Canada Trials

Hi, I will be touring on Vancouver island for a couple of weeks starting Wed 25th, followed by a few days in BC, and would love to see how trials are run on the other side of the pond. Are there any events on the calender for this period? I could even be persuaded to observe if asked nicely!! Chees Stevel

New here, just looking for places to ride on the north island. Just back into trials, last one was a cota 123 in the 70's, and interested in some interesting riding.

I just read through the recent "Trouble at AHRMA" thread on the USA forum. Yikes! Almost as bad as reading CMA/WEC politics for modern Canadian Trials! As for the former, all politics aside, the riding issues sound very familar to ones I have heard since starting to help organize and compete in vintage events here in Canada over 20 years ago. Ironically, some of the vintage bikes we see out in recent times were being used in modern events back when we started "vintage" trials in Eastern Canada! Much has changed and the old guard of BSA and Triumph riders are almost completely absent now, while the ubiquitous TY's , TLs, Sherpas, etc. are all over 30 years old. Turnouts…

The first two rounds of the new WEC Canadian Championship Trials Series were held on the May long weekend in Summerland BC. - With 54 riders on Saturday, 55 on Sunday and 11 for the Vintage on Monday, a good time was had by all. The winner of the Champ class on both days, was Steve Foord, who recently emigrated from the UK - Steve was well known as a minder for both Graham Jarvis and Sam Connor. - The Sherco rider soon adapted to the Canadian terrain, and beat out the top riders from Vancouver and the West coast. This past weekend young Patrick Smage from the USA, did what many thought impossible. - he went to Europe and beat the top Youth riders at the Italian World Championship. In order to do this, he not only had to have the natural talent, but also the support of his family and friends, plus the Sherco Distributor. - The costs involved for a "Privateer" are immense with the rewards small in comparison - this is true no matter where the rider is located, but obviously with most Trials action happening in Europe, American or Canadian youngsters, are at a huge dis-advantage, not only because of the costs, but also because of school schedules etc. Much has been written on this…

I live Idaho and I'm interested in completing in the Pacific Northwest. I've been confused for months, at first I thought WTC was the world trials championship but now after reading into it I discovered it means world trials Canada. My question is are they affiliated with each other? Can anyone tell tell what events to attend on the Canadian side of the border? Ray Rotney

Applications are being accepted to host rounds of the WTC Canadian Championship for 2013 - so far one round in Vancouver has been confirmed for July (2day), while two others are pending.

The Final rounds of the 2013 WTC Canadian Trials Championship, will take place this weekend Aug 31-Sept 1st in Quebec. - A poster with all the info: in both English and French, can be seen on the front page of Trials Canada.

The forum on the Trials Canada has been closed. One of the issues on that forum was that every time a person wanted to talk about anything trials in Canada it quickly became a debate about the Pros and Cons of the different organizations. In attempt to put an end to that I am suggesting we use this thread for such discussion and can simply refer to it instead of having the same arguments in every new thread opened. We will need to police this ourselves but I suggest when ever a person feels the urge to slam or promote a trials organization we can refer them to do it in this thread. The first ever Ymir trials event is in the history books now and from all accounts it was a great time had by all. The weather was perfect for both days and the evenings cool for hanging out by the camp fire. The Saturday trail ride saw about a dozen riders in two groups and we all got to see some spectacular scenery. We had twenty two riders registered for the competition and six for the little wheels event. A huge thanks to Pete and Zoe Bustin for hosting the event and thanks again to all people that helped out with scoring, trophies, food, firewood, photography, taking down the sections, the trail guides and Main Jet Motorsports.
