trial is not so common around here within a 4 hour drive radius the only used trialsbike in a bike-#7-price-range other than the Fantic 301 you told me to stay clear off is a 97 Beta Techno I do not want to compete only have fun, improve my trail riding skills and on occassion take the trials bike on a tough trail any opinion from a real trials rider, is the Techno a learners bike? or should I go on looking? if so what should I look for? the TY-S175F sounds like something I'd like to have, but my wallet does not agree with another new bike my question is not what kind f wear and tear to specificly look for when I check the bike that I found in old Beta threa…

Trial last Sunday was a bit of a mudfest and would like to take the airbox completely off of my recently acquired s/h 05 rev3 to give it a good cleanup, used to do this on previous shercos - nice and easy to work on. Will the airbox assembly come off without removing the shock / exhaust? - or does either need to be removed first, it looks a bit tight in there, was even wondering if the expansion box needs to be slacked off or removed. Appreciate any guidance or previous experience. btw - I did remove the flywheel cover to let the leccy bits dry out, it did dribble a bit when removed. thanks again.

I've just been watching some of the rider interviews on the indoor trials website & couldn't help but notice that James Dabill has started to emulate Doug's habit of speaking to Spanish interviewers in pigeon English. Is this Jake's careful coaching or an attempt to be more Spanish for the audience & the indoor sections?

I'm not sure when they introduced the top access for the air filter and wondered if an o6 rear mudguard would fit straight onto an 03 model. Is it the same moulding, fittings etc. Ta.

Hi all, I am looking for opinions on the Beta Techno. Has anyone owned one and ridden it in competition. I am just trying to get a good idea of what it is like to ride before I jump in and buy one. I am looking at the last few years of production 1997-2000. I have been looking about for a few weeks and found some nice examples but I was wondering if anyone knows if they have a particular weak spot that I need to look out for and how much I should be looking to pay? Thanks in advance Scott

Thank you Andy for the excellent picture of Antonio Bou riding off the rock that I now have as a desktop image, overall I thought his bike looks very std but is it me or are the footrests much lower mounted than normal and the front fork yokes (triple clamps for you guys in the US) appear different also. The top one is not the 06 type as it does not seem to have the slots milled in where the legs go through and the fork legs appear to slope back as though the steering stem and legs are not parallel so making the bike wheeelbase shorter, what do you all think then again it may just be the camera angle ?

Hi Folks, I've got an 03 rev3 200, and aftre reading Neonsurge's post I started to get a little concerned about play in my flywheel. This may just be me being over worried, but it may not. If i rock my flywheel backwards and forwards with my hand you can feel a small amount of play, and there is a slight tapping, at first a mate told me it was normal and just play in the gearbox, but then I thought it might be the piston rings, and then I suddenly thought it could be play in my big end, there isn' any play in the main bearings and i think it is running as it should. Is this normal or anything to worry about??? cheers, Bob

I am considering decreasing the bar width on my Rev-3 to 30 inches from 33 inches to match the width of my enduro bike bars. I have trouble adjusting to the increased width when I ride the Beta in the trails and my knuckles do not like the trees very much. Does anyone do this and what, if anything, would I loose from doing this?

Hi, My son has a new 2006 50cc mini trial and it wont idle properly. When riding, it idles high, but after 15~20 seconds it will idle right down then stop. * Have re-cleaned the carb with compressed air * Checked the inlet manifold for leaks. Checked bolts. * Confirmed that slide closes and opens fully and that steering movement does not interfere. * Needle and seat looks new (as it should). The fuel tap runs freely, but have noticed that fuel line constantly has a long air bubble inside it after the bike has ran for a few minutes (fuel pipe is clear tubing). I don't know why. Stalling problem interferes with his riding as we noticed it always does it when he …

After 20 minutes riding on Saturday, my '03 Rev-3 suddenly started to run choppily then suddenly backfired and died. Kicking resulted in more backfires so I pushed it back to the van and did all the usual stuff (carb off, checked and cleaned, new plug, check filter and airbox for water etc. etc.) but as far as the life-ometer was concerned, she was reading a big fat zero. Back at the ranch I pulled the flywheel and found that the woodruff key had sheared (makes sense given the symptoms I guess) and that the lower section had fused itself into the crankshaft recess. I managed to pry the offending lump of shrapnel out but while doing so, noticed a very slight amount of pla…
