  1. I didnt think this was 'that' sort of site! Andy.
  2. Thanks Jimmy. Would be good to know what happened. really quite shocking. must be a very difficult time for his family. Jimmy, did you want to do a RIP Aaron thread? to let others know as they may not look at this thread. I gather you knew him well? Andy.
  3. holy crap, thats tragic news. im shocked. Im the one who met Aaron and Ryan at Earl shilton and spoke to him a few times on the phone since. Was only thinking about him today too, i was gonna call him to see how it was going with the bike. I was rather hoping he would become a riding partner so we could learn together. Cant believe it at all. I was hoping to gain him as a riding partner because i thought what a thoroughly nice chap he was when i met him. my thoughts go to his family. Andy.
  4. Will sanding the forks remove the chrome though? how about using T-cut with a rag and.....er... cleaning them vigorously, you know the sort of 'cleaning' that could make me go blind! surely if the scratches are that small, a bit of abrasive paste will do. 600 grit paper is pretty harsh stuff and i would have thought would do more harm than good. if sanding is the answer, how about 1000grit? (not questioning your methods.....well actually i am! but not in a negative way, i just dont want to end up having to throw even more money at it cos ive trashed the fork legs.) I do have an electric polisher too if it needs something extra. Andy.
  5. Well, one of the first jobs to be done after buying my txt250 was to change the fork seals, the fok legs were pretty wet. It was a bit of a pig getting the old seals out and just as difficult getting the new ones in. but all was done, new oil in and the bike rebuilt. after a couple of hours riding on the bike, i have noticed that they are both weeping, the left hand side (brake side) is even worse than before, so much so that its killed the front brake by leaking all over it. Has anyone had this problem before? ive just been out and stripped the left fork leg again and drained the oil out. the oil is quite grey considering it hasnt done much work. another point that could be related is that the black ajuster on the top of the fork leg is stuck fast and will not adjust. the other leg adjusts ok. the right fork is also leaking although nowhere near as bad. both chrome legs look in good condition, not sure what sort of scoring im looking for but they both clean up nice and nothing obvious wrong with them. please help as im really getting fed up with the bike and starting to think about selling it after so many problems. Andy. **EDIT** its an Edition version by the way, not Pro.
  6. Ive watched some of it and its very good. Im in two minds about the music, it was a very good selection, well chosen. But i can also see the point of having it just with ambient sound. I think im slightly in favour of having WITH music. Great job on the DVD though! well worth the money so if you havnt ordered yet, get in quick! its a bargain. Andy.
  7. yeah, why wont it work like that? no, im just gently coaxing a friend to get into trials, its proving a struggle as he really wants to start MX, but after a trip to earl shilton last week to watch the two day trial, im making headway! hopefully this DVD could just tip the balance and convince him to get a bike. Andy.
  8. Just ordered two copies. Cant wait to see it!! Andy.
  9. Ive got my first trials related wrist injury about a week and a half ago, the trouble is i havnt even ridden the bike yet! i was manouvering it around the garage and obviously pulled or twisted my wrist in the wrong direction. ive never been so frustrated with motorcycling! i cant wait to get out on the bike and try it, but i just cant even consider it yet as my wrist is healing so slowly. might try those supports from Argos, they look pretty good for the money. Andy.
  10. but it is still a trials bike, surely unless you are jumping off ridiculous heights, it should be designed to work without breaking in half. are you going to be looking for a warranty repair? Andy.
  11. Ouch!! how old is the bike? so whats the story behind the little misshap then?? Andy.
  12. yeah was certainly an entertaining last few laps! i really thought lorenzo had it when it came to that last corner. Ive had my bike go sideways by wheel spinning many times, but thats generally when the roads are very cold or damp and im travelling in a straight line. to do do it on scorching hot race rubber on a nice sticky track while lent over on your knee, well thats just insane!! muchos kudos to these guys! Andy.
  13. yep, a great inspiration. its simply astounding what the top guys can do on two wheels. Andy.
  14. Thats brilliant, thank you Andrew. Think i must have been close to the point where the fan should come on, but didnt notice it, so still probably worth me shorting the stat to prove the fan out, then i know the first time i got out riding i can keep an eye on it to make sure it comes one. Andy.
  15. having not ridden mine for more than around 5 -10 minutes, im unaware if my fan is working or not. To prove the fan itself, i want to short out the stat, but as yet havnt looked for it, anyone point me in the right direction? im guessing its just a case of lifting the tank isnt it? its an 03 txt350 by the way. Also, how long do people find it takes from cold before the fan should start coming on? Andy.
  16. no.... im sorry you are going to have to give another clue perhaps if we could see the same shot from the front too, that might help. Andy.
  17. Damn, you got some boots! Ive been waiting for them to get new stock in, i wonder if they have them now. They didnt really have anything in my size. Will have to try them again. If you talk to shaney in there she's good at working a deal out and there isnt much she doesnt seem to know about trials and the bikes. For example i go in and ask about wheel bearings for an 03 gasgas, she reels off the part number then dissapears in the back to return with them in her hand 10 seconds later! i also ask about fork seals to be told about the different sizes available. they really are top notch on trials stuff. Well i have no excuses now (apart from having no money!), the bike is ready so need to get myself kitted out with helmet, boots and gloves. See you tonight Aaron. Andy.
  18. A quick update to let you know how i did it in the end. boiling water wasnt enough a rawbolt wasnt enough, even tightening it with as much force as i could, it still slipped free before the bearing did. i finally did it using a length of 20mm steel conduit (electrical conduit) using the end that had been threaded it was a spot on fit to slide inside the inner race and touch the spacer. I had to use a blow torch on the hub, then a disturbing amount of force with a hammer to pop the first bearing out, after that i was able to heat and hammer out the other side. I wouldnt be surprised if these were the original bearings, they were in such a state and were wedged in so tight! i hope i never have the same trouble again, it was very stressful having to hammer a spoked wheel sideways so hard! Andy.
  19. Aw crap, time to say goodbye to my lunch money then! Andy.

    Ezberg 2009

Will this be televised do you know? EDIT: i see you are not in the UK, sorry. maybe someone else will know? Andy.
  21. I may just take you up on that, need to check the calendar to make sure there is no work on or family commitments, otherwise im up for giving it a go. Just how many 12 year old girls exactly will be showing me how to ride? Actually that doesnt bother me at all, i'd be just as happy taking tips from a school kid as i would from an adult, i have nothing to prove, ive never trial'd before therefore im allowed to be crap! Andy.
  22. Thats great, thanks very much Graham really useful info. i may set myself a target of lining up at the Glendon trial. Aaron why dont you go for that one too! Andy.
  23. Im planning on heading up there this wednesday to have a look. does anyone have any links to info to help newbies, like whats required to get us to the point of lining up on a trial, ie do we need to join the ACU? would that be in addition to joining NVMCC or cambridge matchless? or is it included? is there any resources for rules and general practices on a typical trial? ive had a look at the ACU site and downloaded some stuff on rules, but i have no idea whether its the same set of rules i would face say if i turned up at Glendon. Andy.
  24. I have the same issues. I want to spend time practising on the bike first. Not really too fussed with competing at all really, but will probably have a go at some point. So far ive ridden the bike for a total of about 2 minutes and having mainly road bike experience its a complete change and something i need to work on. I can second John Lees, been getting all my stuff from there. Quite surprising how much they have in stock. Plus they have so much knowledge. wouldnt go anywhere else. as for practice venues, im looking into the Earl shilton club. www.estc.co.uk might head over there on wednesday evening as they have a trial on so might go to have watch. Im not ready to ride yet as i havnt got sorted out with helmet, gloves and boots. but now the bike is ready, that will be the next step. Andy.
  25. Hi Aaron, like you im new to this too, and not too far away in northants. you will find loads of info on the forum and some very helpful people too. Andy.
