OK now ya got me curious. Why take a small bike and make it bigger instead of getting a bigger bike in the first place and getting some more power in the process?
The colors look great.
Seeya soon.
-
If you don't screw with it, you won't make it any worse.
-
Nobody? How about 44x11 then?
-
Can anyone tell me if 42x11 520 sprockets will work without a half link on a stock TY250D?
-
Sounds like stock 199A forks to me. They should work fine.

I've never heard weight limits being discussed in Trials circles. I have long thought that it would be a simple effective means of controlling both the costs of Trials comp.as well as making the sport more accessible to common folks who can't justify such a specialized machine as a modern trials bike. After all the contest should be about who puts in the best rides rather than who can afford the lightest bike. Modern Trials bikes barely resemble motorcycles anymore and are certainly not usefull for much other trials comp.
Inertia of a heavier bike would make stop and go riding less attractive, although I'm sure the top riders would figure out how to overcome it.
The heavier bikes would surely be more durable, the pros won't care about that but it would make things much easier on the clubmen who are the backbone of the sport.
Does anyone else feel this way?
By the way, I was around when the FIM implemented weight limits on MX bikes in the 70s. The same guys still won the races but I'm sure that they saved Suzuki a lot of money on titanium parts.

I wouldn't expect time limits to be enforced at club level events. If a rider is planning on riding nationals, that rider needs to prepare him, or her, self for time limits.
At our clubs next annual meeeting I will propose, foot down and stopped=5. I think the result of such a rule in our club will be either an easing of section difficulty or some riders (myself included) moving down a class. I don't see that as a bad thing. A benefit would be quicker loop times and less time waiting to ride a section.
-
So would, stop with a dab=5 points, make everone happy? I don't think it would be hard on observers. The benefit of the doubt goes to the rider so if the rider makes a good effort to keep moving, and doesn't roll backwards, it's just a dab. The stop and hop riders would just have to deal with their time limits, but if a foot comes off while they're stationary, they better let the clutch out.

Good tip, thanks. E Bay is a pain but I figured it out.
-
Can anyone here help me find a complete brake pedal for a TY250D twinshock?
-
I think you need new, better fitting clamps, set them in the rim and see how tightly they would clamp the tire. You might want to take your bare wheel to a store where you can try different clamps.
-
Has anyone who has had a tubeless tire come off been using two rimlocks?
-
Yes. Backordered, no date.
-
Dammit! Falcons backordered. Email in to Rock shocks, waiting for response. Any other suggestions?
-
Trials 101=the novice or beginner class at your local Trials events. There is no better place to learn.
-
Thanks for the help guys. I'll order the Falcons.
-
Has anyone here ordered from them, or is there a dealer for them?
I've emailed them and got no answer.
How you rate their shocks compared to Falcon and Rock shocks? The application is a TY250.
-
Does anyone have experience with Magicals?
-
I just got a 77 TY250 and I want to set it up for competition. I have NJB Experts on my Bultaco and I want something better for the TY.
What do you all recommend? And what length shock?
-
I've always assumed that it's because of the joint in the fabric of the tire. Most tires (not Dunlop) are made of flat fabric so there is a joint where the fabric ends overlap. I've never heard of any one having a problem running one backwards though.
-
Overheating is a common complaint on that bike. Check all components and change to Evans coolant.
-
Call this guy for brakes
http://www.speedandsport.com/
Just replace the fluids.
-
So your going to save money by buying another bike? I like the way you think!
-
Imagine this scenario,
East, west, and central regional events run by the NATC with the current class structure. Then a five Trial series held at stadiums across North America, possibly in conjunction with other events, with four classes, Pro, Support, High School and Womens.
Personally I hate indoor events, but I saw what it did financially for MX.
-
Well there's a defeatist attitude. Why not step up and see if the kid likes getting "smoked" by an old guy on an old bike?
