  1. I think it is very likely.Maybe in a year or two. The only reason i think it has'nt already been made so is because the current top 3 riders in the world have too much clout, and they don't want no-stop. The majority of the factories want no-stop. I think things will start to change at the end of the Dougie Era.
  2. In the ACU handbook their are two sets of rules,, as you probably already know. TSR22 and TSR22A. TSR22 is the full no stop rules i.e. no stopping permitted, if you stop forward motion it is a failure/5. TSR22A is as you know stop permitted / allowed, but for a 1 mark penalty. So when I say penalised, I do not mean a failure.
  3. Yes sasha Turkington has a pink gasser, looks mega, if your a girl that is!
  4. I think your observers are going to need a degree in Astral Physics to observe at one of your're trials!!! As for TSR22A, yes stopping is permitted, but not without penalty. Good luck, but rather you than me. keep it simple, then its easy & fun for everyone, riders & observers alike. Whatever rules you go for, the best riders will always win, so why complicate things for the majority of the entry? Lets keep the complicated rules for Bit Champs & above.
  5. Thats great news Alan. Somthing to look forward to at the end of a long season.
  6. As of about 4 years go we in the UK fell in line with the rest of europe by making all youths up to 17yrs old ride 125 machines. Upto then we too had 14/15 year olds on 250 machines. The governing body then changed the ruling to give our youths a better chance against the continental youths, at first this was not universally regarded to be a good move, but now it has bedded in, we are producing some very talented youth riders. Now the youths have to learn how to get a bike up an obstacle using technique, and not just raw power. When they do eventually move onto a bigger bike, the technique is there as well as the power.
  7. I have just been reading the article about Pat Smage, first time i've read it. Why is he riding a 290 Sherco bike???? Their have been various posts on here regarding this kid, about him possibly riding in the Youth Indoor etc, and about getting a US rider into the WTC. The article also say's he wants to ride some Youth WTC round after his 16th birthday. Surely by riding a 290 he is going to struggle in any Youth WTC rounds where he would have to make the transition to ride a 125!! and similarly in any UK youth champs. Just my thoughts, seen as it seems that you guys in the US are trying hard to find someone good enough to compete at world level, I don't know how good this kid is, but it would be interesting to put him up against the likes of our Jack,Alexz and Ross Danby etc. Just because he can ride a 290cc under AMA rules, does'nt mean it is the best thing for him to do!!
  8. I personally would advise against an older Gas Gas, the Techno was a good solid bike, with good build quality.
  9. I think what perce is meaning is not outside the UK, but abit further north! Our Club Y & G ran the Cobb & Jagger trial this weekend, nearly 200 riders, all starting at section 1. Everybody was finished by about 4pm, apparently Otter vale ran a trial yesterday under stop permitted rule with 160 riders, they did'nt finish until approx 5:15 pm. So not only do the observers have complicated rules, they are out in the cold longer! The majority of trials in the Yorkshire centre, the biggest & strongest centre in the UK for trials without doubt, are run under the No-Stop rules, we have no shortage of entries, no shortage of Observer's (usually) no shortage of quality riders and consistently produce some of the best Youth riders in the country. Trials up to centre level do not have to be hop & bop, only national & above, then the youngsters & better adults have somthing to aspire to, & can learn their trade before attempting to be superstars. This will encourage Joe Bloggs to have a go & not scare him off.

Not PJ1 through and through any more!! The Beta Team are now officially Repsol Beta.
  11. Hi Alan, As you know we were at the Indoor last year with Jack. We thought you did a fantastic job & organised a mega event. Not just a few skips & a few pallets like the usual small indoor trials, but proper indoor sections, it was just like a mini Sheffield. We all thought that the trial was a fantastic end to the national season, abit of a Grand Finale to the year & a chance for all concerned to get together & have a beer etc afterwards If you are thinking of running the event again, we would be more than happy to help in any way we can. Cheers, Cya soon Team Challoner.
  12. theres a steady little jaunt of a trial going on in fort William, This May day bank holiday,It only lasts six days, why not have a go at that, how does between 80 to 126 miles per day sound to ya?? One lap trials are the best, proper trials & long may they continue.
  13. Told you so about Kenichi, In TMX this week.
  14. I could'nt agree with you more Northern Norm. The Indoor WTC is supposed to be a showcase of the best riders in the world, Toni Bou is obviously one of these top men.He finished fifth in the Outdoor WTC, so why is he not in?? It used to be that the top 6 from the outdoor automatically qualified to ride in the Indoor series, why has this changed? If they don't let Bou in, then whoever wins the indoor WTC will not be a true world champion as they have not consistantly competed against all the best riders in the world. But I suppose Adam Raga needs all the help he can get. If its not Gas Gas team orders helping him its the Spanish Trials Mafia (Octagon).
  15. You are right Cota kid, octagon who own the rights to the indoor WTC have only got him down as a wild card rider! I don't know how they work it out but it sucks. He was a finalist in a couple of indoor world rounds last year as a wild card, & then finished 5th in the outdoor WTC! What does this lad have to do!!!!!!! I think the spanish trials mafia may acting on Adam Raga's behalf, cos if he was in all the events I think Raga would be afraid...very afraid.
  16. I have heard a rumour that Kenichi Kurayama (Dodgy spelling I think) is also going to Scorpa, and Beta will only have 1 full factory rider in 06 being Toni Bou.

    Jack Challoner

Hi Andy, Did,nt know I could do that??? How do I go about submitting it?? Is it too late to get it on the front? Cheers, Adsy.
  20. 14 year old 2005 B Class British Champ Jack Challoner has agreed terms with John Lampkin to stay on the much improved 125 Beta for 2006. This will be Jacks 4th full year as a beta Teamster which has taken him to 2 British Titles along the way. Jack will also be wearing Beta / Ritratto Sport clothing as part of this deal for 2006. Jack has long been associated with Wayne Braybrook & X-Citing clothing, but will be moving to the new brand at the end of the year. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Wayne for all his help over the last 3 years. Although he will not be completely cutting all ties with Wayne as he will still be using REP & Hope products. Jack will continue to be supported by Trials Cast, the Derbyshire based company, who manufacture quality cast foot-pegs, cams etc, we would also like to take this opportunity to thank Steve & Andy for their support in 2005. On the Competitive side, Jack has got permission from the ACU to move up into the A class British Champs a year early, & will be working hard to make an impact in his first year, Jack will also be contesting selected Adult British champs on the expert route. Next year will also consist of a full on attack on the UEM Youth European title, with rounds in France, Italy and Spain. We would like to thank everyone who has helped in 2005, anybody who would like to help in 2006, please get in touch. We would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas & winning New Year. From all at Team Challoner. :santa1:
  21. I am assuming that this does not include the A + B youth rounds. If it does'nt, then how can you have one British Championship running under 1 set of rules & the youths, some of which are riding in both championships, under the old FIM rules. I welcome the change, but surely it should be case of all together or not at all!!!!!!
  22. [i think the Trucks were at the first round in Garbagnate Monastero, and the second round Norway(see photos above)and you said some at the 3rd round, so that would be all the UEM rounds Adsy? Regardless of that there is more support from the federations, they were I think at Hawkstone too? QUOTE] Yes the trucks were at all the youth euro rounds that coincided with an Adult round,i.e Garbagnate Monastero & Hawkstone. My point being that there was a much smaller presence at the final round that was a stand alone youth & womens event. It is not fair to portray within these posts that there are lots of big trucks following foreign youths all over europe, yes they will help out if they happen to be their, but thats it, apart from the very priveliged few. As for the backing foreign youths get, they get it from the factories mainly, & not from RFME etc, all the federation trucks are subsidised by sponsorship, from within the industry. If the Uk manufactured two of the main trials machines we would not be having this debate, as they would be encouraging home grown talent to sell their product. But after all this we can all agree on one thing!!! At the moment the UK has crop of some of the best youth riders in the world, its just a bl**dy shame we can't give them the support they deserve to get them right to the top. Whatever happens (if anything) I think the UK has a very rosy few years ahead at the very top level of the sport. Look out the TDN in a few years time.
  23. Oops!!! I meant Alfredo Gomez, not Edwardo :madsanta:
  24. Nigel Dabster Posted Today, 06:56 AM or this, both pictures from Norway Euro round, mainly youth. The Norway round was also the last round of the Adult Euro Champs. At the Youth / Womens only Euro rounds the Big Trucks of the Spanish/Italien/French federations are rarely seen. At the last round this year, the Italien truck turned up, (the trial was in Italy)& the Spanish federation sent a much smaller vehicle which was for the sole use of Laia Sanz! Even Edwardo Gomez did'nt have the use of it, but he does'nt get any help from RFME as he is not from Catalunya!!!!!!!!
  25. I also agree that there should only one set of rules. But only for certain types of events. The current FIM rules are not viable in local events, as its hard enough getting one observer per section, never mind a time keeper as well! Plus it would mean trying to re-educate observers again to another set of rules. Full No stop is the simplest answer, but this is then dragging the talented youths down I feel. Take my nephew Jack, he rides no stop at most (not all) of his local events, old FIM rules (obselete) at A & B nationals, then when we ride the Euro champs the new stop & hop allowed FIM rules, there is no consistancy for him at all. This is incredibly frustrating. Another possible option would be to run all trials below British Championship status under full no stop & the British Adult & Youth Championships under the Full FIM ruling, as at the end of the day it will be these riders that will be going on compete in FIM & EUM events which run under these rules. If we had done this originally, maybe we would still be able to see Dougie riding in this country, as opposed to forcing him to ride the Spanish Championship. If we carry on like we are we will not be able to watch the wealth of young talent we have coming through the ranks at the moment, the likes of Alexz Wigg, Ross Danby and Jack Challoner etc, unless we go to Hawkstone or fly to Spain etc. At least this way the good lads will only have to ride to only 2 sets of rules, instead of having to ride to a completely obselete set of rules, these being the old FIM rules. Anyway thats my point of view, does anyone else have any ideas??????????
