That video makes me want to go and live in Spain.
Nice bike and good riding!
Thanks for posting

Reading all this talk about yolk is making me feel quite queezy...
-
Yes,they are interchangeable and it is a popular modification to put 200 top yolk on a 240.200 yolks are therefore quite sought after. It is fairly simple to modify a 240 yolk to reposition the handlebars to 200 position or more.A fatbar conversion can also be introduced at the same time.
-
Oil mix sounds more or less ok.Lampkins could give you a definite ratio.Try blasting up a long hill .Should smoke even more and clear.Or strip clean exhaust pipe and repack silencer. If it is otherwise running well then alls well.Probably just a build up of oily cak in the pipe.
-
Also...........there is a hassle free way of removing carb.It doesn't have to be a pig.It is well described in the Beta forum.
-
Light up a fag and tackle a section!!

The length from the centre of the mounting bolts is 12.5 inches. This and the spring type was recommended me by NJB.I don't recall the spring type but it feels good.I think the benefit of the double spring is in giving the suspension a more progressive feel-I think. It certainly did feel very nice and transformed the bike a fair bit.Grip and agility.Much more than I would have expected.
-
Hi-I used to ride a Scottish.I changed from what I had to the NJB 'expert' shocks and the difference in response was huge. Not only in obvious stuff like feeling lighter over obstacles but I remember feeling the front end also felt more agile which I couldn't understand! I 'm no expert but the shocks really made a massive improvement that was of immediate benefit to me.

Hello
I am in the process of reassembling a 240 that I've had in bits for a while and have been having difficulties locating a new swing arm chain protector.Neither Bill pye or Bob Wright have one. Also somewhere along the line I must have binned the knackered one so don't have a guide to what it should look like.Does anybody know of an alternative that would fit
By the by-I collected the newly powder coated frame swing arm and side stand from Mettech in Hereford. They also fabricated me a new skid plate in ally all for

A short Youtube film showing a brief history of trials and George Silk explaining his new gearbox-probably from the 70's?-a 4 speed with high and low ratios.Does anyone know of these Silk machines today?Engine seems similar to the Alta Gaunt Suzuki in the previous thread, the bike like a Montesa.
-
alta/gaunt suzuki on ebay 1962I wonder if it will be trialled again or is it super rare? 1972 not 62!
-
If all fails sell it to some sucker on Ebay
yeah,so we all have to go through this again!-interesting though it is..
-
Ha ha.Always makes me laugh when people say trials is a cheap sport.Like hell it is.Maybe it was in the days when the bikes were built like tractors.I generally try to forget about the cost of crashes Crashes? What crashes?
-
I agree.The rev4 is a very nice bike.More suitable for a beginner too.
-
I WANT the Bultaco tractor.
-
Beta UK (Lampkins) have downloadable frame and engine spares and pricelists in PDF format. On the 2008 rev3 the flywheel is held on by 2 plough bolts with allen fitting. The flywheel weight is a sort of gunmetal colour. This sits on the flywheel proper which is a more golden orange colour.Memory fails on the bolt setup.Beta recommend NGK BR7ES.In the Uk a 5 is recommended??Hope that helps..

There was a post here this last week.It was a fairly recent film of Honda(with the 4rt) at an auto fair in New Delhi.I guess if they are trying to get into the Indian market they will probably be quite keen to stay in the UK,be they called Montesa or Honda. Not really an answer to your question but not altogether unconnected.Seems like they just have to sort out importers and such like.If they do stop the 4rt,I would guess the next model wouldn't be too dissimilar and parts would be no more of a problem than any other brand. If theres a market there will always be someone to supply it and I know with my bike I have spent ALOT on spares.I suppose thats an opener for all the 4rt owners to say they don't know what a spanner is and never neeed spare parts........... not
-
I wonder if the rev 4 needed running in.
Roll on better weather....
-
That was great, thanks for that. The crowd seemed to love it too.Maybe Trials will be big in India Was that Amos Bilbao?
-
Definately super.Once its up and running you shouldn't need choke. That oil sounds good.Check with Beta UK about plug(lampkins).I would have a few spare filters to hand anyway.Get a good one, aftermarket ones generally seem better than originals.Have fun
How are you finding the Evo?Did you try a 4T Evo?Or consider one?
-
I am equally inept on a modern as on a twinshock in much the same way that Mr Bou would be beyond brilliant on a 4rt as on a Puch moped.I know for a fact that putting NBS shocks on my Greeves Scottish lightenend up that end of the bike and the modern footpeg is to my mind much more comfortable.O n the Beta I am always toying with the idea of flywheel weights, reeds, throttles etc,so what I am saying is that the biggest restriction is my ability. What I know the bike to be capable of does help in giving me confidence to attempt something,so any modification would probably increase my confidence(as well as bling measurement scale which seems fairly important on a trials bike). At the end of the day all bikes are lacking. There are easier ways of getting over a log.But thats not the point is it?I ride my bike because its fun and a challenge and makes me feel good.I add bits to it and take them away because I like doing mechanics and stuff. The great thing about trials for me is the challenge. Its between me and myself.I am not competing against you,but against myself and if I get less points than you thats good too.If I am better today than I was yesterday thats great.Christ what a ramble.
-
I have found the Trialcast Ghost pegs very good. They are cast steel, fairly wide platform but with a thinnish profile, grippy without being too much(you can get your foot off when you want!).Very robust. They are around
