Following on from this thread I recently cleaned my header and mid pipes out using caustic soda and after emptying and allowing eveything to drain and dry out, yesterday I put it all back together (I repacked the silencer for good measure). The bike started fine, ran for a few seconds before the revs suddenly rose then it died. It then won't restart unless I leave it for a while when it starts first kick before doing the same thing. Kick, brrrrrrrrrRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR, stop. Any ideas?

Started hearing rumors of a new Beta Frame for 2007, if so which way are they going? Smaller or beefier for a four stroke?

Has anyone noticed on the trialcast gallery that they have made an alloy flywheel cover to replace the plaggy things. There have been afew problems with people getting water on their electrics due to this rubbish case, and i thought that although not a complete solution to the problem, an alloy case may well atleast mean water doesn't gush in. You could just loosen it off when you get home and let the condensation dry out, and hopefully do less damage to the electrics. So basically i wondered what you thought, everyone seemed quite interested when someone make a flywheel cover before, and if loadsa people were interested then maybe they would make them, which would be …

Hello I know this subject has probably done the rounds before but here goes anyway. I've recently bought a 2005 Rev3 250, on the first outing I noticed that on the overrun with a closed throttle the engine was very lumpy, kinda fire then misfire sort of thing, I decided to take a look at the carb(DOH!)all seems well apart from the rear vent tube had melted against the exhaust. Its now back together but it wont run unless im keeping some throttle open, I've adjusted the tickover to no avail and set the air screw to 1 1/2 turns out from fully in. I have noticed that the plug is as black as yer hat, I've been told to run it at 80:1 Any ideas what may be causing my proble…

I am looking at buying a 2001 rev 3 270 from a mates dad, I had a go on and I liked it a lot, when cold though the clutch has to be tightened up on the cable and then after riding for a while needs to be loosened off. Is this a major problem and what is the cure? When were hydraulic clutches introduced and can an after market one be fitted? I was looking at getting a 250 but I know the history of this bike from new and it has only been in a few trials so is in good condition and therefore would be a good buy i feel. Are there any problems to look for on this model or year of bike? I have ridden trail bikes but as this is my first trials bike I thought maybe a slow actio…

Does anyone have a link to a site that has exploded parts diagrams and parts list for both the motor and frame of a REV 3 (all year models). I did manage to find it for the 2001 model months back but can't seem to find the same site again.

can anyone out there in betaland tell me if 2004 plastics will fit my 2002 rev3? the 04 has the easier access airfilter but it would be no great hardship if i still had to remove the whole mudgaurd as on the 02,as long as the 04 mudgaurd fits over the 02 airbox.

My 250's started to run really smoky again recently and I suspect it because there's a serious buildup of gunk in the front and mid pipes. I seem to remember reading somewhere that the mid pipe had packing in it... is this true? If so, how do you repack and in either case what's the recommended procedure for cleaning the inside of the exhaust (in the absence of caustic soda or similar which is becoming very difficult to obtain )?

Hi, just bought a Beta Techno '98 and had my first play on it before I enter any trials - the last trial I rode was 28 years ago! All seems fine but the clutch is very snatchy - on/off like a light switch, with no progression to the engagement. Is this normal? Will a normal service (dismantle/clean up/new oil) sort it, or are there some special tricks I should know? Cheers

Being new to trials can anyone tell me the main differences between the techno and the Rev 3, opinions on which is best etc? Beta seem to be good value and reliable from what I can gather. When I get my Pinky rebuilt and some practise in I fancy getting a modern bike and am drawn toward the Beta's.Would be looking to spend a grand, probably have to sell Pinky as space and funds won't allow both! Not in any rush to buy so if you can give me some pointers and things to look for I can have a look around.
