We regret to announce the passing of Don Clark in Vancouver BC, Don was the owner of Mountain Motorcycles, and along with his two sons, Bob and Brett, Imported Beta and Sherco Motorcycles. He was also the Importer for Gas Gas until 2006. - Don was a keen Trials fan, and kept up to date with all aspects of the sport, he had by far the biggest and best stock of Trials parts in Canada, and maybe North America. Many well known riders had stayed at Don's home in Coquitlam, including Jordi Tarres. - He passed away Aug 15 after a short illness at the age of 74. Our condolences go to his wife Hazel and the rest of the family.

  4. The first two rounds of the 2011 Canadian National Championships, sanctioned by WTC, were completed at Summerland in British Columbia on May 21 & 22, 2011. A total of 65 competitors took part in the weekend's activities, with a third of them from outside of British Columbia, lending a truly national flavour to the two trials. The results leave Thomas Cordner of Victoria, BC in the lead with a margin of just one championship point over Jonathan English of Foxboro, Ontario. The $100 daily prizes for lowest loop scores in the Champ class were won by Jonathan English on Saturday and Thomas Cordner on Sunday. Dave Rhodes did a great job organizing the event, with the sc…

There is now a new Canadian Trials website online. www.mototrials.ca looks to be a fresh, modern site that will serve our community well and was the creation of Brian Hotovy and longtime trials legend from these parts, Ryon Bell. It is also on twitter which you can pickup when you go to the page! It will be great to get up to date info from clubs and be able to see video and pics there too. Steve

  6. from the: Canadian Trials Consultative Group (C.T.C.G.) The C.T.C.G. is in the progress of being formed and will be initially comprised of one representative from each province however BC and AB will have multi reps during the start up phase. How the group functions, its future structure and mandate will be decided democratically by the group once it's up and running. Quite simply the group will discuss trials related issues and of course each representative will bring these issues back to their provincial riders for feedback. The C.T.C.G. has no decision making powers and is consultative in nature. Initial provincial representatives to get started are: Ontario -…

The Canadian Trials season has been very active in the past few weeks, with Trials on Vancouver Island, Vancouver and in Calgary Alberta, not to mention the early Vintage events in Ontario. Attendance appears to be up in some areas this year, - At the recent VMC Trial, Will Duggan(GG) made a welcome return, beating out top gun Thomas Cordner,(GG) while at the CPTA Trial this past weekend, it was Kelowna rider, Brandon Wince(Beta) who took the win. - Over the other side of the Rocky Mountains in Alberta, - Spanish star Tino Marin(Sherco) took the Expert class at the Calgary event, but was pushed by Ex pat Steve Foord.(Beta) The upcoming season looks to be really busy,…

This past weekend young Patrick Smage from the USA, did what many thought impossible. - he went to Europe and beat the top Youth riders at the Italian World Championship. In order to do this, he not only had to have the natural talent, but also the support of his family and friends, plus the Sherco Distributor. - The costs involved for a "Privateer" are immense with the rewards small in comparison - this is true no matter where the rider is located, but obviously with most Trials action happening in Europe, American or Canadian youngsters, are at a huge dis-advantage, not only because of the costs, but also because of school schedules etc. Much has been written on this…

The front page of this website shows a a pic of a CMA logo with the words - a Shake up in Canadian Trials. - To put the record straight, nothing has changed, except one person has decided to leave the well organized and well funded by the MMIC - WTC - Trials in Canada is alive and well under the umbrella of the WEC/WTC.

The 28th running of the WTC Sanctioned Two Day Outlaw Trial took place at Scotch Creek. BC - on the May long weekend - The Shuswap riders did an excellent job of setting up a variety of sections for all classes, plus put on a big BBQ on both Saturday and Sunday nights. - With an entry of 40 riders each day, plus a kids Trial on the Saturday evening, the event was once again a huge success. In the Expert class, it was an all Beta podium, with Brandon Wince of Kelowna taking the win, over our new transplanted Aussi, Sam King, and Sean Bird - a former CMA Champion, making a welcome return to the sport. The next big WTC Trial is the Eastern Canadian Championship in Quebec…

The 22nd running of the Outlaw Trial took place near Summerland BC on May 17/18th - as usual we had a good turn out of riders in all classes, and it was very gratifying to see Ben Buss and Matt Fracy looking after the Saturday evening kids Trial, not only are these young lads improving big time in their own riding ability, they are more than willing to help out with the work. - We had two separate loops with 18 sections on the Saturday Vintage loop and 20 sections on the Sunday loop. - each loop was approx 15-20 km long. and had a variety of "English" style sections. We saw some exceptional rides in all classes, and the campfire stories were great. - I'm sorry I don't kn…
