Mineral Oil Instead Of Dot 4 For Clutch Master Cylinder

Featured Replies

I have a Magura slave cylinder for the clutch, be Magura say you can ONLY use mineral oil, Dot 4 will destroy the seals. I am using a Braktec clutch master cylinder, the plastic cap does not have any marking on it, unlike the front brake master cylinder, which has Dot 4 stamped on it.

Will mineral oil cause any problems with the Braktec clutch master cylinder seals (I'm assuming it won't as it doesn't contain any acids, unlike Dot 4). I believe some new bikes use mineral oil, but I'm not sure. Any help would be appreciated.

Seals MUST be compatable with the fluid-period!  Call them if unsure what is in it! Or change seals in the slave to match.

It's not possible to change the seals in a Magura slave cylinder, so I'll have to change the seals in the master cylinder.
