Hi, I've been overhauling a 2000 Rev 3 270 and now need to tighten things back-up. I rang Lampkins who said that there are no-torque values available except for the cylinder head. I'd just like to know what if any settings people use for the following: 1). Front wheel axle. 2). Fork clamps. 3). Handlebar clamps 4). Swingarm. 5). Brake mounting bolts. 4). Rear axle. Cheers,

I know this is going to sound daft but I'm wanting to keep my Beta running sweet so I need some advice. I've had my Beta 125 for 7months (from new) and I've regularly cleaned and oiled the air filter so it's still in more or less ok condition. Didn't know whether I should get a new one though, or which type to get (some claim to be 'high-performance') Also, now it's 7 months old what other checks/changes should I be doing? I'm going to change the gearbox oil for the 2nd time soon and change fork oil. Replies appreciated Rob

OK...here goes..maybe a stupid question..but then I often ask the stupid ones. Saw a guy a while ago putting in a VERY good ride on a GG125 at a trial...and it got me thinking about the Beta 125's......(also, there seem to be plenty of Beta 125s for sale at the mo. and Im in the market for a bike)...all the 250s etc. I've looked at so far have had very hard lifes... Anyway..to try and get to the point. I'm JUST over 10 stone in weight..so there are probably a few teenagers around at the same weight as me. Would a Rev3 125 be worth considering??...I'm not a great rider...kind of a 50/50 rider in a typical South midland mud-fest I believe there is also a "race-kit" ava…

Sorry Heath, Beta is safely tucked up in my workshop tonight and not at the bottom of a rock face. Bike ran absolutley perfect today for the first time in 3 months?, first time I have really enjoyed riding it and could have gone more than the 9 hours we did today. No idea why but can only narrow it down to five things. Only thing I altered on Saturday was 100% optimax with 70ml of Repsol instead of either 50% optimax and 50% avgas or 100% avgas. Have run it on 100% optimax before but still ran poor. Went back to 30 pilot jet instead of 27.5 Dropped the needle one notch, but tried that before Was it in my head, abit but a bike that is stalling low down and running lean…

Does anyone know the part number of the adjuster screw for an 02 front brake control. I looked at some other bikes and they appear to have a large threaded bit then another small set screw into that. I am tired of my lever hanging way forward. After market OK Name of manufacture of control for Beta OK Thanks Denny Crane

Just wondering whether many Beta riders keep the stock (domino) handlebars or change to Renthals? I know the different dimensions of a handlebar can affect the way the bike feels to ride but is the choice of rise, sweep e.t.c just personnel taste or is there a paticular spec. that suits the Beta better? Cheers Rob

Another Beta convert, got a 02(by frame number)250 and need some advice in setting it up properly for me, if you guys on here can oblige. (all I know is twinshock 4 strokes so the incompetence level may be high .... )Bike is absolutley immaculate and has been very well looked after, I want to do the same. Simple one first Premix: told 50:1 ratio but Lampkin's site suggests 70:1 what does everyone else use, which is the best oil, I know I need a Semi-Synthetic type but which, PJ1, Silkolene, Ipone, Repsol???? Rear suspension: It's set up for a guy weighing 11st, I'm significantly heavier than that what do I do, is it a simple case of lengthening the spring or shorten…

Finally got the Beta to run as it should - took 3 months though! I have fitted the extra float bowl, changed the pilot to a 27.5, left the main as standard and have now set the needle to the standard position in the middle rather than dropping it one notch as I have done on all the other rev 3's I ve had. Carb is still leaking but pretty sure the fuel needle needs replacing as it isnt stopping fuel flow off. Did the carb mods, thanks to r2wtrials for the info. Never had to mess about with a bike so much before to get it running right. Fuel screw is also set at 2 and now running 70ml of fully synthetic repsol to 5 litres of AvGas. Forks now have damping after finding out…

Hi, I'm having trouble fitting the airbox cover - there's a large hole that goes through the cover, then through the bodywork and then into the airbox. There is no screwthread in the airbox , so what goes in there to keep it in place? Or should there be some form of thread in there? Where it attaches to the airbox at the other points, there are metal threaded inserts. If I attach the cover at the threaded holes, it seems to be way of the larger hole in the top right-hand corner. Do you think it's the wrong cover? Where's the best place to get hold of the proper screws/fasteners that are used to attach the bodywork, the piece of plastic that keeps the air filter in pla…

I finally got my beta running forwards again after replacing the flywheel key, but when I started it up it was still not sounding right. My gfs dad reckoned the mixture was too rich so we tried unscrewing the mixture screw slightly. It started sounding better and better and wasnt missing beats as much. Problem was the screw became quite loose when it was at the right position, I should've known it would fall out. Spoke to my gf's grandad(pre 65 obsessive compulsive) and he suggested carving a bit of wood to plug the gap left by the missing screw, just until i can get a replacement. Tried running the bike like this and it seemed fine-ish, I think it might be a littl…

Hi All, Having problems with my 02 Beta at the mo, the bottom end of the rev range is sweet as a nut, top end, there's some missing, pinking under throttle and a sharp tapping/knocking sound when coming back off it. Think I'm gonna have to take it in to be professionally looked at. Anyone know what these symptoms are leading towards and how much people like Lampkins charge for repairs and or servicing? Many Thanks Andy

Hi, Just bought a 2000 Rev 3 270 which has just had a complete engine rebuild. Should I use synthetic oil for the first couple of hours? If yes which type and at what mixture? I've got Plutline that I use on my KTM, is that OK? After the first couple of hours what oil do you recommend then, and at what mixture? Also what gear box oild does anyone recommend? Finally, what's the torque setting on the gearbox drain bolt? Sorry for all the questions. Cheers,
