Which Sandiford was it who rode a works bultaco then??? James Sandiford was the UK Concessionaire for Montesa for nye on forty years. I doubt Montesa would be very happy if he rode a "works" Taco!!!

Hi qcowboy,
Excellent pics, stunning scenery, where do you live? Arizona? PS SWM looks nice too.

Hi - I run mine on 50:1 fully synthetic.
-
Hi OTF, I have a mag cover for a MAR, it has not been cut down around the gearbox sprocket if you are interested.
-
Hi Woody - I know the bike you are talking about, the factory Suzuki (Suzuki frame not Whitlock), and I believe that you are right the Birkett has one. A certain Mr S B has another factory SuzukiRL325, sat in a barn. However, there is a picture of Malcolm Rathmell riding a Beamish Suzuki in 1978 (Classic Bike magazine [July 1993 issue]).
-
Hello Scrumpy Jack,
Rasthus rode the 1978 yellow & black RL325 black engine model, which had the complete rear subframe loop (Classic Bike, July 1993), if that helps. I think I am right in saying the last bike JR rode was the 1981 RL325Y (no sub frame, straight rear frame rails).
-
Yes I think you are right, I have an old article on Malc, in which he states that he did not get on well with the bike. I think his contract with Beamish Suzuki lasted for just one year, then he returned to Montesa.
-
Depends on the year. The early silver/orange bike had magnesium engine cases, supplied from Japan, a magnesium carb plus titanium swing arm and wheel spindles from Beamish/Brian Fowler, it was very light apparently. The last of the Beamish "works" (1981 all yellow bike with no sub frame) had the swinging arm pivot moved much closer to the rear of the engine than the standard production bike, and a smaller tank (although they did fit a large capacity tank for the Scottish). Don't know anything about the red/balck or yellow/black models that Birkett & Rathmell rode (respectively). You should speak to Beamish owners club when he returns from his hols.

John Reynolds rode for Ossa UK in 1975, which was teh run by Roger Holden and was 2nd in the Irish world round that year riding the Cheney cantilver framed Ossa. In 1976 he moved to Beamish Suzuki, finished 6th In the Irish world round that year. In 1978 he was riding the early red/white SWM TL320 in the SSDT and sometime afte that he switched back to Suzuki. In 1981 JR rode the Beamish Suzuki RL325 in the Scott trial. I cannot be sure of the year that he switched from SWM back to the Beamish, but I met a man at Telford who had a John Reynolds RL 325, and a Beamish jacket signe by JR, and he also knows the man himself.
I hope this helps.
As JR had two stints with Graham Beamish it would be interesting to know what colour the bike is: is it silver/orange, red/black, yellow/black or just plain yellow?

Yep I agree with you B40RT, BSA made a batch of titanium framed B50 motocrossers for their works team, and they all snapped - repetitive shock stress.

Hi Woody,
Sorry for the confusion Rex Caunt only does the springs, Igot my Barnetts from the USA,as you did.

I think you have been sent a set of gripper plates, the later bikes (grippers) and the mxers had six plates fitted. Try Barnett kevlar plates and springs from Rex Caunt Racing.
-
Come on then, lets see some pictures of this RS frame and of a complete bike, if you have any. And some detail would be nice too - for example:- what type of tube is it constructed from? What are the advantages over the original? Better turning circle? Increased ground clearance?

Hi Martin M,

Hello all,
I have recently brought a Seeley TL200 and the front forks sag by 4 centimetres (probably not suprising for a 1981 bike). Does anyone know what length the springs should be and/or where I might be able to get replacement marzocchi springs from? The bike also needs any airbox, so again does anyone know where I could get one from?
Thanks

Hello Redrocket,
TY250nl is absolutely correct the clurtch cover is from a 1973 KX450, a guy in my club has a KT with the KX clutch cover fitted, it fits directly onto the KT engine after the posilube pump is removed. The KX450 clutch cover makes the bike look trick and is narrower at the front section several people fitted them after they removed the oil pump.
The red bike that you pictured was up for sale some time ago a welsh man claimed that it was an ex works bike, but it is not, as it has the window in the side panel to view the oil tank that was fitted to the standard bike (works bikes had bolt on panels or a seat tank unit) and a throttle cable that splits to the posilube pump plus other standard production features.

Bilco dude don't mock the tacos, I have seen you beating your fantic in Robregordo! Don't know who lent you the bike, but I hope it was not an ignition problem, they should have junked the fesmo kit and installed some electronic ignition.
-
Hi you need a special puller to remove the cush drive.

They look like a couple of home built specials to me. Never seen a Maico trials bike and never heard of the factory attempting to break into the trials market. However both Husqvarna and KTM built proto type trials irons and both factories contended the World rounds and Scottish six days with them. Husqvarna built bikes in 1975 & 76 one of there development riders was Andersson Erland, I'm not certain of the cc of the bikes. KTM built proto type trials bikes from 1976 until 1979 there development rider was Walter Luft and ther factory made 250 and 325cc machines. Puch & Jawa CZ also built trials bikes, and competed in the world rounds in 1976, the Puch development rider was Trummer Franz.
Best World Round results: KTM - Walter Luft Czech Republic finished 11th dropped 102 marks, Puch - Trummer Franz Czech Republic finished 12th dropped 122 marks, Husqvarna - Andersson Erland Ireland fimnsihed 36th dropped 321 marks.
I have some photos of Husky & 1976,77,78 & 79 KTMs, but unfortunately I cannot attach them. The 79 KTM had a box section alloy swing arm!
