Hello! I am a newbie to trials (enduro/mx riding previously) and recently purchased 2000 Rev3 (primarily reason: it is pre-2002 model, so it allows year round riding around California public off-road parks). I find first and second gear to be very low, and a couple of experienced trials riders also mentioned this when they rode the bike. It currently has 10 teeth front, and 42 teeth rear. What do you recommend I change? An additional constraint that seems to be worrying is that the rear sprocket is 6 hole sprocket, and majority of the rear sprockets that i find on the market are 4 hole sprockets. So, is the easiest would be to switch to 11 teeth front since the …

  3. I am at a loss to find out why my stepsons 200 beta rev3 125 won,t run. Bike stood for a year and ran ok before. Got a regular spark which looks slightly week compared to my Gas Gas but similar to my 2008 Rev3. Stator checked and cleaned by myself all wiring/ connectors cleaned.New plug, HD lead and plug cap. Carb cleaned and set up correctly. My father started it last week and it ran for 5 mins before he switched it off. It will occassionally start after numerous kicks only to fire up and rev for a split second before dying. Tried bump staring doen a 300 metre hill did not fire at all. After several kicks plug has been removed and is wet. I know stator and CDi a…

The bike does not start. There was no visible spark from the spark plug, but spark plug itself was fine when we spark tested with another Beta. So, I pulled out the ignition coil and tested for continuity, I have attached the picture labeling the terminals. Here is what I found When cranked and the voltage between 1 and 2 reads between 10v to 14v, so the stator seems working When tested for resistance, with 2 (ground) disconnected, the resistance reads zero for the following terminals 3 and 4 terminals 3 and 5 terminals 4 and 5 Between any of (3, 4, 5) and 6 at the spark plug end the resistance is 1k So, is th…

Does anyone have a new or used 2000 rev-3 mud guard they wish to sell? Or if another year fits, and you have one of those, I don't mind a differant color. Broke her off this weekend.

Is there anything inherantly good or bad with this bike? Looking at one in good order but haven't had a ride on one. I would be comparing it to a '98 Montesa as far a suspension, power delivery and traction.

I recently came across a 2000 Rev 3 270. Can anybody tell me about this bike? Is it considered to be a decent trials bike? Are there any common problems with this model? Thank You, Greg

I might be about to buy a 2000 rev 3, I was wondering what spares were like for the forks as they are the only year with USD forks?!? Any idea why they put them on for just the 1 year? Is there anything particulaty weak on these. I've looked through the forum and have seen about the stator/electrics anything else to watch out for?

Hi my 2000 rev 3 has not missed a beat in the last year but just lately has started playing up a bit. I turned it off after about an hour and it would not start so i pulled the plug out an it was soaking so cleand it and eventualy after a bump off it started. I changed the plug, stripped and cleaned the card and air box last week and it fired up and ran great. Tonight i went out and it would not start, flooded again so i cleaned the plug and still nothing, bumped it and then it ran great for 2 to 3 hours stopping and starting. but the problem seems to be when i leave it off for moe than 10-15 mins it dose not want to start again and has to be bumped as if it is floodin…

How is this done. I have taken the wheel out, removed both the pressed in spacers and the circlip from one side, but I just can't see how to remove the bearings themselves. Can anybody shed light on this situation? Cheers edit: I fogot to say this is the rear wheel.

Recently brought this bike and the electrics are not working, I can start it but the fan won't work, doesn't seem to be any power going to the thermostat so therefore no fan, I've powered the fan from a battery and works, I've ordered a new thermostat and regulator, but whilst I wait I'm trying find a diagram to show me what everything's wired to.

Hi. Got myself a 2000 model REV 3 250 with USD forks but fork seal has obviously been leaking. Anyone got the dat on fork oil quantity please? I'm using a fuel mix of 70:1 but it smokes a bit and drips unused oil from the low end of the silencer when put back in the garage. Anyone know the recommended fuel mix please? Looking forward to my first greybeards round at Waltham Chase Club next week, first time back for 15 years. Cheers, Trevor

Hello! Been thinking about servicing front forks and rear shock of 2000 rev3 2T 250, and previous owner had the bike sitting around for probably 4-5 years. I have attached the pictures. The suspension seem to be working ok, but I would like to service and replace needed items to ensure its reliability. Do you have recommendation on what to replace and what tools you suggest I buy? Considering lead times, I would rather have things ready before starting on this project. Thanks much in advance!

Do the shark fin type sprocket guards fit rev3's as early as 2000 or is it just the newer models? I don't seem to have any fixing points for one but I could be wrong as I haven't actully seen one in the flesh/plastic. I know they're only cheap but no point buying one to find out I can't fit it. If they do fit, where's the best place to get one, the 'bay of E' or does someone on here sell them (thought I saw someone making them)? Any help much appreciated.

Hi folks....looking for some guidance and ideas I recently bought a 2000 Rev3 in pretty good nick (my first dip into the waters of trialing). It's been running pretty sweetly until this weekend. Used it Saturday fine, but on Sunday it started then the revs went kind of 'bogged down' when I applied a little throttle and it hasnt run since. I figured it was flooded badly but that doesnt seem to be the case. There wasnt much of a spark but I've replaced the plug and it sparks ok against the head when tested. So far I've: * checked spark & replaced plug * removed carb, checked and blown all jets etc (also did BillyT's float bowl height mod while I was in there to …

Hi, I'm going to look at one of these on Sunday that's just had a top-end rebuild. Bloke says that when it's been stood for a while the water pump can take a while to get going and is a little 'noisy' at first. Is this correct, or is he trying to hide a problem? Cheers,
