  1. Has anybody got a list of the dates for the UEM trials next year? Have heard that they have been sorted but not released yet?
  2. Have to beg to differ there, you only have to look at the UEM Youth cup(13 to 16 yr old), this has been held by british riders for the last 4 years, and I suspect young Mr Morphett will be looking after it in 08 and 09. Apart from Gomez the Spaniards are lagging behind abit.
  3. John, the number of youth riders that are eligable / good enough to contest a whole series of world rounds are few. Would it not be sense to contact these few riders directly to find out there intentions next year, rather than potentially damaging a whole domestic series, because a few riders 'might' want to ride a world round? Only a thought.
  4. I cannot see why it is a problem running a A +B youth round on the same day as a world round! maybe the Irish round, but the others?
  5. A + B on the saturday British adult on the sunday Problem solved?
  6. This type of decision really winds me up. When riding abroad in WTC, Euro Champs etc, the Home riders always seem to get the benefit of the doubt from observers, and the Brits hardly ever get away with nowt! So on the rare occasion when we come home to ride in an international event, the good old Brit observers mark our own even harsher!!! Awesome
  7. Thanks again John for taking the time to answer a question I have pondered over for a few years. top man
  8. So why do the MX boys get a fancy none green paint job? Both teams are riding for the ACU, so whats the difference? I personally think British Racing Red White and Blue would be preferable, rather than the same colour as a vintage Jag or Aston, which would be more appropriate if they were riding for the RAC!
  9. Some poeple just can't help themselves can they?
  10. I have often wondered for a few years why the TDN team have to wear green helmets? Surely this is the Irish colour? The Spanish, Japs etc have nice helmets incorporating their national flag colours etc. The MX Des nations team had mega union Jack paint jobs on there helmets, do the ACU provide these? If so why does trials have to make do with a lick of green emulsion? Maybe it is in reference to British Racing Green, but that is cars, not bikes. Any thoughts?????
  11. Stop moaning about losing the odd event!!!!!! When Farmers in Surrey and surrounding areas are losing there livelyhoods and herds of animals that have been built up over years, contrary to popular belief farmers do get attached to there breeding cows, and to see them all being slaughtered must be heart breaking. As VicX says it is the future we must be most concerned about. If there is a 1000/1 chance of our sport spreading F & M at an event then we must not run, under any circumstances, IMHO. So stop being so selfish and look to the future.
  12. Report now posted on front page in Youth news.
  13. And likewise with vesty years before that. The better the riders you ride against, the more you raise your game. If said rider is riding non-competitive it is easy to just carry on as before, cos you don't have to beat him to win a championship. You could organise a 'World Series' within the national champs, just for the Yanks!
  14. Everybody seems to second guessing the weather for this weekend at Hawkstone. Surely the worse the weather the better for the British lads, especially Dougie. If it P****S down all day Sunday, my money would be on Dougie over Bou. The same goes for all the Brit riders over Euro opposition. Not good for the event though, spectators etc!
  15. I think you will find this is a 5 day event, the Cinq Jour bit kinda gives it a way! The dates are 25th to 29th August.
  16. So you were'nt riding in the event but still got your bike stuck in a bog!!!!!!!! Having just read Rappers article on the pre 65 event, I hope you weren't one of the illegal riders jeopardising this event for future years!!! If so you won't be getting a ride in future, because there won't be an event
  17. Buy this mornins yorks post, if your in the top 3 it'll be in there. Or wait for the postman, about thursday! Or if your really lucky, wednesday!!!
  18. I was told Fothersgill, I am checking out which is correct.I have checked and Ishy was right, it is FOTHERGILL.
  19. I think the correct spelling is Fothergill, not Fothersgill. I was told Fothersgill, I am checking out which is correct.
  20. Addingham Moorside Closure. I have been contacted by my Club, Yeadon Guiseley & District Motor Club, who has sole use of Addingham for organised events, to issue a statement regarding the future of trials at this venue. Our club secretary Sue Smith is in regular contact with the landowner, and has received the following news this morning. Mr Alan Fothergill has received a written order from the council, stating that he must pad-lock the gate forthwith, and not allow this piece of land to be used for any kind of motorcycle use, either practicing or organised events run by our club Yeadon Guiseley for at least 12 months! This has very serious implications for some prestigious events, especially the Mackenzie British Championship Trial that was due to be run in August at Addingham, the future of this event is in doubt. Mr Fothergill is not taking this latest turn of events lying down, and is willing to fight the council on our behalf but he needs some help in doing so. He has requested that any and everyone who has ever practiced ridden a trial spectated or in any way has a connection with Trials at this event to write a letter to him, he can then collect all these letters together and take them to the magistrate to put together a case for continuing the use of this land for Trials. This is a venue that has been used for Trials for many many years, and has produced countless quality riders, and is a major factor in the success of Dougie Lampkin, James Dabill Graham Jarvis etc, the list goes on and on, we now must club together to try and keep this land open, don

  22. Just been talking to the team out in Morella Spain for the first round of the Euro Youth Champs. Since they arrived on Thursday it has been virtually none stop TORRENTIAL RAIN! The start and paddock are by a river, with half the event the other side of the river, the river is now impassable so half the course has been lost, and the Civil Police have now arrived, and the whole Paddock and all its inhabitants, have to be moved to higher ground due to the risk of the river bursting it banks and flooding the Paddock!!!! The course has now had to be re-done with only five of the original sections remaining. So far a complete disaster for the organisers, who are tearing there hair out! So much for sunny Spain!
  23. Jack Challoner will be in Morella defending his European Youth Crown. Unfortunately I will be stuck at home cos I've ruptured my Achilles, so I am in pot being grumpy on my crutchs!
  24. Slightly off topic but. Is Pat Smage doing any world rounds this year? Just been lookin at the entry list for Guatemala and thought he might be riding. If he isn't riding, why not?
  25. This e-petition thing looks ok, but if we are going to do one, then make it something worthwhile and to with the current issues. Petitioning the PM to let poeple ride indiscriminately around random areas that we assume to be classed as waste / un-used land is not a good idea, as these bits of land will be owned by somebody, and is just encouraging riders to trespass and further alienating off road riders to the general public /police etc. A petition along the lines of not implimenting a law that all of road competiton bikes should be road registered would be more usefull and relevent with the current issues we have.
