Peak Classic Trials Club held their first trial of the 2105 season at Clifton Scrambles course Ashbourne Derbyshire last Sunday and managed somehow to find the good weather day sandwiched between the usual winter weather. The recent snow and ice had all disappeared and the next wave wasn’t forecast till mid week so the good turnout of riders made the most of the winter sunshine which hindered vision a bit on some sections being just in the wrong place but we mustn’t complain and nobody did. Four laps of 10 sections was the order of the day and as usual it was the limestone rocks that took most marks with section 9 being the nemesis of many a good ride. Steve Hitchcock p…

I'd like to thank the Golden Valley team and their observers for the excellent March Hare yesterday.A massive amount of work has been put in,which isn't over yet.The number of fallen trees they had to clear was way beyond the amount of work they would have expected to do. At times it rained so hard it was difficult to see where you were going - that's my excuse for apparently missing 2 sections... But that was my fault, nobody else to blame for that. Running a road trial involves a massive amount of paperwork and organisation with various official bodies, many of whom aren't very helpful or see any sense of urgency. Then all the landowners have to be dealt with, including…

Due to the sterling efforts of Mark Timperley clearing the lane with his snow plough and RT re-doing the sections, we will now run our Christmas Trial on Sunday 28th December. Due to limited notice we will run 3 laps of 10 sections. Observer gratuity will be £20 per head. Barlow Lees Lane and Cowley Lane have been cleared from Holmesfield (near the Rutland Arms). Gosforth Lane up to Dronfield Hill top is passable with care, but local numpty drivers are making it a painful process. Hopefully MT will have cleared it by this evening if the locals get out of the way long enough for him to get it cleared. Cheers

It's been a while since I rode in this event so can't remember the course, how much roadwork is involved? Is it just a road crossing or short stint down a lane, or is there some distance involved?

The weather gods were smiling on the Peak Classic Trials Club this Sunday 30th November as the very wet weather of late abated and sunshine was the order of the day at Stathams Quarry, Matlock, Derbyshire. There was still a chill in the air but the sun definitely helped to dry out the sections resulting in a great days sport if a little bit easier than it might have been without the change of climate. It was also great to see a good turnout of riders supporting the club and it really made the considerable effort involved in putting on a trial so much more worthwhile. On to the results. The most tricky section of the day namely section 4 managed to take marks of almost th…

Just wanted to say a very big thankyou to all who were involved in today's trial at Cadnam/Canterton Southampton. I did manage to catch up with Ian, Mike and Kevin but there are always many others involved. Thanks to the landowner as well for the use of such a splendid venue. In my opinion and quite a few others who were riding round an excellent day, a well laid out trial with 'thought about' sections that had at least 2, sometimes 3 lines through them and which were certainly well suited to the Pre-65's, twinshockers and novices. some of the lads on modern monos were no doubt finding it a little easy. thanks also to Marjorie for manning and supporting the charity…

The Dabbers Trials club event at Widdington nr Saffron Walden was very tricky due to the constant rain on Saturday and with no let up all day today there was a river running through the grounds, most riders completed 3 laps of twelve sections. Thanks to the club stalwarts for setting out and all the Observers who got soaked through along with the riders.

The clocks went back an hour and everybody enjoyed their extra hour in bed but a turnout of 30 or so riders made the effort to come along to Round 10 of the Peak Classic Trials Clubs Championship at Bracken Rocks, Holloway nr Matlock. The weather stayed fine and even though earlier in the week the remnants of a hurricane swept through the area the venue was surprisingly dry. A few trees had given up the fight for survival but otherwise the venue was in prime condition. Bracken rocks has never been one of our most popular venues so all things considered along with the poor turnouts we have been experiencing lately it was nice to see so many support the Club. The results…
