads boys toy , I bought it but he will ride it with me on the back once it has an mot. 1982 Cb750 super four. Took it for a MOT the other day and it failed with a huge hole in the swing arm! , so its currently in bits in the garage waiting for me to source a new swing arm for it Cheers.
  17. Cheers mate , wasn't to sure where to post it as it's a road bike , but now I know.
  18. Yes it runs ok a little bit on the hot side but im told this is normal for a tlr, just supprised it kicks back so much for 200. Yes mine runs quite hot. You also need to watch out for the "false" kick every now and then , It's were you go to kick it and something in the engine doesn't agree and lets the kick start swing round with very little effort, and ,just like that, whoosh you end up with your leg wacked on the foot peg and tears in your eyes.
  19. You're only 15 and did that? Blimey! Well technically its 2 years and 2 months to the day , I'm 14 , 15 on dec 30th.
  20. Cheers mate , just a shame I can't ride her till I'm 17 , another 2 years away! Ride her in shows though.
  21. The guy I spoke to on Sunday owns and runs Betws moto in Betws y Coed. So he should know what he is on about
  22. Restored by me last winter, pictures during the rebuild are in particular order ,The gear leaver was off at the time of taking the last pictures and the front brake cable needed connecting as well. Also found out the bike has a 1949 front tyre on it as well! Still got a few bits and bobs left to do to her. Before: After:
  23. "are the valve clearances ok?" Yes "air filter clean?" Yes "when the rings were replaced did you do a valve leak test?" Yes "are there any air leaks on the carb side?" No "does the white smoke smell of burnt oil?" No "there is almost certainaly a problem with the bike. it may be prudent to have it looked at by a shop, before it costs a lot of money to repair." I'm not taking it to a shop, I am very capable of working on bikes , just restored a 1956 Ariel colt. Cheers
