  1. What are you trying to achieve?
  2. Can you please post a picture? Just not heard of a M2R!
  3. If you overfill the radiator the fluid cap expand when hot and “overspill” past the rad cap and down the overspill tube.
  4. I agree with tony27, now that I’ve read it properly. The stat needs more than a cable tie to keep it in!!!
  5. Overspill from over filling the radiator maybe?
  6. I now use motel 10w50 and the bike sounds very nice
  7. I do get a little clutch stick, but interestingly only when the bike has been transported somewhere! Not sure what that’s all about. It can sit in my garage for months and doesn’t stick, but if I take it somewhere it sticks for about thirty seconds or so.
  8. Hi everyone. Just thought I would leave an update. Everything is now sorted and as quiet as a mouse. I had set the tappets with too large a gap.
  9. Thank you very much for your help. I’ll investigate and keep you all posted.
  10. Thank you for this. Can you elaborate on how to check either the cam chain or centrifugal valve opening device please?
  11. Hi everyone. I have owned my Evo 250 4t from new, but it only has 19hrs on it. I have been told that it is nice a quiet in the past. However, I have always felt that it is a bit too tappety. I have removed the engine and checked the valves and following a few failed attempts the gaps are now definitely as per the manual. But still the rattling continues. can you please have a listen and advise what to check next.
  12. I hope this works. please have a listen and let me know if this is normal. I think it’s too tappety
  13. Hi guys and girls. I am trying to put a vid of it running. Can anyone tell me how to do this?
  14. Cheers Reggie, Engine cold or hot doesn’t seam to made any difference.
  15. Okay, thank you all for your replies. I followed Timdog’s instructions and I am happy to report that the bike now starts no bother and is running great. However, I am still not happy with the tappety noise coming from the top end. I would much prefer the engine to run much quieter. Any advice on what to look for next now that I know the valves are adjusted correctly?
  16. Thank you for this. I will apply everyone’s advice and report back tomorrow
  17. How do I know if it’s on the compression stroke? Also how do I check if I have disturbed the decompression valve?
  18. Dropped the engine right forward, but didn’t do the tdc bolt. I’ll try again tomorrow.
  19. I’m often told when riding trials that my 2016 4t is really quite. However, I have always thought that it was a bit “tappety”. Anyhow I decided that if I can’t ride it at the moment I might as well check the clearances on the valves. So I ran the bike yesterday and left it overnight to cool right off. Today I stripped the bike down and took the valve covers off to check the clearances and found that the tappers were really tight! So much so that it took a full turn and a half on the adjustment screw to get the feeler gauges in. Any how I went ahead and adjusted to the correct gap and rebuilt the bike. Now the bike won’t start and is really hard to kick over. In fact it’s like trying to kick a 1990’s Honda cr500 over. What have I done wrong? Any help will be great thanks.
  20. Sticky clutch plates? Before you start the engine, put the bike in top gear and rock it back and forth with the clutch pulled in until it frees off. Once free and in neutral you can kick it over. Or you can start it, pull the clutch in and ride it around until the clutch frees off.
