I have a TY250A with two spark plug holes. Did they come that way or could it be an aftermarket head? Online parts lists don't seem to show two but a drawing in the service manual looks to have two. I remember having a DT1 with a compression release but don't know if it was OEM or after market.

Hi , I have a friend who has a YAM TY250 and the Shirty Mod bracket on the front disc brake has broken. Does anybody know where I can get another one please?

Can you buy a modern throttle and cable for a TY250 with original Teikei carb? The only cable I see available is for the original throttle. Or do you buy a Domino or Amal throttle and make your own cable? Are cables somewhat standard between carbs such that if I move on to a mikuni or OKO would the same cable work? Are other carbs an improvement over the Teikei? I'm not seeing Teikei jets or parts available so it make be best to change anyway.

Restoring my Whitehawk TY175 for the second time in 25 years, but this time i want to smarten it up with new stickers. Does anyone out there know where i can get a set please?

Fitted a DT100 case but find the TY kickstart splines dont protrude through enough and that I can pull the kickstart shaft out by 10mm, I could space that out with a teflon spacer but does anyone know if the RT or DT100 (or early dt175 twin shock) kickstart shaft is longer than the standard TY shaft? Or do these models have different crankcases that positions the kickstart shaft further out with the correct clearance to the clutch case? Has anyone successfully extended a kickstart shaft by cutting, welding in a new section? Looks like the kickstart shaft would have to be about 10mm longer than std TY175 to use these older cases. I have a new to me TY250A twin shock and the rear sprocket lightly rubs on the swing arm. Do they normally have very little clearance? The bike appears unmolested and with low hours. The axle hardware/ spacers match what is shown on the part list. The rear sprocket is steel, looks original and is marked PORTCO YA-311-53. The sprocket runs reasonable true and is not bent. My attempt to check sprocket alignment with a home improvement type laser suggests that the rear sprocket is about 1.5 mm farther out than the front sprocket. Is there something else to consider before installing a 1.5 mm spacer or taking 1.5 mm off of the mounting surface of the sprocket? Purely …

Yamaha ty175 Just had full engine rebuild but can't get it to spark. Coil / plug works as tried on another bike and has seperate earth wire from coil to engine, so it's got good earth. Points open, condensor is new. Flywheel is magnetic, new woodruff key How can I test generator/ ignition coil. When I use multimeter from black wire to earth I get 1.6ohms . Getting same on a spare unknown ty windings.

Hello everyone, I'm hoping someone can do me a big favor and provide me with the measurements for stock 1975 spokes, front and rear. I have the original 16" and 14" wheels as well as the original 32 spoke hubs. I do not have any of the original spokes. I ordered aftermarket spokes which measure 137mm and 172mm and cannot make them work after many attempts. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hey all, Hoping I can get some replies here! I’ve have a ‘74 TY250 for about a year. Took it out for a single ride other than up and down the road and around the property (moo), it was so much fun. Can’t wait for the upcoming season. two questions: 1. i purchased it for $1300. It came with an entire other bike’s worth of parts. Wheels and tires, gas tank, etc. All except the engine that was destroyed when it got wrapped around a tree. What’re your thoughts on that price for the bike and parts? I thought it was a steal. 2. Hello all, I have a 1977 Ty175 with a broken clutch basket P/N 525-16150-00-00 it has one of the fingers broken off, and also play between the primary gear and the basket These seem hard to find, so does anyone have one that they would like to sell? Thanks

What other Yamaha dirt bike fork tubes (not stanchions) are identical to the TY250A? I was thinking 74'/75' DT250 might be the same? I would like to replace one of my fork tubes and it might be easier to source other Yamaha dirt bike tubes. Glenn

I have rebuilt my sons TY80 after the output shaft sheared. New shaft fitted and on with rebuild. I have 1 thing am not 100% sure on . Does the selector drum have to be in a certain position before putting the rest of build together ?? i presume it should be in neutral as i stripped it in neutral if correct but am not sure . please see last to pictures with different positions any advice would be much appreciated. Has anyone taken a 125 out to a 175 or a similar size? Or what is the max you can out of the standard 125 barrel. I was hoping to locate a 175 barrel and head, seems a fairly rare thing nowadays!

My TY175 frame could do with a quick refresh. Has anyone used smooth silver hammerite spray. And if so, did it wear well - especially where boots rub on the sides?

Hi folks, just bought a TY175 at a fair price and I need some help to find out the bike year (roughly) and other info.. It is unregistered but all numbers are there. Couple of strange things about the bike (to my limited TY knowlege) It has chrome wheels and a different front brake plate to others I see, also a plastic generator case. The rear sprocket is HUGE with 60 (teeth?) stamped on it, After a quick internet search, the engine seems to be from a 1978 DT175MX , likely thats why it needs that big rear sprocket. Engine number begins with *2k4-then 6 digits. Dissapointed that the wrong engine is in the bike, I am positive the previous owner…
