  1. Simple and easy enough to do for a company like Honda, but the economics wont work for them?
  2. Is it not simply the adjusters are inboard of the swingingarm?
  3. Very true. Surely a monoshock with no linkage is what we need something that doesnt need alot of looking after. For every loss leader thats sold parts and future sales would cover costs? Thinking of our easiest route/practice area where lads ride for fun and dont compete there must be a way?
  4. .....Which is where the xispa and scorpa could come in? Reliability aside a cheap bike is a must? If the manufacturers want to do something (before its too late ) get together and build a modern ty?
  5. Biggest problem is a good starter bike like the old ty 80?
  6. only wa it will sell in viable numbers is if its significantly cheaper
  7. What worries me most is that it is impossible to disagree that the state of the WTC and more importantly Trials in most araes and countries is in crisis, and while it is the FIM are fiddling at the edges instead of banging heads together and getting some of the issues addressed. I would respectively suggest that any rule change should have required some kind of consultation with the members? Isnt the ACU an affiliate member and who was it from the UK that agreed with the change? The ACU is for the benefit of the registered riders and in this case the few who do the wtc at all levels were they consulted? When someone asks for something, like the manufacturers with no stop, I would say "what are you dong aswell"? Where is the starter bike like the ty80 was, cant you manufacturers get together and produce a loss leader starter bike so we can get the youths interested in the sport? Whats happened to the entries they are low at top level, why did people like Gomez Gibert and british lads stop going? Cost? Right as the fim we will provide a service to get bikes with our"logistics partner" DHL (yes this bits true) to get the euro s bikes to usa japan aus or whereever. Also we will negotiate a reduced airfare to these to MAKE IT POSSIBLE FOR RIDERS TO GET THERE AT A PRICE THEY CAN AFFORD!! Also the fim are going to reduce the costs they require the organiseres to pay and then subsidise the current entry costs (yes they have to pay to enter a wtc despite an entrance fee) again to make it possible to enable more to compete. Severity will be strictly enforced by pasquet who will ensure that the 3rd hard 3rd medium 3rd easier sections are set out at every event.
  8. This is the problem, and lets not forget that marking stop allowed has been far from perfect, you say "harsh" and it would be so but it would be possible, and thats the problem here and now that with such a big change it gets too subjective. I observed at an S3 round and marked the experts differently from the clubman as there routes within the one section were quite different. I found it very hard and stressful as many were stopping for fractions then a bit longer then longer, where do you draw the line. in no way is this saying that stop allowed shouldnt mark better, just that a change will cause many arguments surely?
  9. "I would" except by your own admission you dont? I think you need to ask yourself what you can do for your sport not what your sport can do for you? (sic Kennedy)
  10. Cabestany obviously thinks this is no-stop
  11. More response at the bottom flywheel weight off. Try this first then the Boyesens, but take care you have exactly the right tool to remove screws they can be made of butter (well loctited very tight!)
  12. Good point but aren't most of the arguments fpr or against one set of rules or the other more pointing to section design and management/severity? i dont care what rules but I bet not one extra bike is sold cos the wtc rules are changed one way then back again?
  13. With the section design generally the stop allowed rules which only allow 90 seconds in a section mean that very little time is spent standing still on the bike. I can think of 3 or four sections at Nord vue which were so long and technical the biggest problem was getting through on time rather than difficulty. If stop allowed is planned there is no boring time when the riders are still, its not one set of rules or another.
  14. if you are keen to watch good trialing the rounds with the uem rounds on the saturday are usually worthwhile, also there are more brits at these aswell.
  15. Scotland was all big grippy rocks with massive steps and a circus? Cumbria is the most manmade wtc that I have seen in the last 8 years. Which spanish round as these vary greatly, andorra is very natural as was the rounds in Galicia. I think to make sweeping statments that the wtc is this or that should be based on experience rather than prejudice, or altering the facts to suit your argument.
  16. how many wtc's have you been to in the last couple of years neil?
  17. Well all the scaremongering appears to be just that as I received a mail today asking for my UNIQUE ONE OFF CODE FROM MY CLUB to enable my 2013 acu regisration to be completed.
  18. I cant wait for the uem to decide which way they will go? If they stay stop allowed the saturday will be one set of rules for uem then sunday no stop, interesting at some events. I just hope this is an experiment with strict guidelines and proper enforcement as what went wrong way back when (80's?) was "the spainish 3". If its measureable as whether its a success or not needs to be clearly marked out then at the end of the year we can see if its worked or not.
  19. Thats a personal view not based on fact and I would guess you havent been to many WTC's recently?
  20. That couldnt have been addingham then?
  21. why have two sets of rules? If no stop is more dynamic will sell more bikes and get more people involved then Sheffield will be packed to the rafters for the first time in years if they go no~stop.
  22. The problem is that the sections when there was a rule change in 2010 didnt change, this will only work if, very big if, the sections are no stop sections.
