We would like to thank the great turnout of riders who attended and supported the club it made all the work laying out and behind the scenes worthwhile. Another person I would like to mention and thank is Jim Wickstead whose firm S & J Autos of Ilkeston, which is jointly owned and run by Jim and Sean who both ride at our events, helped the club immensely by agreeing to sponsor the event which left us totally gobsmacked but extremely grateful. Jim who was observing on section 3 wasn’t riding this time as he recently had a very bad accident almost severing his finger with a circular saw. Thankfully the hospital was able to reattach the finger and Jim is recovering well …

The Colmore Cup on the 3rd March is almost fully subscribed, so anyone still thinking of entering this event should get their entries in quick. For riders who have entered, this is a 28 mile road trial. Please note the following: As part of the MSA approval process, the club has been requried to contact both the Gloucestershire Police and the West Mercia Police. The Police have asked us to confirm that all machines are fully road legal and properly insured! Please check your insurance to ensure that it does not exclude you from riding in trials... many policies do! If so, you can purchase basic road insurance on the day when you sign on. (certain restrictions apply.)…

Unfortunately I have had to cancel the trial scheduled for this Sunday at Clifton as I have just spent over an hour and a half to get my van back up the access road which is like a skating rink with the road covered in ice and snow. This single track road will NOT be gritted by the council so will only get worse so that is why the trial has had to be cancelled. I really hate having to do this but it is beyond my control. I know you may look out your window and think it's not that bad and to be honest the main roads are clear but the single track road down to the venue is treacherous. The stream which is supposed to run under the road is blocked and is now running across t…

The winter weather in Britain nowadays is very changeable and unpredictable and on the Friday while Paul Beswick, the Clerk of the Course, and his two helpers Jim Wickstead and Tony Shaw endured freezing torrential rain and temperatures in minus figures whilst setting the course for Sundays trial who would have thought the sun would shine on Sunday for this the penultimate round of the Peak Classic Trials Clubs 2012/13 Championship. Sundays sunshine was almost eclipsed by the smiles on the riders faces as they attempted 4 laps of 10 sections laid out over the rocky outcrops and trees that abound at this classic venue which has featured in so many Trials videos and magazi…

With the country suffering from some of the wettest weather this year an ark might have been more appropriate than a trials bike last Sunday when the Peak Classic Trials club held round 10 of its 2012 Club Championship at Bracken Rocks near Holloway in the heart of the beautiful Derbyshire Peak District. The clerk of the course Paul Beswick had spent Thursday and Friday setting out along with the help of fellow club member Jim Wickstead and did their best to take the downpours of late into account when doing so however one thing they didn’t take into account was a last minute training day organised by James Dabill on the Saturday which left the venue looking more like a m…

Just like to say well done to the Sidcup Trials club for a great trial on sunday. The weather was terrible, with heavy rain before and during the trial, but we (me and my mate) still had a great day, finished covered in mud and worn out. Results and pics on the webb site Sunday evening. A big thanks to the Observers, they must have been frozen. TLTEL

With the winter approaching the clocks went back and riders got a welcome extra hour in bed to ready themselves for Round 9 of the Peak Classic Trials Clubs Championship. With four rounds to go every championship point scored could be precious in the pursuit of class success at the end of the year. Rain had been forecast for later in the day but thankfully it held off until after the trial so the course was in prime condition and with the use of a piece of land that had been lost for some time we were able to lay out 10 sections to be ridden 4 times over a more expansive lap which resulted in far less queuing than usual at this popular venue. Due to a dates clash the en…

Thought I,d just fire a quick thank you to the guys that run the club, yesterday's trial was bloody good, I'm fairly crap but really enjoyed the sections, hard enought to challenge but still managed a few cleans, just the right standard for me. I wish I had the time to help out, but working every sat and 2 young kids mean its hard enough getting out to compete ( and that's only 4 or 5 times a yr) never mind setting out a trial. Cheers guys, had a ball!
