  9. BikeTrial at the Trials Training Center Sequatchie, Tennessee 09 October 2004 By Michael Friddell Did somebody say something about rain? Oh yeah, that's right, only a forty percent chance, huh?! That forecast should have be more like this: "Light rain beginning at dawn, gradually getting harder as the day progresses and then tapering off once Mike Friddell's biketrials event concludes at around 3:00pm Eastern." So yeah, it rained. As anyone who's ever been there can attest, the algae-covered rocks at the Trials Training Center get a "little" slippery when they are wet. Well, to be fair, not ALL the rocks were slippery - just most of them! Luckily, I knew there was a chance of rain so I tried to set the sections accordingly. I only had to make a couple of minor changes. I set all of the sections in a totally different area from the past events, called Dry Water Creek. It seems to have a nearly infinite number of possible lines so I'm looking forward to doing some future events in this area. I have to say that I did expect a bigger turnout for this event. While it was awesome to have so many riders from other areas such as North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama and Ohio, I was a little disappointed to see only four of my fellow Tennessee riders. Hopefully, we'll see a few more at the Ocoee in two weeks. Overall, everyone seemed to have a great time, despite the rain. I know I had a lot of fun putting together some "scratch-your-head" sections and seeing how each person came at them differently. The rain just added another dimension. A big thanks to Dan, Bub, Charlie and everyone else at the TTC for keeping the place running and allowing me put on my events. I also must thank Murfreesboro Outdoor and Bike, Blue Ridge Mountain Sports and Red Bull for their indispensable support. Finally, thanks to all the riders and especially those whom I've gotten to know personally for all your words of encouragement. If nothing else, I enjoy putting on these events to see old friends and make new ones. Results: Beginner 26-inch 1. Jon Owens 31 2. Jason Wagnon 32 3. Chris Bond 46 Beginner 20-inch 1. 10. Tim, you had something to do with the "lads" coming to TTC, didn't you? Great guys and great riders too. Thanks for your part in getting them over here. TTC won't be the same without them.
  11. Any one else notice the "number plate" Fill er up!
  12. You don't need IRC's , you need a winch! (not a wench, I said winch) Ok maybe a winch in front and a wench in back.

    2000 Sherco 2.9

Yes that is a good idea. For a stud, try to use a long set screw. That way it's easier to get out if needed.
  14. I would have thought that the TL 125 would have been in the running for most popular too. Granted, not the most competetive of bikes, but they were and still are popular. The TY may have it because it was built for many more years. The TL was only built from 1973 - 1976.
  15. About the same as the new Mont's going to be.
  16. Aaron, I believe that the STRA is the same way. I don't know what happens to the stolen bikes, but you'd think they would turn back up eventually at an event.

    Sherco 4stroke Price?

  19. Terry, the burning comes from a lean out condition. The other problem would be predetonation acting like a hammer on top of the piston.
  20. Good question. I know that modern cars and trucks cut off fuel to electronically limit the speed though. I would think that if it cut off the fuel completely it wouldn't predetonate. The four strokes I've ridden just ran out of gas when they ran out of gas. I do remember a 250 CZ (2 stroke) that went like a bat out of hell just before it ran out of gas completely.
  21. Marlintec, I would have thought we would be looking at a 13000 to 15000 red line. Do you think the bikes have titanuim or sodium filled valves? In the future we should be looking at variable valve timing, tuned intakes, possibly variable runners, and wild differances in exhaust. This coupled with the digital fuel injection should make amazing little motors. One other thing. On a thread a long time ago was the discussion of kill switches and how they don't work at high RPM. Now the kill switch could be wired into the fuel management system to starve the engine as well as kill the spark. What about a little NoS for those big hills!
  22. Ryan Young and David Chaves have been experimenting with some round pnuematic balls that would take the place of a tube. Even if you puncture one ball there are still several left and your tire dosen't go flat. If I remember right they are about the size of a baseball. I would guess that you still use a tubeless tire and still air it to your desired pressure.
